MY FAVORITE "CLASSROOM"....

Something about sitting in a hot hangar on plastic chairs and talking aviation.  I LOVE IT!

Glen, my CFI Instructor has a lot of aviation stories to tell, as do I.  If you fly long enough, you'll gather stories!

One of the teaching methods favored by the FAA is "Scenario Based Training" (SBT).

This effective method helps to impart knowledge by using "real world" experiences to teach clearly defined objectives.

Glen is teaching me to "weave" those stories into my training syllabus.

Our training aircraft (C-172) is down needing an engine change.  And speaking of engine change, the Little Donkey's engine is being overhauled at Don George Aircraft in Orlando.

I spoke with Don George yesterday.  He explained that his shop had a FIRE last week. THANKFULLY, no one was injured!

Our engine was not damaged, but the overhaul may take a bit longer, as Don needs to get his shop back in working order.

Don is a Believer in Jesus and is trusting our Lord to lead the way.  Please PRAY all works out well.

So, on this beautiful, warm summer day in Florida, I'm studying SBT (Scenario Base Training) in preparation for my CFI Checkride!

As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!!

PROVERBS 3....WOW!!

One of my all-time favorites... Proverbs 3.

In this one Proverb, Solomon captures the Grace & Wonder & Sweetness of our Lord.

Our Lord wants us to TRUST HIM (with all our heart) & HE SHALL DIRECT OUR PATH!  AMEN!!

If you haven't read this wonderful Proverb lately, may I encourage you to click here, take about 5 minutes and read it slowly.

PROVERBS 3 NKJV

It will BLESS your heart!  Your day will go better!

Today, will be continuing my "ground school" flight training working on SBT (Scenario Based Training).  I love it!!

May you enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and slowly and thoughtfully read Proverbs 3.  You'll be glad you did!

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

TIME WITH A... PATRIOT, HERO, NASA LEGEND & A BELIEVER IN JESUS!!

Ike Rigell is all of the above and so much more.

Ariana and I spent some precious time with Ike and his lovely bride, Kathryn (91!) yesterday.

Ari brought Honey (our new little puppy) over to share with Ike and Kathryn.  She also took this shot of us.

Ike is our neighbor and I'm so glad to be so close to a true Legend!!

Ike is 96 years old and absolutely brilliant.  During our conversation I forgot the word "Kindle".  Ike quickly reminded me. He's right on top of technology and sharp as a tack!

Ike's joy and love and wisdom is so apparent and overflowing.

Kathryn is a sweetheart and the two together are like "newly weds".  Again, we're blessed to live so close!

I'm so glad that Ari is getting to know such incredible and wonderful people as Ike and Kathryn!

Have been reading his book, IKE.  Can't put it down.  Ike tells his story with such down-home clarity, humility and passion.  He always brings GLORY TO GOD!!

Here's what Amazon has to say about Ike...

Ike Rigell is a Marine Veteran of World War II. After honorably fighting for his country at the battles of Iwo Jima, Midway, Saipan, and Tinian, Ike went on to earn a degree from one of the top engineering schools in the country, Georgia Tech.

After graduation, he went to work for the Army Ballistic Missile Agency (ABMA), which was later transferred to NASA in 1960. At NASA, Ike was an original member of the launch team at Cape Canaveral, FL.

He was a member of the launch team for the Free World's first satellite, Explorer I (1958), the Free World's first man in space (1961), Chief Engineer and Deputy Director for all Apollo Space Program launches (12 men walked on the surface of the moon), Skylab, the United States first laboratory in space, and Director of Launch Operations for the Apollo-Soyuz launch in 1975 (a joint U.S. and Russian rendezvous in space).

After his time at NASA, he worked for ten more years in the space program for United Technologies and retired as the Vice President of USBI, Florida Operations. Ike and his wife, Kathryn, live in Titusville, FL.

Well, it's Sunday morning here in America.  So THANKFUL for the freedom we have to head to our church of choice and worship our Lord.  GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

And, it's men like Ike Rigell who MAKE AMERICA GREAT!  THANK YOU IKE!!!

And, I'm so THANKFUL to have you on-board with me on this meandering road through life.  THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

BACK TO THE AIRPORT CLASSROOM...

Heading back to flight training today.  Glen and I will be doing "ground school", preparing for the Oral portion of the CFI Examination.

A lot of regs (Federal Aviation Regulations - FAR).  Notice all the tabs.  They help me navigate that big book.

And then..... there's the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI).

The FOI is a wonderful exploration into human nature and is even helping me to share the Gospel more effectively (hopefully).

At any rate, it's rather fun and quite insightful.

I must admit, all of this "studying" is breaking up some "fallow ground" in my old brain.  I suppose that's a good thing.

So, this beautiful morning, time to head to the airport and 'exercise' my brain with Glen as my instructor.

Our flight training aircraft (the C-172) is down for an engine replacement, just like the Little Donkey (Ti-Burik).

BTW, we hope to get Ti Burik back in the air pretty soon.  Ohhh, I've missed flying that sweet bird!!

THANK YOU, as always, for your truly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

PETER TURNS 22

Yes, Peter is that tall.  We're blessed by our son and so thankful that 22 years ago, our Lord gave us Peter.

We almost lost him when he was just hours old!

But PRAYER and the great Doctors at Arnold Palmer Childrens Hospital brought Peter back from a "flat-line" and here he is today, all 6'3" tall.  GOD IS SO GOOD!!

Peter is a Senior at Florida Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) and studying Business Administration.  GO PETER!!

Yesterday, I received a call from Gary & Kathy Fox.  I call Gary, "Gary Tennis Balls" because he retrieves used tennis balls and we bring them to the Mission Field all around the world.

Gary has brought us thousand and thousands of these wonderful "toys".  Kids LOVE THE TENNIS BALLS!

BTW, tennis balls make excellent packing for our water purifiers insulating them from shock.

Gary's tennis balls are in more than 30 countries now.  What a simple and wonderful gift!

In addition to Tennis Balls, Gary has found amazing amounts of baby formula, clothes, food, medical equipment and so much more.

Gary and Kathy are a SUPER TEAM and demonstrate the love of God in such tangible and sweet ways!

I was blessed to have them over for lunch and some lovely fellowship.

Where would we be without so many helping us along the way?

"SURELY ....OUR LORD KNOWS HOW TO DEPLOY HIS TROOPS!!"

So, what does our Lord have for us today?  Don't know, but I'm holding tightly to His hand!

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious prayer, love and support!!

A COMFORTABLE BED...

Now, I know that is a rather strange headline, but I must tell you why I mentioned it this morning.

At the end of the day, when I usually collapse in my bed, I often get overwhelmed by the simple reality of a safe, soft, comfortable bed.  It seems to hit me almost every evening.

My mind goes to the literally millions around the world that are dealing with "flight", or war or a horrid refugee camp without a safe place to lay ones head, lack of food, clean water, medical care and the list of suffering goes on and on.

Two things happen to me.  First, I realize the gift of my comfortable bed and next...the suffering  and horror of tens of millions (or more)  around the world.

Those thoughts don't generally last very long.  I drift off to sleep rather quickly.

Having been in nearly 50 countries, usually following catastrophic disasters, those images are always near the surface.

May I never forget and may I be ever sensitive to the Holy Spirit to go where He wants me to go, when He wants me there.

When you lay down this evening, may you breathe a prayer for the millions who do not have that simple luxury.

Just thought I'd share that with you.  And, THANK YOU for meandering down this winding road of life with me.  I so appreciate your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

HONORING ROGER...

What an amazing Memorial Service for our dear friend, Roger Miller.

So many friends came to honor this amazing and talented and giving man.

When asked how many Roger had touched with his wit, humor and extraordinary gifts, nearly the whole church stood.

It was my distinct privilege to share during this remarkable service.  The legacy of Roger lives on in so many lives.

Please remember to pray for Roger's family and friends as we all deal with the loss of this precious man.

Meanwhile, my Cindy & Ari & "Company" (Andy, Honey, Pippin & Maple) arrived back in Florida, safe and sound from Tennessee yesterday.

We never take safe traveling for granted.  THANK YOU Lord, for a safe journey.

Just before we left the "Retreat Cabin" caught Cindy and me "in the field".

The family that MOWS together, GROWS together.

So, now that we're all back in Florida, Cindy's at the hospital and I'm hitting the books to get ready for that "long-awaited" Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) check-ride.

I know I say this every single day, but I mean it with all of my heart, THANK YOU for joining me on this journey through life with your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

REMEMBERING ROGER...

Recently (May 16th), my dear friend Roger Miller passed away.  I had the wonderful privilege to spend time with Roger while he was in the hospital.

Roger was a great friend and brother in the Lord.  He shared his many, God-given talents with me and Air Mobile.

Among those gifts, Roger had the ability to "Capture a story & tell it", with images and words.  Roger's long and successful career as the Director for NBC in Chicago pays tribute to his gifts.

But, when Roger, at 80 years old crawled into the tiny co-pilot seat of the Little Donkey and flew to Haiti after the terrible earthquake, Roger gave more than a few tips.

BTW, we climbed to 19,000', flew right through the "Bermude Triangle" and on to Haiti.  He literally put his life on the line and made an amazing "Mini-Documentary" titled "Air Mobile Joe".

Here's the award winning mini-documentary "Air Mobile Joe" - "AIR MOBILE JOE" by ROGER MILLER

Today, at 11:00am,  we will honor Roger at the Great Outdoors Church here in Titusville, FL (144 Plantation Dr, Titusville, FL 32780).

I will surely miss my dear friend and fellow trooper in the cause of bringing clean water and the Good News of Jesus to the hurting and thirsty around the world.

Please remember to pray for his dear wife, Adelle as she deals with the loss of her beloved Roger.  Also, please pray for all of Roger's family and many friends he made along the way.

I drove 13 hours yesterday to get here in time for the service. Today, Cindy and Ari & "Company" will be on the road heading back to Florida.  As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!
