FIRST DRIVE SINCE....

Yesterday, I took a little drive in the Ford Escape.  This was the first time I've driven since my surgery 3+ weeks ago.

It went well, but upon returning to the cabin...I was quite sore.  Will give it another week or so before driving again.

Well, on this beautiful Sunday morning, we're getting ready to go to Church.  

So THANKFUL for the freedom to Worship God!  May we never take it for granted!

And...THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!

OH...TO WALK AGAIN

Each day, I'm gaining "Range of Motion" (ROM).  The Physical Therapy (PT) is certainly paying off.

Pain level is decreasing & ROM is increasing.

I am so THANKFUL for this amazing procedure (full-knee replacement) that is giving me the ability to walk again.

I'm especially THANKFUL to Cindy and Ari who are taking such good care of me during this time of recovery.

And...THANK YOU for your greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

Every Friday morning, I join a prayer group from around the world.

Through the wonder of the internet, we hear from folks, some in extreme danger due to war, and many under forces of darkness.  

Yet, the courage and grace that flows through the POWER OF PRAYER is AMAZING!

OUR LOVELY VALLEY....

The hay is cut and about to be fluffed & rolled.  Just makes our lovely valley even more beautiful.

I'm so pleased to let you know my new knee is working beautifully and the PT (Physical Therapy) is going very well.

I am also blessed to announce that a donation, from multiple generous donors, toward the India Orphanage has been made and the construction is progressing well.

MAKING HAY...WHILE THE SUN SHINES

I captured this moment in time while our good neighbor, Don, is "making hay" while the sun is shining.

At the same time, Yahn and his daughters, Ava & Lilly are making the duck pond.  What a lovely moment.

BTW, that was one of my Momma's favorite expressions.  She would tell me..."Baby, you gotta make hay while the sun shines".  In other words, "Seize the moment and do it while the time is right."

Yesterday, Cindy and I made the run to Bristol, TN and deposited the donation for Sam & family to continue building the orphanage in India for the children who have been rescued from child trafficking.

So, today, we'll continue doing what our Lord directs.

OUT & ABOUT

Today, Cindy and I will take the pleasant drive to Bristol, TN (an hour and a half).

There, we will be depositing a donation to Sam's ministry toward the construction of a fine orphanage in India.  Very generous donors have made this donation.

Cindy and I are proud of the excellent work that Sam and his family have done, for the cause of Christ, for 3 generations now.  It is our honor to be part of it.

And, I'm very THANKFUL for the excellent recovery I am experiencing following my knee-replacement surgery.

While out, we may even try to go see "The Sound of Freedom", an incredible movie about child /sex-slavery.  It depends upon how well I hold up.

Well, it's time to get ready to head out to Bristol.

THE JOY OF WALKING....&  HEALING!

Up this morning, to a good cup of coffee and a nice walk down the hallway...without a walker!  LIFE IS GOOD!

And, on this lovely Sunday morning, we'll be going to our sweet Church, Little Mulberry Baptist Church.  Have missed our Church family.

The Physical Therapy (PT) is going very well...not nearly as painful as when I first began this full-knee replacement journey.

Folks, I'm so glad that the decision to replace was made and now I'm on sweet side of recovery.

Again, THANK YOU, those who have prayed for me and the medical staff who are treating me and Cindy and Ari who are taking  such good care of me!

All I can say is THANK YOU JESUS for your grace, mercy and healing!

A GOOD REPORT...& A FRESH START!!

Cindy and I had a pleasant drive to Morristown to meet with my Surgeon, Dr. Christopher, for a "Post-Op" check-up.

I had an X-Ray and saw the Full-Replacement knee.  WOW!!  What a BEAUTY!!  

Folks, I can't begin to tell you how THANKFUL I am for this amazing technology.

I so well recall the deep pain I'd been having with my old knee  with it's bone on bone along with 4 bone spurs to boot.    

Now, I've got a brand new start on a fresh, bionic knee.  THANK YOU JESUS!!

The incision is healing beautifully and the PT (Physical Therapy) is moving right along.

Overall, I'm OVERWHELMED with God's goodness and excellent medical care along with an incredible medical team & especially for the loving care being given to me by my Cindy and Ariana.

So, on this lovely Saturday morning, life goes on and the BLESSINGS of GOD flow freely.

And, as I say every single day, and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

STEP BY STEP....

Still dealing with a fair measure of pain, but...getting stronger and stronger each day.  PT (Physical Therapy) is going well.  

Today, Cindy will be driving me to an appointment (Post-Op) with Dr. Christopher, my Surgeon.  Things are looking good.  PRAISE GOD!!

This will be my first time out of the "Retreat Cabin" since my surgery 2 weeks ago.  Was getting just a bit of "cabin fever".  Looking forward to the ride out.

STRANGE TIMES & GOOD RECOVERY

Sitting here in my comfortable recliner, sipping a delicious cup of Gavelia (my coffee of the day) and scanning the news, I marvel at the strange and revealing stories.  

Stories ranging from Cocaine in the White House to violations of free speech, along with the ever-unfolding "Laptop".

I ponder and wander, just what is the truth and what's really going on?

Then, I remember the Words of our Lord Jesus in John 10:27...."My Sheep hear My Voice..."

So, in this ever swirling world of fast moving news stories all wrapped up in major deception..."Just what should I believe and what should I do?"

My answer is simple..."Hang on tightly to the hand of Jesus and let the Word of God rule in my heart.

Meanwhile, the pain from the knee-replacement surgery is steadily coming down and pain meds are tapering off. 

GOD IS SO GOOD!!

So, here I sit, resting in Jesus and growing in grace and healing.

DAY 13...PAIN LEVEL GOING DOWN...PRAISE GOD!!

Between good pain meds, consistent PT (Physical Therapy), and good old ice, the level of pain is beginning to go down and I'm able to cut back on the pain meds.

Right now, I'm running around Level 3-4.

I can understand how folks can become addicted to the pain meds.  I'm blessed to have my Cindy who is great Psych nurse and understands pain narcotics very well....& is keeping a close eye on me.

At any rate, I'm definitely going in the right direction and getting stronger every day.

I must also admit, it's difficult to be here at the "Retreat Cabin" and unable to "dash out the door" in a moments notice, to go to some disaster.

Now, being here at the "Retreat Cabin" is a wonderful place to be.  The peace and comfort and beauty and joy certainly promotes healing, and for that, I'm very grateful.

Tomorrow, I'll be going to see my surgeon for my Post-Op at 2 weeks.  Things are looking good.

DAY 11....& I HAVE A REQUEST...

I'm especially THANKFUL for this wonderful "Retreat Cabin" where I find healing, peace and comfort.

At the same time, I can do the routine ministry work, such as writing receipt letters and personal correspondence, as well as coordinating manufacturing more Air Mobile Rescuer water purifiers where most needed.

I'd like to ask you to PRAY about something.  So many of you who are reading this "Rambling Blog" have faithfully prayed with us about so many deployments in the past.

Would you consider supporting Air Mobile Ministries on a regular basis?  This regular support would enable us to be more prepared for IMMEDIATE deployment following current disasters, as well as countries with on-going disasters.

A VERY SWEET TREAT....

I remember, as a little boy, going to my grandmother's house and eating her incredibly delicious Lemon Meringue Pie.

Well, yesterday, my sweet Cindy baked me a delicious Lemon Meringue Pie..as  delicious as my grandmothers.  A very sweet memory indeed.

On this lovely Sunday morning, I'm just going through my exercises and moving toward more complete mobility.

RE - CONNECTED & ON-TRACK

It is such a relief to be connected on-line and on-track regarding my exercise schedule.  

Of course, Physical Therapy (PT) is absolutely critical for a successful outcome.

But, the old adage..."No Pain, No Gain" holds true.

I also say....THANK GOD for good pain meds.  It helps being married to a "Psych Nurse" (my Cindy), who is keeping a very close eye on my pain-med intake.

Just goes with the territory.  For now, I'm just taking it an hour at a time.

EASY POUR....

While getting my PT (Physical Therapy), just outside, I heard the Cement truck back in and pour the floor for our new basement.

What a joy, to have progress on our new addition going forward while I'm "laid up" getting my new knee.

So, today, life goes on at the "Retreat Cabin".

Yesterday, Maria came to the "Retreat Cabin" with a remarkable knee machine that will certainly speed along my PT.

I sure do appreciate the latest technology to help with the long and painful PT process.

Since the knee joint replacement operation, I have been on steady PT process that will make this procedure work well.

STEADY AS SHE GOES....

Little by little and with a lot of love, Cindy and Ari are taking good care of me.

Bit by bit, I'm working various physical therapy techniques (PT) and feeling that new joint doing it's job.

Overall, I'm so glad that I decided to do this full-joint replacement.  

In the end, it will help me return to full use (I pray) of my right leg.

So, on with another day of PT and love.

A VERY ROUGH NIGHT.....

The excellent medical staff at the Sneedville, Hospital identified a significant deficiency  in sodium.

This required blood-work every 2 hours.  Add to this the pain of a full knee replacement only 3 days ago.  YES, IT WAS A ROUGH NIGHT!

My Cindy certainly smoothed things out a bit by bringing my laptop and and my favorite mug this morning.

Again, another blog, another post on this rambling journey through life.

THIS IS THE DAY....THAT OUR LORD HAS MADE

This morning, Cindy will bring me to the hospital for my full-knee replacement surgery.

We are trusting God that all will go well.  We have an excellent and skilled orthopedic team for which we are very THANKFUL!

I know that this will put me on a long and rather painful road of recovery with a lot of physical therapy.  But it will be well worth it to regain my ability to walk.

 

We are certainly THANKFUL for your PRAYERS!

Usually, by this time of the morning, I will have had my first cup of coffee.  But, due to surgery-protocol, I won't be able to get my first cup of coffee until the surgery is finished.

So, let's get this show on the road and "git-er-done"!

And remember...THIS IS THE DAY THAT OUR LORD HAS MADE.  LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT!!

TOMORROW....

If all goes as planned, I'll have a full-knee replacement done on my right knee tomorrow.

We are BELIEVING GOD for a very SUCCESSFUL OPERATION!

I can't begin to tell you much I appreciate your prayer!

I know that with this kind of surgery, Physical Therapy (PT) is a vital element for successful recovery & use.

So, after the surgery, there will be several months of healing and a lot of  PT.

I am very THANKFUL for our Air Mobile Team who will continue our vital ministry of bringing CLEAN WATER & the GOOD NEWS OF JESUS to a lost & thirsty world.

One of the things that I'm looking forward to during this time of recovery is completing my 2nd novel, "Storm Dancer", the sequel to my first novel, "Run To The Roar".

Cindy will be helping me with this.  She is an incredible editor.

Well, I'll be wrapping up a lot details today, before my surgery tomorrow.

THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS CITY....

Just saw this tragic and frightening story on Haiti's latest accomplishment....BECOMING THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS CITY!

This story is personal, as we know so many that are still in Haiti and our hearts break for their suffering and the extreme danger that they face daily.

I bring the story to you requesting your PRAYER for this terrible situation in our own back yard, Haiti.

Air Mobile recently (5-11-23) flew to Haiti and the Little Donkey transported a plane-load of critical medical supplies for a new Trauma Center.

We hope to send in more critical supplies in the future, but due to the extreme danger, we do not publish our travel dates.

So, as for me, I'm laying low and staying healthy in preparation for my total knee-replacement surgery this coming Thursday.

A PEACEFUL SATURDAY....

It's a quiet day here in the mountains of East TN.  Ari and I are awaiting Cindy's arrival from Florida.

She's dodged a lot of bad weather and should be here by early afternoon.  THANK YOU for your PRAYERS!

After a week of no internet here at the "Retreat Cabin", makes one appreciate having a strong signal.  

But maybe, just maybe, I don't need as much internet as I'd been having.  The peace & quiet is sweet.

This coming week, I'll be preparing for surgery (knee replacement).

I must admit, I'd put that surgery off as long as I could.  But now....I'M READY!  

The old knee (injured in a motorcycle accident years ago), is just plain worn out.

FINALLY....

Yesterday afternoon, our Internet was FINALLY re-connected.  What a relief.

However....being without the internet at home for nearly a week was a bit therapeutic.  I suppose it helped to clear my brain a bit without a lot of background noise.

At any rate, it is certainly convenient to sit down in my own chair and sip my own coffee brewed in my own coffee pot, while writing this daily rambling blog.

Yesterday afternoon, I dropped my Cindy at the McGhee Tyson (Knoxville) Airport where she caught a flight to Florida.  Today, she'll be driving her father's car, who recently passed away, back here to TN where we'll sell it.

Please PRAY for Cindy as she makes this drive, as there is a lot of serious weather along her route.

After Cindy boarded her flight to Florida, I just hung around Knoxville for a few hours and picked up Ariana who flew back from Florida.

It's so good having Ari home.  She is such a huge help to Cindy and I.  We've really missed her.

Time to get on with the chores here at the sweet "Retreat Cabin".

ANOTHER DAY....ANOTHER NO INTERNET....WORK AROUND

Well, here we are beginning Day 6 with no Internet at the "Retreat Cabin".

Our work-around is simple.  Find a strong signal and Blog!  We've kept this Blog string up and going for 13 years and...not missed a day!

Our favorite "Hot Spot" is the "Gathering Place", a comfortable spot with good coffee, delicious food & a strong signal.

If you've tried to reach us and not heard back, be patient, we'll respond as we gain that signal.

BTW, the loss of internet at the "Retreat Cabin", also knocked out our land line of 423-973-3569.  If you need to call me, please call me on my cell phone at 1-321-544-7757.

Cindy and I are driving to Knoxville for another of the multiple medical appointments I have before my surgery next week.

Folks, I'll tell you just how THANKFUL I am to have such good medical care and even have my own personal nurse & chauffer, Cindy!

DAY 3....NO INTERNET...AT THE "RETREAT CABIN"

So, how do we handle this?  Get up, have a cup of coffee and head on over the mountain to the "Gathering Place" where I find a strong signal.  Not a bad "work-around".

We hope to have that elusive, sensitive Fiber Optic line repaired today.  We'll see.

Later today, I'll be meeting with my surgeon for a "Pre-Op".  Surgery is schedule for June 22nd.  I'm "READY" for a new knee.

CHASING DOWN A SIGNAL....AT THE "GATHERING PLACE"

The ride to Sneedville is lovely, with winding switchbacks and panoramic views.

One of our favorite spots is "The Gathering Place".  There, we find sweet fellowship and good coffee.

So, on this rainy, stormy day, we'll hang out here for a while before heading back up to the "Retreat Cabin".

We're awaiting word from our Internet Provider as to when the technician can come out and restore our signal.  Not a bad place to hang out.

FIBER OPTIC IS VERY FAST BUT....VERY SENSITIVE

Well, looks like our internet at the "Retreat Cabin" is down again.  

The culprit appears to be a fiber optic cable that has not been properly trenched & buried. 

Thus, it appears there's a break somewhere in this very sensitive line.

So, Cindy and I have driven to a spot where my cell phone has enough signal for me to write and post my rambling, daily blog.

We hope to get this "weak spot" properly buried & resolved soon.

In the meantime, I'm THANKFUL that with a little driving, we can find a signal.

FOCUS ON JESUS....

Sitting here at the "Retreat Cabin", enjoying a great cup of coffee (Gevelia), I ponder the news.....but not too deeply.

Some stories just keep repeating themselves,  like the election and the war and the economy and just plain crazy stuff going on.  It's quite easy to get caught up in a swirl of emotions.

I find the best thing to do is...FOCUS ON JESUS!

Yesterday, Cindy and I drove to Morristown, TN (about an hour drive from our sweet "Retreat Cabin") running a few errands.

We were just talking about all the craziness going on.  Then, Cindy said..."let's listen to the Book of Revelation".  

We did. As we wound up and down & around a few "switch-backs" on the mountain road.   One thing is for sure, JESUS IS COMING BACK and we pray it is sooner than later.

Jesus tells us that that there'd be times like this, hold steady and keep your eyes fixed on HIM.

So, on this beautiful Saturday morning, we go about our chores and remember the Words of our Lord Jesus and... 

REJOICE that He HAS IT ALL UNDER CONTROL!

STAYING CLOSE....TO HOME

The next few weeks will be filled with medical appointments in preparation for knee replacement surgery.

I'll not be traveling very much during this time.  As always, there's plenty of work to be done here at the "Retreat Cabin".

Yet, Air Mobile is working on deploying multiple "Rescuers" in several hot spots around the world.

We are building units as our funds permit....for the next "Mission(s)".

On another note, the INDICTMENT of President Trump is, in my humble opinion, the  height of hypocrisy.

There are many things taking place behind the scenes of which we have little or no knowledge.  

However, the best thing we can do is....

PRAY FOR AMERICA!!!!!

As I say every single day and truly mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

Yesterday afternoon, Cindy and I rolled up to our "Retreat Cabin" after our wonderful get-away to England.

Our horses, donkeys, ducks, dogs & cats are thrilled to have us home, as are we.

What pleasant memories we have of England.

Time to get back to Air Mobile business & chores.

HEADING HOME... FROM AN EPIC ADVENTURE...

Yesterday began at 2:30AM GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) in London.

We made the hour drive from Blackheath to Heathrow.  Found 4 empty seats on Jet Blue, PRAISE GOD! 

Got our 4 hours back (TIME DIFFERENCE) and landed in Boston right on time.

In Boston, we found 4 more empty Jet Blue seats and landed in Orlando at 4:00PM.

BTW, THANK YOU JET BLUE &  CAPTAIN CRISS for the BUDDY PASSES & EXCELLENT SERVICE!!

There our good friend Lisa Menendez met us and took this shot.

Remember, a week ago, Lisa & April dropped us at this very airport to begin this epic adventure. THANK YOU LISA!

We then dropped Ari off (she's staying in FL with friends) and Cindy & I hit the road to our beloved "Retreat Cabin".

We made it to Brunswick, GA where exhaustion & jet lag collided.  Found a comfortable bed & collapsed.  it was a long day!

Up early and about to hit the road for the remaining 8 hours to home.

TIME TO HEAD HOME...

After a SPECTACULAR visit to England, we must head home.

We're flying Stand-By and we hope to board our Jet Blue flight at 7:25 AM if....there are 4 seats available.  We'll see. 

Oh, we have so many wonderful memories on this glorious Adventure.

Yesterday, Peter and I boarded the Cutty Sark and saw this amazing ship from end to end.  

At one time, it was the fastest ship in the world!

While we were on-board, Cindy and Ari explored (shopped) in the Village of Blackheath.

Then it was off to Westminster Abby.

Once inside...Oh What can I say! 

After our whirlwind stroll through such beauty and history, it was time to say goodby to Big Ben and the rest of downtown London.

So, here on this very early Tuesday morning, we're packing up and heading to Heathrow looking & praying for 4 empty Jet Blue seats.

Yes, the Adventure continues and THANK YOU for joining us!!

BIG OLD STONES....

The "mystery" of  Stonehenge only deepened for us yesterday.

After the beautiful 2 hour drive out of London and through the lovely English countryside, we found ourselves at STONEHENGE.

After browsing through the expansive Visitor Center and scanning the many theories of who & when this absolutely incredible structure was built, we headed out to see it up close and personal.

It's difficult to draw any real conclusions on Stonehenge, other than to say, "It is a MYSTERY".  We can now say...we have seen it.

Our plans to go see "BATH" have to be postponed for another trek to England, as we simply ran out of time.

On another note, I've always admired the sleek, fast, beautiful Clipper ship "Cutty Sark".

Little did we know that only 1.8 miles away from us at the Clarendon Hotel is the "Cutty Sark Museum".  That's where we're going this morning.

Peter and I will board this historic, amazing ship while Cindy and Ari  will shop in the quaint Village of Blackheath.

RIDING THE "EYE" OVER LONDON...WHAT A VIEW

We arrived at the "Eye" and because of the little blue scooter, had a very short wait for an incredible ride over London.

I must admit, one of the greatest "rides" I've ever experienced &...it took 30 minutes.

From the "Eye" experience, it was a short Uber ride to the famous Madame Tussaud Wax Museum.

There we were greeted by King Charles & the Royal Family...not really.

Now, if you've never experienced a Madame Tussaud Wax Museum, I strongly recommend it.

You never know who you'll run into.

While zig-zagging my little Blue Scooter through the Museum, I had to dodge these guys.

We didn't realize just how large Shrek actually is.

From Madame Tussaud's Museum, we Uber-ed our way back to the lovely Clarenden Hotel in the Village of  Blackheath just in time for "Afternoon Tea".  

Another wonderful "English Experience".

So, what do we have planned for today?

"STORMING" THE CASTLE....NOT REALLY

We departed the "Village" of Black Heath for Windsor Castle via a few busses & an Uber.

We arrived in the late afternoon and managed to see amazing views & a lovely tour inside.  No photography allowed inside.

The expansive grounds and pristine gardens gave us plenty of lovely photos outside.

After our whirlwind Tour of Windsor Castle we sought out place to eat that mainly catered to locals.

We went off the tourist route and found Fullers, Established in 1845.

The meal was awesome and the atmosphere Classic English.

We worked our way back to Blackheath and a good night of sleep.

Today...THE EYE and the Adventure continues.

Cindy found a lovely Hotel (The Clarenden) in a small village (Blackheath) just outside of London.

Classic English Pubs and Old Churches.

Today, we're going to Buckingham Palace.

WE MADE IT TO LONDON!

Well, it was a nail-biter, as we saw the boarding area clear out.  Then, the Jet Blue personnel called  "The Hurston's".  

We breathed a giant sigh of relief and boarded the Jet Blue A321 "flew all night and landed at Gatwick right on time.

After the "all-nighter" we picked up our rental and checked into our hotel a bit early and....lying down to rest a wee bit.
