THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES....JUNE 2019C

SO CAL....TEETERING....HIGH ANXIETY

After the MAJOR 7.1 QUAKE and nearly non-stop after-shocks, the residents of the quake zone are experiencing HIGH ANXIETY.

SO CAL 7.1 EARTHQUAKE RATTLES STATE "WARY OF THE BIG ONE"!

The big question is....WHAT'S NEXT??

For the most part, the region has dodged the bullet in that there are no reported fatalities and limited damage.

However, this is the perfect time to GET READY!  In many ways, it is a message to us all to PREPARE!

Here is some wise counsel....

Officials were urging residents to keep supplies handy — batteries, flashlights, a pair of sneakers — if they hadn’t already.
“Don’t be paralyzed by fear,” Josh Rubenstein, the spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, wrote on Twitter. “Arm yourself with knowledge and a plan. Talk about what you would do when a big one hits. I myself just did that with my daughter and my wife.”
Of course, we know the importance of CLEAN WATER.  Earthquakes do BAD things to water supplies, mainly because they break up water lines underground thus causing "CROSS CONTAMINATION" between clean water and sewage.

That is why we're preparing as many Air Mobile Rescuers as we can to get ready to deploy to the disaster area if need be.

So, on this Sunday morning, as we're preparing for Church and the Chaplain services at the hospital, we're getting ready for what might lie ahead.

I believe that California has been spared and given a clear warning to get ready.  NOW is the best time to PREPARE!!

PLEASE pray about sending a gift to help us to be in a position to DEPLOY IMMEDIATELY with CLEAN WATER.

You may use the "DONATE" button in the upper left hand of this blog.  If you'd like to simply mail a check, the Air Mobile Mailing address is:

As I say every single day and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

7.1 QUAKES ROCKS SO-CAL

Following the most powerful quake in 20 years (6.4), last night at 11:07 Eastern time, the same region was ROCKED by a 7.1 quake.

BTW, from a 6.4 to 7.1, the intensity is magnified 11 times!

Here's more on the developing story - 7.1 MAJOR EARTHQUAKE ROCKS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Air Mobile is following this story very closely.  We're THANKFUL to have Air Mobile Rescuers "READY TO GO".

Please PRAY for those who are in the middle of this developing disaster.

The 6.4 Quake that struck in the Ridgecrest area is now being called a "Fore Shock" to the 7.1 Quake.

Reports are coming in of injuries, extensive damage and power outages.

All in the area are being warned of "After-Shocks" in the 6.0 range.  If you are in the earthquake affected zone, BE CAREFUL!!

If you have the opportunity, be sure to begin collecting and gathering emergency supplies such as water, food, medicine, batteries etc.

Stay tuned.

UBER - LIRR - UBER - FRONTIER....HOME

We packed up and navigated our way home from New York City.  UBER works like a dream. What a great system.

The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) was right on time and smooth as silk.

Flying in and out of Islip, NY was certainly simple and so much less crowded.  We boarded our Frontier flight right on time.

Was impressed with Cindy and Ari carefully reading the Emergency procedures while the Flight Attendant went through the motions.  How many of us never look at it....perhaps we should.

The Frontier flight was pleasant and also smooth as silk and.... we landed 15 minutes early.  Love it when the system works so well!

So glad that we could provide this wonderful trip for Ari-2 who worked so hard for it.

Congratulations again Ari-2!!

Good to be home.  We're "Gearing up" for the NEXT MISSION!

Well, on the Friday between the 4th of July and the weekend, when most are taking a long weekend, may we be reminded about what a great nation we have and how blessed we are.

THANK YOU, as always, for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

What a wonderful country that we live in.  All I can say is....GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

So glad that we could be in New York City on this wonderful day of celebration for this great country!!

Just had an amazing day in the Big Apple.  We struck out for a pleasant walk / subway / Uber our way through this incredible city.

Stopped at the River to take it all in.  The day just could not have been any more beautiful.

A slight overcast yielded a lovely low 80's temp.  A bit cooler than in Florida!!

The panorama could not have been any more beautiful.  We just had our own pleasant slice of New York City and could not have enjoyed it any more.

Of course we had to go to Central Park.  Here, Cindy and Ari struck out for a bit of a "Power Stroll".

Several times, while on the subway, we just got flat-out lost and turned around.  Know what, each time, a helpful New Yorker would take the time to show the way.  A very nice experience.

As this glorious day before Independence Day ended, we found ourselves at the Theater to see "Waitress".  We're keeping that promise made to Ari-2 and loving every bit of it!!

The show was amazing and had a very good ending.

We stepped out of show and walked a half block to Times Square.  Again, a great place to be on the eve of the 4th of July.

We're up early this morning, about to "back-track" our steps from Mid-Town Manhattan to the Long Island Railroad to McArthur Airport (Islip) and back to sunny, and rather warm Florida.

This has been an incredible trip and now we're heading home.  And, again, I say it with all of my heart, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

And, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

NEW YORK CITY BOUND...& "LOCKED OUT"...

We arrived at Orlando International bound for New York City and the fulfilling of a promise.

Again, we're so proud of Ari-2 for a job well done.  I'm especially thankful for my Cindy's love.

Frontier Airlines provided the "ride" to Islip (McArthur Field), NY.  We had a smooth flight and arrived right on time.

From there, it was a short taxi ride to the platform of the Long Island Railroad (LIRR).

An hour later, we arrived at Penn Station in Midtown.

The weather was simply delicious and we trekked to our "AirBnb" apartment.

Cindy found a great deal on a lovely place right in the middle of Midtown, surrounded by parks and Museums and shops and great restaurants!

After a delicious Italian dinner in a classic NY Restaurant, full of "Atmosphere" and a db level of 110+ we collapsed in our Airbnb.

Oh, one thing did happen of interest.  Cindy and the Ari's went out for one little shopping jaunt.  I remained at our pad.

"LOCKED OUT...."

When they arrived, I went to open the outer door and the inner door quietly shut behind me....leaving us in the hallway...locked out.

We found the "Supervisors" number and called him.  He was in the Bronx caring for his mother.  Here we were in the hallway waiting for the "Super" to board a train back to Mid-town.

I was reminded of one of my all time favorite Scriptures found in Matthew 7:7...."Knock & the door will be opened".  I prayed and spiritually "knocked".

I felt so stupid for letting that door lock behind me and felt just like the little boy knocking.

One of our neighbors arrived and I explained our plight.  She shared how this had happened to her and with a "strategic placement" of a credit card that door just might open.

I eased it into place and slowly slid it down and....IT OPENED!

The Lord heard my prayer.  The rest of the evening was uneventful.  Up early and ready for the day in Midtown Manhattan!

Again, THANK YOU, as always for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

KEEPING A PROMISE....

Several years ago, my Cindy began "mentoring" a young lady from a local High School. Her name is Ari, so we call her Ari-2 so as not to mix her up with our Ari.

Somewhere along this journey, Cindy promised Ari-2 that if she Graduates, we'd take her to a Broadway Show in New York City.

Well, on May 23rd, Ari-2 Graduated...with Flying Colors!

Yea Ari-2 & Cindy for a job well-done!!

With the help of some inexpensive tickets on Frontier, a great deal on an "Airbnb" (place to stay) and a couple of days off from the Hospital for Cindy...."we're going to New York City this morning".

This will be a whirlwind trip, as we're returning on Thursday, July 4th.

I'm so proud of my Cindy for her faithful love for Ari-2 and likewise proud of Ari-2 for sticking with it and letting her wonderful gifts flow.  God is Good!!

So, it's time for Cindy, Ari-1, Ari-2 and me to head to the airport and embark on this New York Adventure!!

As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!!

GEARING UP....

Back in Florida and preparing for...."
THE NEXT MISSION".

We've got Air Mobile Rescuer Water Purifiers "ready to go" to the next disaster.

We don't know when the next hurricane will dance through the Caribbean, but we're ready!

BTW, we're very THANKFUL that the tropics have been quiet.  Could it be..."the calm before the storm"??

Remember the old adage....."IT ONLY TAKES ONE!!"

Here's a 2019 Outlook.  Again, we're THANKFUL that the season has been so quiet but....we're keeping an eye out and Air Mobile Rescuers READY!!

Meanwhile, Don George, of Don George Aircraft is getting his shop back together following the terrible fire and should have the rear engine for the Little Donkey done in the next few weeks.

PRAISE GOD!  I've missed that sweet little bird.

Will be continuing my flight training and getting ready for the...CHECK RIDE.  Looking forward to that.

Cindy, Ari, I and our friend Ari will be traveling to New York City tomorrow to fulfill a promise made.  It'll be a fun trip and one well deserved.  Will tell you more later.

So, on this beautiful Monday morning in sunny Florida, the mission goes on.

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

ARI THE "AUTHOR"

What a joy to see our Ariana at her first "Book Signing" for "Parasols & Peril", an incredible book of adventure, grace and forgiveness.

She was dressed in the style of 1865 and was absolutely lovely.

We are so proud of our Ari, as she is fully walking in her gift of writing.

Her second book, "Mansions & Mayhem" will be published soon.

And yes, she's already working on her third book.

All of her books are in the "Adventures in Grace" series.

We are thrilled to see Ariana using her gifts for the Glory of God!!

Cindy was working at the hospital yesterday and it was my joy to accompany this lovely young writer to this book signing.

Among the other Authors at this lovely book signing (at the New Beginnings Bookstore in Titusville) was the legendary Ike Rigell.

Ike recently published his Memoir titled simply "Ike".  What an amazing book from his amazing life.

It was inspiring to see the youngest author (Ari at 14) and the oldest author (Ike at 96!) at this wonderful event.

Notice Katherine (Ike's lovely wife) looking on.  Katherine is 91 years old.  We love Ike and Katherine!!

Ike is truly a legend.  Having served in the Pacific in World War II and went on the become one of the top Rocket Scientist for the U.S. Space Program.

Ike's service to our Lord, his family and our country is truly commendable.  It was an honor to be with Ike and Katherine at this event.  What a great experience for our Ari!

We were blessed to have our dear friend and fellow Chaplain, Lisa Menendez at the event.

Lisa and her husband Afred have served with Cindy and I at the hospital in Orlando for many years.

Here's a short video capturing the time at this wonderful event.

It was also a blessing having Larry Rittenhouse with us.  Larry has done awesome engineering work on the electronics on our water purifier.

He's also a Veteran of the Korean War and a true patriot and brother in Christ.

Again, THANK YOU for your truly appreciated prayer, love and support!!!

A SAD NOTE....

Our dear friend and brother in Christ, Jimmy Ray Akins passed away on June 21st at the age of 80.  Jim, as we called him, is the father of our Pastors wife, Lori.

Jim has been a pillar in our church, Redeemer, since the very first service.  Cindy and I were in that service.

Everyone loved Jim and he'll be sorely missed.  A sweeter, gentler, more loving man, you will not find.

Please PRAY for the Akin family as they deal with the loss of this very precious man of  God!

We'll be attending the funeral this morning.  Here are the details, if you'd like to attend:

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JIMMY RAY AKINS

Later this afternoon, we'll be attending the Book Signing for Ari's book, Parasols and Peril.  Just scroll down to yesterday's blog for the details.

BTW, I rolled into our driveway at 2:00am.  It was a long (14 hour), but safe drive from Tennessee back to Florida.

I'm glad to be home!!

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious prayer, love and support!!

FLORIDA BOUND....

Well, it's time to hit the road for Florida.  Have had an amazing time at the "Retreat Cabin".  We're making good progress on establishing a solid "Staging Area" for future missions.  For that, we're THANKFUL!

Tomorrow, our very own Ariana Hurston, Author, will be doing a book signing for her first published book, Parasols & Peril (Amazon).

PARASOLS & PERIL - ADVENTURES IN GRACE BY ARIANA HURSTON

The location will be at the New Beginnings Christian Bookstore in Titusville.  We're so proud of Ari!!!

Here's more - THE NEW BEGINNINGS CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE - UPCOMING BOOK SIGNING

The New Beginnings Christian Bookstore is located at:
3550 S. Washington Ave. Suite 5
Titusville, FL   32780

The Book-Signing will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.  Hope to see you there!!!

Ari is a dedicated and gifted writer and has already completed her second book (Mansions & Mayhem) which is now being edited.

And yes, she's already writing her third book.  GO ARI!!

I'll be joining Ari and will be signing my "first" book "Run To The Roar".  There will be a number of other gifted writers from our area.

Been working on book 2 (for some time), but need to take a lesson from Ari and "just keep writing".  I get stuck.

So, it's time for me to fix the coffee thermos, close up the "Retreat Cabin" and hit the road for the 12 hour journey back to Florida.

As always, THANK YOU for your truly appreciated prayer, love and support!!!

INCREASING OUR STAGING AREAS....

Over the years, Cindy and I have been preparing the "Retreat Cabin" as another "Staging" area for Air Mobile.

Our plan is coming together and we're THANKFUL to our Lord for blessing these efforts.

In our research of this area of Tennessee, we're finding that there will be excellent opportunities to offer advanced flight training with a strong emphasis on Missionary Aviation.

As I've pointed out in past blogs, there is a major global "Pilot Shortage".  We're hoping to attract new recruits in this area.  We will be offering a unique aspect of flight training that will be primarily based on "actual" mission flights.

All of the local airport managers in this area, whom we've contacted, are excited about offering this invaluable service.

We have lived in Florida for many years, and know the inherent danger of living close to sea level during disasters, especially hurricanes.

By having a strong mission / relief arm in Tennessee, we'll be able to deploy into the stricken coastal areas from a position of strength.

Now, before I go on, let me say clearly that Cindy and I are standing on Proverbs 3:5-6 for our direction.

Simply put...."May God's will be done in our lives!!!!"

Well Folks, that is our plan.  We will likely not fully engage this plan until next year.

Ariana is in a wonderful school (Park Avenue Christian Academy) and we want her to complete the 8th Grade before we make the move.

We will likely spend more time in Tennessee than in Florida.  However, We will maintain our base in Florida.

We have excellent maintenance support and hangars located at Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, FL.  But, most important, we have so many dear & precious friends in Florida!!

Well, it's time for me to wrap up this mission to the "Retreat Cabin".  Will be heading back to Florida in the morning.

I can't begin to tell you how much we appreciate your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

COFFEE GIVES THAT "WARM" FEELING INSIDE....

Anyone who reads this "Rambling Blog", knows that I love coffee.  I've always said, "Coffee is a Gift from God".

Well, here's another study telling the virtues of a good of cup of "Joe".

NEW STUDY SHOWS...COFFEE MAY HELP YOUR BODY BURN FAT!

This study (likely funded by Juan Valdez...LOL) explains how a good old cup of coffee "heats things up inside" and burns some bad fat.  Wow!

I can testify to the fact that a good cup of coffee does give a nice, warm fuzzy feeling inside.

It's especially good when you have a cup of coffee with your sweetheart or a good friend.

As a matter of fact, Cindy and I fell in love over a cup of coffee. We both LOVE coffee!

This shot is on my Facebook cover.

Well, enough of all of that about coffee.  As the last line of the article says, "don't go overboard", about 3 cups a day will likely do you some good.

Now, if your doctor tells you NOT to drink coffee, then DON'T....but, you may want to get a second opinion...LOL!

Time to head out and do a bunch of things getting ready to head back to Florida on Friday.  Enjoy that cup of coffee and be blessed!

THANK YOU, as always, for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

One of the sweet things about being at the Retreat Cabin alone is that I can just let the Word of God play all day.

Being "immersed" in the Word causes faith to rise.  It also lets me know just how much I need the Lord in my life.

I came across this wise saying....

"When we immerse ourselves in the Word of God, we are immersing ourselves in God"!

Even though I have chores and errands and projects, still, just listening to the Word brings strength and wisdom and peace to my heart.

Through the simple technology of a blue tooth ear piece and good APPS like "YouVersion", I can take the Word of God with me most everywhere I go.

THANK GOD FOR HIS WORD....WHAT A GIFT TO US ALL!!

We're all busy and have things to do and often, it's not easy or convenient to Hear His Word.  But....with a little creativity and technology and above all, desire, one can bring His Word into our lives.

I encourage you to spend some time in His Word today.  Your day will go better if you do.

And, I know I say this every single day, but I mean it with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

EMBRACE GRACE....

While sipping a cup of coffee this morning, and listening to the birds singing and chatting (the crows) to one another, the thought came to me to...simply embrace the grace of God.

Sometimes, I get overwhelmed by just how good our Lord is.  I love His promise to us....I'll never leave you nor forsake you.

Yes, His Grace is Amazing!!

Cindy and I are working on a means to spend more time up here in the mountains of East Tennessee.

We're developing a groundwork that will allow us to do this.  We're THANKFUL to our Lord for making the way.

So, on this beautiful day I rejoice and will take the time to Embrace His Grace more fully.  May I encourage you to open your Heart to His Amazing Grace!!

THANK YOU, as always, for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

A QUIET SUNDAY IN THE MOUNTAINS.....

THANK GOD, the storms danced through here yesterday with no significant damage, just a lot of rain.

Will be heading to a little Baptist Church this morning.  East Tennessee has a LOT of Baptist Churches.  They sure do love Jesus around these parts.

I never take our Religious Freedom, that we enjoy here in America, for granted!!

THANK YOU, LORD!!

Yesterday evening, had dinner with Dave and Jane.  We were joined by David Chesney, the father of Kenny Chesney, the Country Singer.

He had a couple of cool stories about his famous son, Kenny.

I found out that Kenny rides around in a Falcon 900EX, N7KC.

You never know who you're going to have dinner with here in the Mountains of East Tennessee.

Yes, the Folks up here in this neck of the woods sure do love Jesus and Country music!!

BTW, David and Jane's family farm has been in continual operation for over 200 years.

It was a lovely evening with great fellowship, an amazing dinner and couple of fun games of pool.

So, on this beautiful and peaceful Sunday Morning, time to get to Church.

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!
