TWO WEEKS AGO TODAY....
We were all shaken by the terrible kidnapping of 17 Missionaries in Haiti 2 weeks ago.
Today, they are still being held and very little information is being released.
Here's the latest - 17 HOSTAGES BEING HELD - HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW
Gangs control much of Port-au-Prince and the situation is getting worse by the day. Literally hundreds of thousands are suffering.
PLEASE remember Haiti and the kidnapped hostages in your PRAYER.

We continue to PRAY for their safe release.
Meanwhile, we're working on getting Air Mobile Rescuers in position to help those in need of CLEAN WATER.
Here, Gang-Directed trucks are blocking access to fuel terminals, further exacerbating the suffering through fuel shortages.
Street Vendors are unable to do commerce throughout Port-au-Prince, creating more suffering.

AN URGENT CALL IN THE NIGHT.....
Received a call from a Missionary in Haiti with an URGENT request.
Not only going out to get clean water, but being able to PAY for clean water.
This mission group (I will not name them at this time for Security Reasons) is familiar with the Air Mobile Rescuer water purifier and wanted to know if we could provide one immediately.
The answer was: YES!
On our last mission to Haiti, we left several unfunded units at our Base Camp for just such an occurrence.
We'll be working on the details to get a unit "SAFELY" delivered to this mission ASAP!!

The drive is just spectacular. Just THANKFUL for the beauty all around us.

Even Haitians, who are "kidnap-weary", are shocked by the BRAZEN kidnapping of 17 American/Canadian Missionaries (men, women & children).
We are now in Day 4 since the Saturday kidnapping.
Due to "Operational Considerations", details of communications with the Gang are not being released.
However, it does appear that the 17 are, for the moment, unharmed. However, this can change quickly.
This Gang,"400-Mawazo" is known to kill their hostages.
WE PRAY for a MIRACLE for the hostages to be RELEASED UNHARMED!!

At this point in this unfolding tragedy, we do not have any more information.
The Missionaries were kidnapped near the town Ganthier, just east of Port-au-Prince. We do not know where they are being held.
No published ransom demands have been made, but both Haitian and American Officials are working the situation.
This whole matter is EXTRMELY VOLATILE and we are PRAYING FOR A BREAK-THROUGH MIRACLE!!

A LOVEY PLACE TO STAY....& A WAY TO "TENT MAKE"
Several years ago, Cindy and I did an experiment in Air BnB. The Air BnB system provides a wonderful place to stay without the large crowds of a conventional hotel.
Since we draw no salary from Air Mobile, we thought this would help supplement our Social Security.
Cindy and I have been "Tent Makers" for many years. The Air BnB model appeared to be an excellent choice.
Occupancy has been around 90%!

Then, we built out what was our "Summer Kitchen" on our "Retreat Cabin". This became the "Quaint Country Cottage".
In addition to being a wonderful place for Cindy's Dad when he visits, we've rented it out in between his visits.

So far, our Air BnB Experiment has been working well.
Yesterday, we borrowed enough money from the equity in the "Retreat Cabin" to purchase a lovely, 101 year old "Bungalow" in Bristol, TN.
For the next few days, we'll be furnishing and decorating "The Beautiful Bristol Bungalow".

Cindy and I went to Knoxville yesterday for my regular Cancer check-up.
Well, there's something we need to investigate further. Next week I'll have a biopsy and a few other tests to see what's going on.

FAREWELL MY FRIENDS....
They were on a motorcycle "RUN" across the Blue Ridge and blessed us by spending an evening with us here at the "Retreat Cabin".
Spent quality time in the Word of God and reflecting on the "crazy things" going on in this world and how these things relate to the soon Return of Jesus.
Yesterday, we all went to Little Mulberry Baptist Church and heard a great message from Pastor John.
After a quick lunch, the guys loaded up their motorcycles and headed back to Florida.

THE ROAR OF 3 MOTORCYCLES....
Yesterday evening, my good friend, Pastor Steve Goodner led the pack of 3 motorcycles up to our "Retreat Cabin".
Here's what happened. Yesterday, Cindy, Ari and I went for pleasant "ride" to Yoders Country Market in Bull Run, TN.
Yoders is Amazing! Great food and an incredible selection of Amish delectables.
While shopping, my phone rang and it was Pastor Steve. Steve is the Pastor of Rocket Town Church in Titusville and is a faithful supporter of Air Mobile.
He explained that he and his son, Isaac and his son-in-law, John had been on motorcycle run up the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Isaac, an Air Force Sergeant, had just returned from a dangerous "mission" to Afghanistan. A pleasant motorcycle ride would be fine reward after the mission.
Well, rain and just plain bad weather left the 3 cyclers needing a warm and welcome stay at the "Retreat Cabin".
So, last night they rolled in and we had a nice dinner and warm showers for them.
Over dinner, we had a great time recalling Steve's first mission to Haiti many years ago.
Just sitting around our dinner table and reflecting on the "Signs of the Times" brought us to Matthew 24/25 and the soon Return of Jesus!
Somehow, this whole evening seemed like a page right out of the Book of Acts.
This morning, after breakfast, we'll be going to Little Mulberry Baptist Church. Can't begin to tell you how pleasant it is to have these guys with us.
We're THANKFUL to have this "Retreat Cabin" available for weary travelers and those of the Body of Christ.

TAKING A RIDE.....
This morning, Cindy, Ari and I will be taking a nice ride to the town of Bulls Gap. It's about an hour away.
Who knows what we may find along the way.
They have great food and so much more.
Going to be a wonderful ride here in the mountains of East TN.
Country living brings a lot of joy in the simple things in life....like taking a ride in an old truck with 400,000+ miles on it and an empty bed for "treasures" we may find along the way.
Still a little early, but the change is coming.
OK, we're having a good time up here and loving it!

COUNTRY INGENUITY
While waiting at our local mechanic shop, saw this old Chevy Pick- Up come rattling into the parking lot.
I noticed the boat motor gas tank "coat-hanger wired" to the running board.
The driver told me that the original gas tank rusted out and he needed to keep driving.
He could even double his fuel supply by mounting another boat motor tank on the driver side.
FILL-ER-UP!!
While putting on the new tires, the mechanic noticed that the rear universal join on my old Dodge Ram was about to come apart.
Life is good, here in the mountains of East TN.

BETWEEN THE SHOWERS.....
Well, it's certainly been rainy for the last few days here in the Mountains of East TN.
Then, yesterday, there came a nice break "between the showers" and my good neighbor and Brother-in-Christ, Rich, dashed over to the Retreat Cabin and we went to work.
Some time ago, I bought an old (what looked like a worn-out) Bush Hog.
Rich and I dug it out from under an old tarp and began going through it.
Greased all the fittings, aired up the little back tire, and added some heavy motor oil to the transmission.
Fired up my 1975 Massey Ferguson 230 tractor, engaged the PTO (Power Take-Off) and the bush hog spun "smooth as silk"& "spun like a top"!
Immediately headed into one of our over-grown fields and "Bush-Hogged" it right down.
PRAISE GOD for good neighbors and heavy duty, old, well-made farm equipment.
On another note, even though I'm showing no COVID-19 symptoms, I like to periodically take a COVID-19 test.
As you, who ramble down this road of life with me know, I go into some pretty intense areas that have a lot of COVID-19 infections.
Was pleased and THANKFUL to get a NEGATIVE result back.
THANK YOU JESUS for your continued protection.

RAINY DAY.....
Yesterday was the Annual Fall Festival here in Sneedville, TN.
Love the Tractor Parade. Yes, tractors are an integral part of life here in Sneedville.
But today, looks like the rain is going to mess up the Festival. But....we need the rain.
Just enjoying life here in the Mountains of East TN....even though my LSU Tigers lost a hard fought game to Auburn. We just got out-played.

A TIME TO REFLECT....
Being at the "Retreat Cabin", in between "missions" allows me time to reflect on the things I've seen over the last few months.
I knew when President Moise was assassinated on July 7th, things would heat up politically in Haiti. And they did, with roving gangs and kidnapping and murders.
Then....the 7.2 Earthquake hit the southern Peninsula on August 14th. With that terrible quake, Air Mobile had to GO!
And GO we did bringing in 10 Air Mobile Rescuer Water Purifiers, THANKS to the generosity of you our donors! We landed in Haiti on August 16th.
I've known Bobby and Sherry for over 43 years. Love them!!
We deployed all 10 units in very strategic locations.
Returned to the U.S. to RELOAD with 10 more Air Mobile Rescuers destined for Les Cayes, Haiti. Another town hard hit.
But....Hurricane IDA hit Louisiana, my home state on August 29th. I knew that Air Mobile had to GO!
Loaded up the Little Donkey and flew to Hammond, LA. Met up with dear friends Dan and Charlene Andrews, who hosted me and gave an excellent STAGING AREA.
Then Linked up with the Louisiana Cajun Navy. We've worked with these Guys before.
Together we were able to strategically place Air Mobile Rescuers.
Upon returning to Tennessee from Louisiana, we were able to RELOAD the Little Donkey with 10 more Rescuers and it was back to Haiti.
After landing in Haiti on September 19th, we secured Flight Authorization to fly back into Jeremie and deploy another "Rescuer" with Mayor Yves Rose.
Then, the next day we flew into Les Cayes were we linked up with YWAM (Youth With A Mission).
We traveled to San Luis du Sud and presented 2 Air Mobile Rescuers to Mayor Edwin Ceiede.
It was a pleasure meeting Mayor Edwin and hearing his remarkable story. He's a GREAT MAYOR!
At the end of the day, I presented Tyler Emmorey of YWAM with 2 Air Mobile Rescuers.
At the end the "mission", I gave Barbara Walker a ride back to the U.S. and she spent a couple of days with us here at the Retreat Cabin.
Whew!! It's been a busy couple of months.
I'm glad to be home for a while!
