10 YEARS AGO TODAY......


Jesus said, "I am come that you may have life and life more abundantly".  He also said, "In this world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world".  Today, we remember what happened to our country 10 years ago.  It is still difficult to imagine how a small group of people, driven by an insane, cruel way of thinking could harm so many innocent people.  My mind and heart goes back to Jesus and how He came into this world to conquer death and bring life, not take it.


We have all been effected by these insane actions.  Our country and our world will never be the same.  So, we go forward carrying the Good News of Jesus.  "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.  Whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life".


I recall a terrible earthquake that struck Pakistan in late 2005.  Air Mobile was able to mobilize very quickly and carry in life-saving water purification systems....right to ground zero of that terrible earthquake.  The death-toll was over 100,000.  When we arrived, the earth was still being shaken by after-shocks.  So many were suffering.  The needs were so great.  


We were able to meet so many kind and gracious Pakistanis.  We were often asked, "Why have you come to our country to help us"?  My answer was very simple.  My Lord Jesus told us to bring clean water to the thirsty.  Many Pakistanis were very thirsty.  So we came and obeyed our Lord.  We had many deep and wonderful discussions during those days.


So, here we are in America, looking back to a terrible attack on our country.  What should we do?  My simple and humble suggestion is to "Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith".  Simply seek His direction in our hearts and ask Him what we should do.


Now, we are also urged to be "Sober and Vigilant, because our enemy, the devil, goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour".  Simply put, we should seek to help those in need and protect ourselves against those who wish to harm us.  May I urge you to pray for our leaders and those in authority that they seek the direction of the Lord to help navigate our Country through these turbulent days.

Now, as you know, we have been following the storms in the Caribbean.  I am very pleased to tell you that it appears as if Tropical Storm Maria is making a turn to the North / Northeast and, according to projections stay off-shore and away from people and property.  This will give the folks in the Islands and in the northeast a much needed break from more winds and rain.

Meanwhile, the folks in Texas desperately need rain to help with the ravaging wild-fires that have been scorching that land.  Please continue to pray for them in that region.  Tropical Storm Nate is diminishing and maintained that westerly direction headed for Mexico.  In scanning the region around the driest, most vulnerable areas of Texas, there is no immediate rain yet.........  We continue to PRAY!


Well, it's Sunday morning and we'll be heading out the door to Church and then to the Hospital to minister with those young people and staff.  We are so thankful for the privilege to do this.  We are so thankful for our country, where we have the freedom to move about and share freely the Good News of Jesus!  May you be blessed this day that our Lord has made and.....as always, THANK YOU for your prayer, love and support.

STRONG QUAKE RATTLES JAPAN - PRAISE GOD.....NO TSUNAMI / NO INJURIES - CHOLERA RESURGES IN HAITI - DINNER WITH SOME VERY DEAR FRIENDS

A local photo journalist shot me an e-mail asking if I heard about the 7.1 Earthquake that occured off the coast of Sendai, Northern Japan.  Sendai is where the 9.3 quake occurred in March.  Instantly, my mind went back to the death and destruction caused by the monstrous tsunami (60 feet high in places).  It was with great relief that the Tsunami alert was lowered and the reports began to come in of no injuries / deaths.  Having been through literally hundreds of quakes, many following very deadly ones, my heart went out to Japan and we prayed for the millions of Japanese.....that have to be emotionally shaken.  Please remember to pray for Japan this morning.

Also, news is coming in from Haiti that Cholera is surging in the Central Plateau Region.  The number of daily cases "reported" is over 1700.  This is a 300% increase over the March figures. Of course, the rainy season is here and the Cholera spreads like wild fire.  Did you know, that to date, there have been over 370,000 "reported" cases of Cholera and over 5500 recorded deaths?  

I am thankful, that you and others helped us to bring and deliver 5 Air Mobile Rescuers to the Gonaives region last month (Central Plateau Region).  We want to return as soon as our "Little Donkey", Ti Burik gets the paint job, but that is still several weeks away.  Looks like we're going to have to borrow a "friends" airplane again.  We have components and supplies to deliver, along with several more Rescuers.  PLEASE PRAY for Haiti and those that are fighting this dreadful disease.

There is much talk about how Cholera came to Haiti and who brought it here.  At this point, that is not important.  The thing that is important is:  The disease is here and we must fight the good fight to save lives.  Cholera can be treated quite easily.  Get clean water into the victim.  It can be prevented quite easily by people drinking clean water BEORE they become a victim.  Please pray that we will be able to get back to Haiti soon with more Rescuers and that we will be able to service / remanufacture as many units as we can to keep that clean water flowing!

Yesterday, Southwest Chuck and I replaced a few minor pieces on the Goldwing and inspected it thoroughly from the inside out. Oh my, what a clean, well engineered bike.  We are so thankful to Chuck for sharing his many gifts with us including helping our Air Mobile Team to travel all over the place at no charge!

Cindy and I waited out a few afternoon rain showers, then threaded our way along beautiful back country roads to the beautiful home of Randy and Lucy West.  Have known Randy for 25 years!  Met him "by chance" at a small airport just north of Orlando.  An instant friendship was established that has only grown over these many years.  Randy has courageously joined me on many an "excellent adventure".  Well, tonight's dinner was to celebrate Lucy's birthday.  Cindy and I were honored to be invited .

We were able to share story after story about our "crazy" adventures in the "Cause of Christ" and bringing clean water to the thirsty and desperate.  Of course, everyone loved the "Old Goldwing".  Can you believe this beauty is 16 years old and has over 90,000 miles.  I appreciate the gift of our Lord that allows us to have a bit of fun in the midst of the battle.

Lucy (The Birthday Girl) is on the right, then Randy and his Mom, Phyllis.  Well, I offered each of the Ladies a Goldwing Ride.  They all took me up on it, including Randy's Mom!  She informed me that she reads the "Rambling Air Mobile Joe Blog" every day!  What a wonderful evening we had.  By the way, doesn't the old Goldwing look great.  I love how our Lord can use our "toys" for His kingdom.  

Well, it's Sunday morning and we're getting ready for Church.  Then off to the Hospital to minister with those precious young people and staff.  I know I say this often, but mean it from my heart, THANK YOU for "threading through" the long and winding road of my little blog.  Thank you for your prayer and love and support.  God Bless!!

AIR MOBILE PREPARING FOR NEXT MISSION (At Home & Abroad) - A FAITHFUL SERVANT GOES HOME - PROBLEMS IN UGANDA

The service at the Hospital yesterday was a reminder of the “mission” that Air Mobile has “at home”.  Our service began with the young people “setting up” the cafeteria (our “Church” location for the past 6 years.  The facility can seat just over 100.  A typical service usually “comfortably” fills the room.  The young people got right to work knowing just what to do….arranging the chairs, removing the napkins and salt/pepper shakers.  Meanwhile, I set up the computer, the projector and the sound system.  We just quietly went about our work.  So good having our little “deacons” to help.

Right on time, the “Church” began to fill up.  Today, it would be a full house and we’d need to move the chairs from the girls side to the boys side.  Before the worship began, I had a “fatherly” talk with the congregation.  Last week, my son Christian (and his family) filled in for us, as I was in Haiti and Cindy in Massachusetts.  Well, during the service last week, some of the young people got out of hand and momentarily disturbed Christian’s message on “overcoming obstacles when things are not going well”.

I reminded the young people that this “Church” is a privilege and that it could be revoked anytime.  They listened very attentively and realized that their actions could indeed have some serious consequences.  They were exceptionally good.  They usually are.  You know, it’s kind of like when a “substitute” teacher comes to class….the kids try to get away with what they can. 

As I shared on Matthew 21 (we are going through the book of Matthew chapter by chapter), we read about our Lord’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a “little donkey”.  Of course, this was a wonderful opportunity for me to share about our “little donkey”.  As a matter of fact, shared about the flight into Sanford, FL on Saturday (read yesterday’s blog about our “dodging” that terrible storm).  The young people enjoy our “Mission Adventures”. The overall message was on the love of the Lord and how Jesus knows exactly what we are going through and how He can sustain us and give us the victory.

At the end of the service, a young lady came up to me and told me in “no uncertain words” that she wanted to be a missionary.  I could see that she was completely serious.  We prayed together.  Often, it is in the seemingly small things in life that profound things happen.  I truly believe that that prayer went deep and that life-changing things went on in the young ladies’ heart.  It looks like our “Mission” truly is “Home and Abroad”.

I just received a call from Jean Spee.  Jean regretfully informed me that her husband George went on to be with the Lord recently.  George had been one of the best mission coordinators that I have ever worked with!  George has helped Air Mobile to coordinate at least 50 missions over the years throughout the Caribbean.  This morning, he is being laid to rest today in Twin Falls, Idaho.  We will certainly miss George.  Please remember to pray for Jean as she walks through life without her faithful companion of nearly 60 years.  One thing we know, George is with the Lord. 

Right after the call from Jean, received a call from Uganda (just moments ago).  Two of our Rescuer units are in operation there.  They are dealing with extremely fine particulate in the water.  We spent quite some time going over the situation and discussing solutions.  I’ll let you know how this one turns out.  Well, time to get this blog posted today.  Hope the phone quits ringing so that I can get it up and posted.  As always, THANK YOU for your love and prayer and support!
