FROM TRAFFIC SNARL IN HAITI TO "HEAVEN"
It's difficult to even describe what "Haiti Traffic" is like. It's pretty insane....to put it mildly. My good friend and former Director General of OFNAC (the FAA of Haiti) and I had an early dinner scheduled.
I began working my way up to Petionville by mid afternoon and just went from one traffic jam to the next. It was relentless!
In addition to the grid lock traffic, the cell phones were not working and I couldn't even give Leo my ETA. So, I headed for the mountain above Petionville and slowly crawled my way up, toward Leo's home. We could re-arrange a meeting spot "on the run".
Finally, after 20+ tries, we connected. I was half way up the mountain. Leo said..."Just go another 1/2 kilo and turn right to the Observatoire Restaurant.
I gladly complied. Within minutes, I came around a turn and saw the small parking lot on the side of the mountain. I made it!
I stepped on the "balcony" and at 3800 feet, below me spread Port-Au-Prince. The air was cool and it was peaceful and quiet. One would never believe that the view from up here and the reality of what was going on below could be the same (heat, fumes, grid-lock, anger, frustration etc. etc.).
A few minutes later, Leo arrived. His home was only 10 minutes away from the "slice of paradise".
For the next couple of hours, we talked and laughed and discussed opportunities to bring high quality Air Traffic Control throughout the Caribbean. Leo is a GOOD GUY!
Under his administration, Haiti upgraded to the finest ATC system in the world (Harris)...in record time and without one penny of bribes! Praise God for men of integrity!!
The partnership between MAF and OFNAC will strengthen the ties and relationships between the two and keep good, clear ATC communications.
I delayed my departure from the Observatoire Restaurant to allow the horrifying traffic below some time to clear out. Had a delicious cup of Haitian Coffee. Bid farewell to my good friend, Leo and began the journey back to our mission.
Traffic had indeed cleared out and even captured a beautiful sunset on the way. Timing was good!!
Checking the WX this morning, things look good in Haiti and the Caribbean. Going to be a good day. Let's see what our Lord has in store today.
As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

INSIDE HAITI ATC & HAITI AIR AMBULANCE
Had several meetings with the Director General of Civil Aviation yesterday, along with several Engineers. We've been blessed to help Haiti to have greatly improved Air Traffic Control (ATC) Communications equipment.
We're continuing to help Haiti to move forward and our goal is to have the BEST ATC system in the Caribbean!!
After those meetings, I stopped in to see my good friend, Ralph, the Executive Director of Haiti Air Ambulance (HAA).
HAA has been making "life-saving" flights for several years now. We're extremely appreciative to HAA for putting Medor, the isolated mountain community, on their list of "Landing Zones". Already, critically sick and injured have been rescued by HAA all throughout Haiti.
Any time I'm in the area, I stop in to see Ralph. Not only are we friends, we're PRAYER PARTNERS! We both rejoiced that this latest round of Haitian Elections went off relatively smoothly. That was truly an answer to PRAYER!
Today, I'll be in "Joe's Depot" bringing a few more Air Mobile Rescuers back to life.
Will also be meeting with several pilots from M.A.F. (Mission Aviation Fellowship) to get first-hand reports on how the ATC Communications equipment is functioning.
Pilots Reports (PIREPS) are invaluable in keeping the communication equipment functioning at the highest levels. MAF is a great partner in this quest.
The MAF Program Director, Dave Carwell, is a close personal friend of mine for over 20 years. We're also PRAYER PARTNERS and often take time to simply PRAY. This is a vital element to success...and survival in Haiti.
So, that sun has risen this beautiful morning and it's time head to Joe's Depot to get that Rescuer inventory level up to full. As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

IN "JOE'S DEPOT"
I love working with Air Mobile Rescuers and bringing them back to life. As you know, we have 337 Rescuers in operation in Haiti. We have a simple and effective plan to keep those Rescuers working.
Every time I come to Haiti, I spend time "Refreshing" a certain number of Rescuers and keep an inventory of units to replace any units that need attention. The SYSTEM WORKS!
All an Rescuer Operator needs to do is bring in the unit to our facility and we replace it on the spot with a refreshed unit at NO CHARGE!
In that way, we keep CLEAN WATER flowing where it is desperately needed.
Kevin, one of the kids in the "Village", often hangs around and helps me in the process of refreshing Rescuers.
When I began yesterday, we were down to 4 Rescuers. We still had a "buffer" but it was time to build the inventory back up.
After a good 8 hour day in the "Depot", we had that number up to 9 units.
What I truly appreciate about the design of the Rescuer is the ease with which the unit can be refurbished.
Also, this time that I've spent in the "Depot" has given invaluable information about the Rescuer and how we can improve it.
We have hundreds of units that have been in continual operation in Haiti for nearly 12 years. Praise God!!
As Barbara says so beautifully...."We no longer have diarrhea in our Village" and that was 12 years ago!!
Today, have a few more units to bring back to life and then....who knows what our Lord has in store. That's what I love about this truly "Grand Adventure". I'm very appreciative to have you along. Your prayer, love and support is so appreciated and it's saving lives every day! THANK YOU AGAIN!!

IN THE "VILLAGE"
I recall when little Rose Marie first came to Ruuska Village. Actually, she was "dropped" at the gate. She weighed around 6 pounds and could not move any parts of her body. She was pail, frail and just barely alive. This was a "challenge" that Barb has faced hundreds of times.
But even then, Rose Marie's smile would bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart. That smile is absolutely infectious.
Today, after over a year of love and therapy, Rose Marie is a healthy, sweet child. Yes, she does have partial cerebral palsy and still has a way to go but....I saw her standing yesterday and she actually took a step. This is a major move forward!
Barb never flinched from the challenge and continues to rescue children when there seems to be no hope.
That is one of the main reasons that Air Mobile flies regularly to Haiti. This "Village" is a beacon of hope. That is why our cargo of baby formula / food / medicine etc. is so vital to saving lives every single day.
Let me give you another example. The night before I flew to Haiti, Barb called me and told me that "fever" had come to the "Village" and every child had a fever. She asked for chewable & liquid children's Tylenol so that she could help "break" the fevers.
Ariana and I were coming from Orlando, where we had just conducted services at the hospital. I called my good friend, Dom, who is a Walgreens Manager.
I explained the situation to him. He called me right back and told me to come right in, as he'd have a good load of meds for the orphans in Haiti.
The fever has "broken" and Barb now has a new and fresh supply of meds for the next fever. Again, I love how....."Our Lord deploys His troops"!!!
Today, I'll be in Joe's Depot bringing some Air Mobile Rescuers back to life so that we can keep clean water flowing.
I'm pleased to tell you, that with your help and prayer and love, Air Mobile has 337+ Rescuers in the field in Haiti (1000+ worldwide), bringing clean water to the thirsty.
Yes, I love my job. So, the sun has risen and it's time to get on with this day that our Lord has made. As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

SLIPPING OUT AHEAD OF 'PATRICIA'
As, what once was, Hurricane Patricia "poured" her way across the Gulf, bringing a lot more rain, I watched her approach Florida.
If...I was going to Haiti, better do it now, before all that rain and stormy weather arrive.
The Little Donkey was all packed and fueled. Kissed my sweet Cindy goodbye and headed to the airport. Did that final pre-flight, had a word of prayer and took off for Haiti.
Climbed to 17,000 and found a "sweet spot" between the layers. In this shot, I'm just flying over Grand Bahama. The air was smooth and I managed to even find a bit of a tailwind.
Then, that big orange ball peeked over the horizon bringing in the day.
Folks, I live for moments like this. It seems that up here, in a little airplane flying to Haiti, I'm just a little closer to the Lord!!
After the sun rose and illuminated the beautiful Caribbean, I flew next to Crooked Island. The southern Bahamas were hammered by Hurricane Joaquin a few weeks before.
Air Mobile was fortunate and blessed to have been able to lend them a hand with some clean water and food.
They were getting a little rain as I whizzed by them. My prayers are with them as they slowly rebuild their Island.
This is also the area where the 790' Cargo ship went down. My prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones.
The rest of the journey went smooth and the tailwind even increased as I approached Haiti. Again, our Lord made a way for me to return.
Upon landing we unloaded our precious cargo of baby formula / food / medicine and other goodies. We cleared all quickly and efficiently, thanks to our good ground crew and the graciousness of the Haitian officials.
It's good to be back in Haiti. Have plenty of work, between "refreshing" some Air Mobile Rescuers and helping Haiti ATC with communications and above all, just sharing the love of Jesus.
Haiti has been extremely calm and THANK GOD, the Elections went off remarkably well. I'm very proud of Haiti for this significant accomplishment! We continue to PRAY for Peace to Prevail!!
Well, I'm sitting at my "Haiti Desk" and about to have that 2nd cup of coffee and I'm planning the day. Above all, I'm praying asking our Lord for guidance to go exactly where He wants me to go today.
The sun has risen, and it's time for me to head out into this day that our Lord has made. As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

MEXICO SPARED!
Just as rapidly Hurricane Patricia rose to the most powerful storm in recorded history (to make land-fall in the Western Hemisphere), it diminished to a Tropical Storm, bringing winds and rain, but no reported deaths and relatively minor destruction. PRAISE GOD!!
Here's more on this remarkable Hurricane - PATRICIA PUSHES INLAND AFTER BECOMING STRONGEST PACIFIC HURRICANE TO MAKE LANDFALL ON RECORD!
Of course, there is still tremendous danger of mud slides and parts of Texas, including Corpus Christie and Houston, are already under a major "Flash Flood Watch". Patricia is certainly aggravating that situation.
We are tracking these situations and gathering components to make as many Air Mobile Rescuers as our finances will allow. Again, it is amazing that the Coastal regions of Mexico that were in so much danger have been spared!!
Also, I'd like to ask you to PRAY FOR PEACE in Haiti. The long-awaited Elections are being held tomorrow.
So, life goes on. We'll be building Rescuers and preparing for the "next mission". We're keeping a very eye close on the flooding situation in Mexico and Texas.

Yahn, an experienced "Water Mule" (in the middle) has been training Austin (right) on how to build the Rescuer. Again, "Surely, our Lord knows how to deploy His troops!!"
PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYER for the funding to come in so that Air Mobile can rapidly deploy to Mexico once Patricia has passed. This is a very, very bad storm and much destruction and possible deaths will occur.
Was up very early this morning (2:30AM) and brought Mallori (the missionary who had been bitten by the poisonous centipede), down to Fort Lauderdale to catch a flight back to Haiti.
Mallori is completely healed from that bite, thanks to prayer and powerful antibiotics and Dr. Steve. She also wanted to THANK each of you for praying for her!
Today, we'll continue to monitor Hurricane Patricia and gather as many components as we can to get ready to possibly deploy to Mexico to help following this deadly storm.

TEST FLIGHT - GREEN LIGHT
While enroute to the airport yesterday morning, I captured this beautiful rainbow while passing a green light. Just thought I'd share it with you.
Upon arrival at the airport and after the successful run-up this beautiful T-33 (1950's Vintage Trainer) taxied for take-off.
Then, moments later the 60+ year old classic roared down the runway. I love our airport. One never knows what will take off next.
Paul and I then had a successful test flight. The fuel flow instrumentation was performing perfectly.
All looked good, but...I had the feeling that I needed to do one more test flight and it just so happened that we also needed to have an instrument "lighting" issue dealt with.
Our Avionics shop, Orlando Aircraft Services, (been with them since 1982!) is located in Orlando. While making the 15 minute flight, I switched my autopilot from GPS to Heading and the little switch came apart in my hand.
While there, Troy, the Chief Avionics Technician, did an update on our Garmin 500 (Navigation System). That led us to the need to do another critical update. So...again, that "gut feeling" to make that additional test flight really paid off.
Heading to the airport this morning to continue preparing for our 'next mission'. Been in touch with Barbara, in the "Village" and all is quiet in her immediate area, but there are numerous "hot-spots" that are erupting all over Haiti in advance of the elections this weekend.
Again, we PRAY for our Lord's guidance. As always, THANK YOU for standing so faithfully with us with your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

TIME FOR ANOTHER TEST FLIGHT
Our "suspect" Fuel Transducer has been replaced with a new one. This morning, we'll do a run-up and hopefully a test flight in the Little Donkey.
If successful, we'll certainly pray about just when to go to Haiti. Things, as they usually do before an election in Haiti, are really heating up. That is why we pray for wisdom and guidance as to know "when" to go. Please join together with us in Prayer for His divine guidance! THANKS!
In the midst of the turmoil and violence, some Haitians are making a small business out of the campaign. Here's a good example - HAITI'S SMALL SCALE ELECTION ECONOMY IN FULL SWING
Mallori, the missionary who was bitten by a poisonous centipede, is recovering beautifully. She has enjoyed her rest here.
She and Cindy have been doing a lot of canning and making candles in advance of our next fund-raiser (Hunger is Not A Game!), to bring food and water to the thirsty and hungry in India. See link below in PS for more details.

SEARCHING FOR FUEL FLOW....INDICATION
Well, the rear engine on the Little Donkey is running just fine. But....the fuel flow indicator is not working properly.
After, extensive search, we've concluded that the "fuel transducer" has gone out. A new one has been ordered and should be here today.
The Little Donkey will soon be ready for service. Again, so THANKFUL for a good mechanic, Paul, and a fine little aircraft to carry us to "hard to reach" places!! Also, please PRAY that our Lord clearly directs us for the "next mission"!
Meanwhile, things are "heating up" in Haiti. Elections will be this weekend and violence is escalating. Seems this happens during every election cycle in Haiti. A number of people were killed in the huge slum, Cite' Soleil (pronounced City Solay).
This area is about 30 minutes from our mission base camp. Please pray that this violence simply subside. With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Here's more on what's happening in Haiti - WITNESSES: PRE-ELECTION VIOLENCE FLARING UP IN HAITI SLUM

WHEN ONE LIES...
Do you get frustrated when you listen to.... say a "Politician", tell a bold-faced lie? Well, I certainly do. It seems that many "just get away with murder" when it comes to "telling the truth".
But...I received some consolation this morning while reading Proverbs 19. 2 times, this wonderful fountain of wisdom, calls out liars and tells what happens to them.
In verse 5, it says: "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will not escape".
Then again, in verse 9, it says: "A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies shall perish".
Now, folks, we've all been guilty of telling lies and the best thing for us to do is repent (quickly) and run to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. Jesus paid the price for every sin.
So, the next time you hear a politician tell a lie (or what you might perceive as a lie), PRAY for them...that they repent or else, judgement will fall on them, according to the Word of God. That knowledge helps to keep my "frustration-level" down.
THANK YOU, Lord for enlightening us this morning through the Book of Proverbs, a "Manual for Living".
Just thought I'd share that with you. Hope it helps us all as we trudge through this "Election Season" in the U.S.
BTW, I try to read at least one Proverb every day (and yes, I do miss some days). The easiest way to remember to do that is to tie the day of the month to that particular Proverb. Today, being the 19th, I read Proverbs 19 and it just so happened, that was just what I needed to hear.
This morning, will be at the airport working with Paul to figure out why the Fuel Flow gauge went to Zero on the "well-timed" training flight on Saturday. Read on down to yesterday's blog to see what happened.
We had plenty of fuel flow (as the engine performed properly), but can't fly without the instrument telling just exactly how much fuel is flowing to the engine. Please pray that we find the "culprit" quickly.
So, it's time to head out the door into this day that our Lord has made. As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

A ROUTINE TRAINING FLIGHT
Was at the airport yesterday, sorting and preparing for our "next mission". Then, a friend, Darrell, who is also an FAA Designated Examiner (D.E.), came by and I thought......mmmm, why not shoot a couple of Instrument approaches. Darrell is an excellent instructor.
We did our pre-flight, taxied, cleared for take-off and at 300 feet, the fuel flow on the rear engine went down to "Zero". The engine was still producing full power, but the instrument read "Zero". Came in for a landing with no problem.
Again, so glad that the instrument malfunctioned on this quick little training flight and not on a long haul over the ocean. Looks like the problem is with a fuel flow sensor. Will order one on Monday.
All I can do is THANK the Lord for giving me that "gut feeling" & "strange desire" to shoot a couple of approaches with the FAA "D.E.".
The idea also came to me that...perhaps it's not quite time to return to Haiti. There is a lot of turmoil there and I'm certainly willing to go, but....could our Lord be delaying the "mission" a bit?
Could be. At any rate, it's good to seek the Lord and endeavor to be in the "right place at the right time".
So, it's Sunday morning in America. We're getting ready to go to our home church, Redeemer and then to the Hospital to give the patients 3 services. Love the freedom to be able to go and share the Good News of Jesus!
Oh, yes, and last night was at our favorite hang out, "Dogs-R-Us" watching a classic football match-up between LSU and Florida. What a game!
Peter was at a Christian Retreat, and I was surrounded Florida Fans, but.....LSU prevailed in the end and remains undefeated. Yes, it was a good evening!

THAT WAS EASY....
No, this is not a commercial for Staples. But it is a testimony about how good we have it here in the U.S.
Yesterday, I was in my little office in the hangar at the airport. Have a printer there that hasn't been used in a while. Needed to print some critical documents.
The little ink jet printer simply "dried up". I tried to "clean the print-heads again and again. Even moistened them and tried every trick in the book to get that little printer to work. No luck.
Then....a message from Staples flashed on my phone..."You have $40.00 Rewards". Mmmm, perfect timing. It was off to Staples and I came back with a brand new, wireless printer for under $50.00!
You know, folks, we really do have it good here in the U.S.. It's easy to take it for granted. As you very well know, we travel to the disasters of the world.
We often go into places where the infrastructure has been wiped out and "it's not so EASY" to do the most basic thing.
Another thing is "Timing". Right along those lines, I came across this tid-bit of good advice and I wanted to share it with you. The thing that stood out to me is the #1 Item "Build your supply gradually".
Be on the lookout for really good deals and especially B.O.G.O. (Buy One - Get One). You can then take that "Free One" and put it aside. See, "That was easy...and cheap!" Here's the article - 5 WAYS TO PREPARE FOR A NATURAL OR "MAN-MADE" DISASTER
I am ever reminded of those 10 Virgins. 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. The wise ones simply "went & got the extra oil" when it was relatively easy....not at midnight when everything was closed. Mmmmm, good advice.
BTW, Mallori, the missionary that was bitten by a poisonous "critter" is doing much better. The antibiotics are working great. She and Cindy are making pancakes this morning.
And....Mallori's husband just sent this over. Looks like this was the actual centipede that bit Mallori.
So, it's time to head to the airport and "print" those critical documents. Glad to have the new printer. As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

Early reports from Haiti, are that the 4 year old that was kidnapped in the brutal murder of Roberta Edwards, is dead. But....this has not been confirmed. The murderers are still at large and eye-witnesses are in danger.

Yesterday was a beautiful example of a "strategic deployment" and "perfect timing" by our Lord. Mallori, the missionary in Haiti, who had been bitten by a poisonous insect arrived in Miami on American Airlines.
I already had an appointment "scheduled" in West Palm Beach delivering 2 more Air Mobile Rescuers for the Bahamas.
After that appointment, I arrived at the Miami International Airport within minutes of Mallori stepping onto the curb.
Dr. Steve Badolato was standing by in Melbourne, FL. I snapped a shot of Mallori's infected hand and arm and Dr. Steve analyzed it. We then took Mallori's Blood Pressure, to be sure that she could make the 3 hour drive up to Melbourne.
Mallori had no fever. The decision was made to drive to Melbourne and not go to the E.R. in Miami. Praise God for good decisions and good medical support!
We drove straight to Dr. Steve's home where he examined the bite area and the red streaks going up Mallori's arm.
He knew just what to do and what antibiotics to give Mallori. We caught the infection in time and she should recover beautifully. That certainly is our prayer!!
Again, I'm overwhelmed at how our Lord "Orchestrates" our lives! Yesterday was just such a perfect example of...."Surely, God knows how to deploy His troops!!"
Mallori will be recovering at our home for the next few days. Please PRAY that the antibiotics effectively fight that ugly infection. Also, PLEASE PRAY for that young kidnapped boy. We hope and pray that that report of his death is not true.
So, it's time to head out and gather more supplies and get that "Little Donkey" ready for the "next mission". As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR MISSIONARY IN HAITI!! & 4 YEAR OLD KIDNAPPED BOY STILL MISSING - PLEASE PRAY!
This morning, I awakened to an e-mail plea from a missionary in Haiti who works very closely with Barbara. Her name is Mallori. Her family has adopted many children from Barb. Late last night, Mallori was bitten by some " bug-like creature" and her arm is swelling.
She went to a clinic several hours ago and was given Benadryl, but the swelling is continuing and she is in pain. She will be boarding a flight this afternoon for Miami.
It "just so happens" that I'll be down in West Palm Beach (less than an hour from Miami Intl.) this afternoon and will be able to pick her up and bring her up here to Cocoa. We have many good doctor friends who can help Mallori.
PLEASE PRAY that the "poison" be neutralized and that we're able to help Mallori gets the medical care that she needs!
Just moments ago, I spoke with Mallori's father, Jim, and he informed me that she is going to try to fly all the way back to Minnesota to get treatment there. However, I will be on stand-by to drive her up to Cocoa to meet with doctors here, if she needs medical care immediately. Again, PLEASE PRAY for Mallori!
Late last night, Barb and I dropped more supplies at the airport. We're preparing for our "next mission", but the date for departure has not been set, nor will we publish the travel date for security reasons.
Then I brought Barb to Orlando International for her to continue her "Stand-By" journey.
This morning, Cindy and I will be speaking to a group that we know quite well, the "OWLS" (Older Wiser Loving Saints). We love this group and it will be "timely" to have them join together with us to pray for Mallori!
Also, PLEASE PRAY for the 4 year old boy who was kidnapped during the murder of Missionary Roberta Edwards.
The young boy is still missing. Again, PLEASE PRAY for this little one's safety! We need a miracle here!! Here's the latest on the murder and kidnapping - AMERICAN MISSIONARY KILLED / CHILD KIDNAPPED IN HAITI
BTW, the reason that I'll be down in West Palm Beach this afternoon is to deliver another Air Mobile Rescuer water purifier to "Pathfinder Task Force", a relief group that is working in the Bahamas following the devastating Hurricane Joaquin.
So thankful to be able to help those who are helping others. The Bahamians need clean water!!
It's also another example of...."How our Lord deploys His troops!!"
So, it's time to go speak to the "OWLS" and then head down to West Palm Beach and possibly to Miami to get Mallori to the doctor. As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital and greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!!

MORE ON MISSIONARY SHOT & KILLED IN HAITI / GATHERING FROM GENEROUS SOULS
This is a heart-breaking story. Long-time missionary, Roberta Edwards was shot and killed while sitting in her car in Croix-des-Bouquet, Haiti. To add to this terrible act, a 4 year old boy, who was with Roberta, has been kidnapped and still missing!
PLEASE PRAY that the murderers are apprehended and the child is found safe!!
BTW, Croix-des-Bouquet is about 10 minutes from Barb's mission. We know that area well. Several years ago, we were "ambushed" by 12-14 heavily armed gunmen and there was an attempted kidnapping, but by God's grace, we escaped. This is a dangerous area!
Yesterday, we were extremely blessed by generous folks who brought wonderful supplies of baby food / formula and other much needed items. The shelves in Barb's food depot are empty and the timing of these gifts is awesome!
We began the day by meeting Gary. He drove nearly 80 miles to deliver a "full stack" of infant baby formula. Gary also gathers up used tennis balls and brings them for the children to play with.
Barb is designing a very cool toy that will "squirt" these tennis balls in random directions. The kids will love it. BTW, my name for Gary is "Tennis Ball Gary". So glad that he's expanded his gathering to include baby food and formula. THANK YOU GARY!
While Gary was still with us, Dennis, a "Veteran Water Mule" showed up. He brought some beautiful little dresses made by another generous soul, Karen.
Dennis has traveled the world with Air Mobile and helped us to bring clean water to the dying and thirsty. We love Dennis!!
Barb and I then visited Alternative Pregnancy Center (APC) where the Director Vickie, showered us with more blessings!! God bless you, Vickie and APC!!
Folks, I'll tell you, I'm overwhelmed by the love and care and generosity of so many. I must say it...."Surely, God knows how to deploy His troops and resources!!"
Received an encouraging call yesterday from "Pathfinders Task Force". I met this group on Exuma Island when we flew to the Bahamas to bring relief.
This is a great organization and is working very closely with the Bahamian Government to bring relief to the most isolated and devastated islands. Well, they want another Air Mobile Rescuer. We'll be delivering the Rescuer to West Palm Beach this morning. Praise God!!
Time to "hit the road" and deliver an Air Mobile Rescuer. Cindy and Barbara will still be "gathering" life-saving supplies. And, please remember to PRAY that that little 4 year old is found!
As always, THANK YOU for your precious and faithful and vital prayer, love and support!!

A LOT OF CHURCH & A MIDNIGHT CALL & BREAKING NEWS - MISSIONARY SHOT AND KILLED IN HAITI
I went to the new church that is now meeting in our Air Mobile Headquarters building. We are just thrilled to have this church in our building!
That's Pastor Lenny in the photo. He's a great brother!!
Then, we all met and headed to the hospital in Orlando (UBC) and conducted 3 separate services. Wow, that's a lot of church services on one Sunday!
As I reflect on the day, it dawns on me that we still have amazing "Freedom of Religion" here in the U.S.. For that, I'm THANKFUL!!
On the way home from this very busy day of ministry, I got so tired, had to pull over and ask Cindy to drive home. I snoozed the rest of the way.
Got home and just chilled for the afternoon. Was about ready to head up to bed when the phone rang. It was a "Walker Alert". That's our code for Barbara's (Rambo in the Blue Dress) arrival notification.
Barb's daughter works for U.S. Airways and Barb travels on "Buddy Passes". That means that you never quite know when she will arrive, because she flies on "Stand-by". She made every connection and would land in Orlando at Midnight. We'll have Barb with us for a few days. We're looking forward to that.
Her "baby food / formula" pantry in Haiti is empty and it's time to replenish. We'll be visiting some of the gracious donors the next few days and getting a plane-load ready for the Little Donkey.
BREAKING NEWS - Oh, this news just in. An American Missionary, Roberta Edwards was shot and killed in Haiti Saturday night. What a terrible tragedy. Here's the story - MISSIONARY & CHILDREN'S HOME DIRECTOR, ROBERTA EDWARDS, DIES IN SHOOTING IN HAITI
Haiti, as we very well know, can be quite dangerous.
We're so saddened for this tragic murder of this precious sister, who has given her life in helping others. Please pray for her family and the ministry that she left behind!
Also, please pray that the murderers are apprehended and brought to justice!!
So, it's time to get on with this day and go find some baby food / formula and other vital supplies for Haiti.
As always, THANK YOU for your vital and greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

FINDING THE "LITTLE SMOKING GUN"
On our most recent flights, we ran out of Oxygen pretty quickly. Knew there was a problem. Without Oxygen, we can't fly high, so....immediately upon return, Paul went on the search for the cause of the leak.
I know that I say this often, but it bears repeating: THANK GOD FOR A GOOD MECHANIC! We truly appreciate Paul who keeps our Little Donkey flying safely!!
It didn't take Paul long to find the "Smoking Gun". Up in the ceiling and behind a piece of duct work was the O2 line and a tiny hole, causing the O2 to escape.
While Paul and I were working on the Little Donkey, our neighbor, Marvin walked up and asked us to see his latest acquisition.
Marvin has been painstakingly rebuilding a WW2 Recon aircraft, the Stinson L-5. Here's a stock photo of what the finished product is going to look like.
The first thing I noted was the famous WW2 cartoon...."Kilroy was here".
And this was on the windshield of a classic and mostly original 1942 Jeep. Marvin will use the Jeep when he demonstrates the pretty L-5.
Marvin's very proud, and rightfully so, to have found this little treasure. We went for a ride around the airport and it was just like being on a page of the History Channel.
Of course, Paul had to come over and "inspect" the engine. He noted a few subtle changes that were upgrades from the original.
Oh, I love our airport and neighbors. There is such a strong "Camaraderie" among aviators. We particularly love the rich history of aviation and how far we've come.
Well, it was back to work on the Little Donkey and getting that sweet little bird ready for our next mission.
Went straight from the airport to meet Peter at our favorite Saturday hang-out, "Dogs-R-Us" and enjoyed a great evening of football.
And yes, our LSU Tigers were victorious (45-24) over the South Carolina Gamecocks. A very nice way to end the day.
Just minutes ago, Cindy shared a new video that was made by our India friend, Sam.
We are so excited about getting back to India and bringing food and water to the hungry and thirsty. Here's Sam's latest video -HUNGER IS NOT A GAME
It's time to head to church. We'll be at our home church, Redeemer and then to the hospital where our team will conduct 3 separate services. Praise God for the freedom to preach the Good News of Jesus!!
You are such a vital part of our outreach. We so appreciate your prayer, love and support!!

GETTING FOOD & WATER TO LONG ISLAND THEN DODGING MORE STORMS - HOMEWARD!
The day began with meeting some dear friends at the Peace & Plenty. Deatra, the lady in this shot, hosted me and a plane-load of orphans from Haiti one stormy night just after the Haiti earthquake. It was so good seeing Deatra again!
Then it was off to the airport to train a principal Air Mobile Rescuer Operator, Eddie Fischer and his team. Our Lord surely brought us together!
We then presented the Air Mobile Rescuer to Pastor Eddie Fischer who would place this unit exactly where it would need to go! We're so THANKFUL to our Lord for bringing us Eddie!!
After the training, we transferred the food (2000 meals!) that was graciously provided by "Deliver the Difference".
Eddie would be loading both the food and and Air Mobile Rescuer on a boat and heading to the southern end of Long Island, the hardest hit of the Bahamas.
Again, we thanked Eddie for being available to help us to get these life saving supplies where they were most needed. We prayed together for safe journey's for us all!!
I snapped this shot of the Satellite image, just before departure. Knowing how quickly things can change in the Caribbean, actually, the Bermuda Triangle, we knew that we'd better get in the air begin heading home quickly.
By the time we approached Fort Pierce, we could see towering build-ups and that time was of the essence.
Then, right before our eyes, a storm blew up just like a bomb. We had just minutes to get in and again, our Lord made a way. We slipped in on the side of that big red blob of weather. Praise God for His guidance!!
As soon as I got home, I saw my lovely Cindy in an Indian Sahri. She was on her way to a wonderful event being presented by our Christian School.
I, then brought Peter and Ariana out for a delicious dinner at Beef O'Brady's. Was able to share the adventure of "Dancing With Storms" and how our Lord made a way again.
And how we were able, with a lot help & prayer from our friends, to bring clean water and food to the thirsty and hungry. What a day!!
So, this morning, will be heading back to the airport to meet with Paul to do a "Post-Flight" inspection and find out why my Oxygen supply drained so quickly.
It's a never ending battle, but again, our Lord will help us to get the Little Donkey ready for...."The Next Mission"!
As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

THE "LITTLE DONKEY" DELIVERS WATER & FOOD
The weather in the Bahamas looked spotty. Doug, my co-pilot, is a seasoned pilot. We looked at the weather determined that we could work "around" the weather and make it to Exuma Island in the Bahamas. That would be our staging point.
BTW, Doug Rodante has traveled the world with Air Mobile from the Indonesian Tsunami to Haiti and many places in between. Glad to have Doug with me!
We had a word of prayer and fired up the engines on the Little Donkey and took off for the Bahamas.
We climbed to 15,500' and flew VFR due to the extraordinary amount of maneuvering we'd need to do to get around some of those big build-ups. Miami Center was very helpful and soon, we were in relatively clear skies.
BTW, the Little Donkey flew just great. Those fresh mags and new wiring harness gave the faithful little airplane a bit more power.
We landed at Exuma International and was fueled by the son of Junior Strahan (pronounced Strawn). Junior had been fueling our aircraft before his son was born. Good to be with family in the Islands.
We were then directed to the Command Center to discuss the situation on the most affected Islands. Our plan had been to first fly to Crooked Island and deliver food, generator and a Rescuer. The Relief Command Center agreed that this was a good plan.
Our point of contact would be Elton McKinney. He lived in a village several miles away, accessible only by boat. We hoped to find him so that, we could not only deliver the supplies, but could train him on the Air Mobile Rescuer.
We made the 45 minute flight from Exuma to Crooked, dodging some growing storms. Upon landing, the destruction was evident. This little Island took 130+MPH winds for 24 hours! There was not a single structure that was not either severely damaged or completely destroyed.
We unloaded or precious supplies and put them into a hangar that offered just a bit of protection from the rain. We searched for Elton, the recipient of the gifts from some generous folks.
The load of supplies that had been gathered by many caring people would be a great blessing to these folks!!
While waiting, I munched down a PBJ (Peanut butter & jelly) sandwich that my Cindy made for us as we departed for our flight. The jam was some that Cindy made. Mmmmm.
I found an American, Steve, who would be willing to be trained on the Rescuer and would arrange to train Elton when he arrived.
As I was training Steve, Elton walked up! Yeah, the training would now be direct. He was a great student and EXTREMELY thankful for the supplies. He'll be able to help a lot of folks who are cut off and have lost everything.
What a joy to present the Air Mobile Rescuer to Elton. Here's another example of...."God knows how to deploy His troops"! Elton showed up at the perfect time.
We then departed for Exuma International. We flew over Long Island, another Island that was hammered. Our plan is to deliver more food and Air Mobile Resucers.
As we flew over the runway, named "Deadman's Cay", we could see that water was still touching the runway, but slowly draining off.
That's where we'll be going today, weather permitting. Had a great sleep last night in the Peace & Plenty Hotel.
Oh, this place has been a refuge for me over these last 37 years of flying in the Caribbean. Have had to "dash" into Exuma a number of times to dodge storms have stayed at this lovely Hotel.
When Doug and I showed up yesterday afternoon, after a hard day of flying, we were presented with the keys to a lovely room and...there was NO CHARGE! Praise God! These folks were just so thankful that we (along with you) had cared and come to bring help in their time of need.
Well, the sun has just risen, had my second cup of coffee and about to go eat breakfast and then back to airport to launch our next mission to Long Island, Deadman's Cay airport. Pray that the "standing water" will have drained a bit more. We have food and Rescuers for them.
Please PRAY that all goes well, with both the weather and that the folks that we need to meet are at the airport. As always, THANK YOU for your faithful and invaluable prayer, love and support!!

"TEST FLIGHT": SUCCESSFUL!!
We didn't conduct one "Flight Test"...we conducted 2 and the Little Donkey flew like a dream. As a matter of fact, changing the wiring harness and magnetos made the rear engine run smoother than ever. Praise God!!
We're THANKFUL for a generous community who have been responding with food, generator, charger and a wide range of hygiene.
We've added 2000 meals (thanks to "Deliver the Difference") and 4 Air Mobile Rescuers to the load. This is going to be a great blessing to those who have been "wiped out" by Hurricane Joaquin. Thank you, Chuck and Team!!
Up early looking at the weather and see that there is some "activity" working, but easily 'circum-navicable'.
We're looking at the possibility of making a flight this morning to one of the harder hit Bahama Islands. PLEASE PRAY for a clear path!
We're getting many reports from the Islands and look forward to visiting some of the most hard hit ones.
Heading to the airport and seeing just what this weather is doing. We hope to get to the "Islands" soon. THANKS AGAIN for your prayer, love and support!!

GETTING THE LITTLE DONKEY READY & PRAYERS FROM AFAR - 2:30AM PRAYER MEETING
Yesterday, Paul, our aircraft mechanic installed the fresh magnetos on the Little Donkey. We should be ready for another "Run-up" & "Test Flight" today. We're so THANKFUL to have found that issue with the magnetos yesterday.
Read on down to yesterday's Blog for more details and a very good lesson on Romans 8:28!
Meanwhile, we've found out more information about what is needed how we can help in the Bahamas. Our first Island will likely be Crooked Island. Please note, the El Faro, the missing cargo ship was close to Crooked Island during it's last communication.
We plan to bring in food, Air Mobile Rescuers, a small generator and other vital supplies. We're eager to go, but must wait for that successful "Test Flight". Please PRAY that all goes well!!
Speaking of PRAYER, early this morning, at 2:30AM, I joined a Bible Study in New Zealand via Skype! What a blessing to be able to speak (and see) with Believers half way around the world.
My good friend, Brian, a fellow aviator had arranged for me to speak with his Bible Study Group. I love the technology!!
What a great group of Believers! I'm looking foward to possibly getting over to New Zealand one day and meeting them personally!!
It was very encouraging to get PRAYER FROM AFAR!!
So, it's time to head to the airport to work with Paul to get that Little Donkey up in the air. As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

A ROUTINE "RUN-UP"....
After doing any work on an aircraft, we always do a "run-up" on the ground, usually followed by a "test-flight".
We called for the fuel truck in preparation for the "test flight", after, what we hoped would be, a successful "run-up". So far, so good.
Paul, our mechanic, had recently changed the "spark-plug wiring harness" on the rear engine, as well as an oil change on both engines, thus our "run-up". When I fired up the rear engine, I instantly noted that the tachometer (tach) was not operating.
Paul, quickly identified the problem. A small wire coming out of the magneto (mag) had broken during the wiring harness installation.
To repair the wire, it was required to pull the mag. When Paul opened up the mag, to replace the broken wire, he found a lot of oil on the inside of the mag.
Now, here's the remarkable thing about all of this. The mag, at this point, was performing just fine. One does not usually "open up" a mag without reason. If it's working, don't mess with it.
Praise God for the broken lead, as eventually, that oil would have caused that mag to fail.
We figured if the seal had failed on one mag, it would likely fail on the other mag. Paul, immediately began "tracking" a set of replacement mags. I, meanwhile, went to my good friend and fellow pilot, Marvin whose hangar is just behind our hangar.
Marvin is closely connected with Air Scan, an organization that has the largest fleet of C-337's (the same type as the Little Donkey) in the world.
They're located just across the field from us. They just happened to have a set of freshly Over-Hauled Mags, and they sold them to us for a GREAT PRICE!
Now, 2 lessons stand out on this amazing day. First of all, Romans 8:28 tells us that...."All things work together for the good..."
Again, I'm so thankful for that "broken wire" that caused us to find that oil leak "inside" of the mag!
We were about to launch a flight that would take us well over 1000 miles of ocean. Glad to find the "problem" before it became a big problem!
Next lesson, one of my favorite sayings that so aptly applies here, "God knows how to deploy His troops and SUPPLIES"!
Today, we'll be installing those fresh mags and then, doing another "Run-Up" and "Test Flight".
OK, let me tell you this last thing. When the tach didn't work, I thought, "Uh-oh, what's next". Then when Paul showed me the oil "inside" the mag, I thought, "Ouch, this is going to take a lot of time and cost a lot of money". Besides, we're "ready" to go to the Bahamas!
Then...as our Lord worked it all out, I sensed His Hand on me and felt His great love and care. God loves us and promises to...."never forsake us or leave us!"
So, as you go into this day...that our Lord has made, and perhaps your "schedule" gets "re-arranged", look to Him and put your trust in Him, and know that He is working all things for your good!
As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

1000 YEAR FLOOD IN SOUTH CAROLINA & IT'S NOT OVER YET! THE EL FARO MYSTERY CONTINUES!
Unprecedented, historic flooding (1000 year!) in South Carolina and the rains will continue today! Here's more - UNPRECEDENTED & HISTORICAL DELUGE
BTW, right after I drove through South Carolina on Saturday, some of the Interstates that I took were temporarily closed. Thankful to have gotten through when I did! THANK YOU for your prayers!!
Hurricane Joaquin, is well out to sea no longer posing a threat.
And the rains, which have been caused by a separate weather system will continue in South Carolina through today.
Just take a look at the rainfall that South Carolina has received in the last 4 days!!
Meanwhile, the mystery of the El Faro, the 790' missing cargo ship goes on. Debris, related to the ill fated ship is being found. We continue to PRAY for a MIRACLE!
Here's a communication received from a crew member to her Mom - DAUGHTER'S LAST MESSAGE FROM EL FARO: THERE'S A HURRICANE OUT HERE AND WE'RE HEADING STRAIGHT INTO IT!
Yesterday, I met with my good friend, Bob Bostic of "Deliver the Difference" and he donated 3000 meals to the Bahamas!
Many of the Bahama out-islands were just hammered for 24 hours by 130+MPH winds. We hope to get out there soon. We've also put 4 Air Mobile Rescuers together to bring in clean water.
These Islands are very remote and difficult to reach except by small aircraft. Please PRAY as we plan to to fly into some of the hardest hit Islands and bring in much needed relief!
This morning, our mechanic, Paul and I will be doing a test flight in the Little Donkey following routine maintenance.

PRESSING THROUGH HISTORIC RAINS / FLOODING BACK TO FLORIDA - & SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING CARGO SHIP
South Carolina is experiencing the worst flooding in 200 years! Yesterday, I drove through the middle of it to get back to Florida. Thank God for a safe journey!!
Here's are a couple of little enroute clips of what it was like.
After hours of driving through the wind and rain, I took a break at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA. Spent about an hour there (just to settle my nerves a bit). There's a magnificent B-17 on display.
Then, it was back on the road and the weather got better as I drove south. While on the road, was doing as much research as possible to get information on the Islands hardest hit by Joaquin.
Also getting as much info as possible on the lost cargo ship, El Faro. PLEASE PRAY that the crew is found!
BTW, I did see several vehicles that lost control due to hydro-planing and a large tree fell right on I-95. Here's the clip -
Made it back to Florida...just in time for the kick-off of LSU (just worked out that way). Met my Cindy, Ariana and Peter at our favorite hang-out, Dogs-R-Us. Have really missed them!!
Nice way to unwind after the journey through the storm. BTW, LSU won.
Now, Hurricane Joaquin has taken that northeasterly turn away from the East Coast. However, the rain bands will bring a lot more rain into an area that is already experiencing historic flooding.
In this overall Satellite Image of the Caribbean, we can see that the last remnants of Hurricane Joaquin are finally moving out of the Bahamas.
Have been on the phone this morning with folks on Cat Island in the Bahamas. That island was hit, but has fared fairly well.
Was checking on fuel there at this could be an excellent staging point into the other Islands.
Today, after Church, will take the Little Donkey up for a test flight and then we'll top her off and begin loading food. Meanwhile, our Water Mule Team, headed by Yahn will be preparing some Air Mobile Rescuers.
There is a good possibility, weather permitting, that Air Mobile could launch tomorrow for exploratory flights as well as keeping an eye out for that lost cargo ship. Oh, we PRAY that the crew will be rescued!!
As always, THANK YOU for your precious pray, love and support!!

ON THE ROAD TO FLORIDA - WARNING: FLASH FLOOD ALERT! 735' CARGO SHIP MISSING...SEARCH CONTINUES!
Knowing that Hurricane Joaquin was ravaging the Bahamas, it was time to leave the cabin and return to Florida.
The news coming in indicated that Hurricane Joaquin had "Parked" over the Bahamas and lashed them for 24 hours with 125+MPH winds. Many of those Islands are just barely above sea level!!
The Plan: Wait for Joaquin to pass and then fly on the back-side and see what has happened to the hardest hit islands.
It has been raining steadily in Tennessee for the last 4 days. Flooding has already begun.
I drove on the rain / wind whipped road until late last night and ended the trek for the day in Orangburge, SC. All along the road were Warnings: FLASH FLOOD ALERT - USE CAUTION!
This morning, I'll be on the road again driving straight into the funnel of rain that Joaquin is giving the East Coast.
Though the "Eye" of the Storm will pass off the East coast, the ensuing rains have already begun causing major, HISTORIC flooding. Remember, this area had already been experiencing unprecedented rains for days and now....here comes Joaquin!
Hurricane Joaquin is still a Catagory 3 with winds 125+mph. As it has made that turn to the north, 65 MILLION residents from South Carolina to Maine are in danger of extreme flooding! Here's more - LIFE-THREATENING, POTENTIALLY HISTORIC FLASH FLOODING IN SOUTH CAROLINA, NORTH CAROLINA, WEST OF JOAQUIN
Little or no news is coming out of the Bahamas. That may be good... or bad. At any rate, we don't know, and that is what we intend to find out when we make those "exploratory flights".
Just want you know where I'm at this morning. Orangeburg, SC is between Columbia and Charleston, SC. This is the "heart" of the major flooding area.
It's time for me to get on the road and head south to Florida and get ready to fly to the Bahamas. The next few hours will be treacherous as rain is falling, in places along my route, at 1" per hour! PLEASE PRAY!!
Also, PLEASE PRAY that the 735' Cargo ship, El Faro with 33 crew members be found. Communications suddenly ended and the ship is feared lost in Hurricane Joaquin!
We hope to be able to help with the search!! Here's more - CARGO SHIP GOES MISSING IN HURRICANE JOAQUIN!
As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable and greatly APPRECIATED prayer, love and support!!!

JOAQUIN MAKING NORTHERLY TURN - BAHAMAS DEALING WITH FEROCIOUS WINDS / RAIN / STORM SURGE
Joaquin, now a dangerous Catagory 4 Hurricane will be continuing to deal a tremendous blow to the Bahamas.
Note, the wind speed is still increasing. This is a very, very dangerous storm!
It appears as if the deadly storm is finally making that turn to the north and the projected path will take it away from a U.S. landfall however....
Historic flooding is likely with 12+" of rain forecasts for the parts of the Carolinas and Virginia. Here's more - HURRICANE JOAQUIN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, STILL BATTERING BAHAMAS; U.S. LANDFALL UNLIKELY - HOWEVER, MAJOR FLOODING EXPECTED
The strongest winds (130+MPH) are lashing the eastern Bahamas. Those islands are sparsely populated. No information has come out of those Islands at this hour.
Many of the Bahama Islands are just above sea level. The storm surge could completely inundate some islands. We PRAY for those residents!!
That's all the more reason we're following this storm so closely. I personally know how "fragile" the drinking water situation is when there are no storms. We're moving ahead by gathering food and Air Mobile Rescuers for their relief.
As soon as Joaquin passes to the north and the path is clear, Air Mobile hopes to launch a mission to assess the damages and the needs and bring in vital help where needed!
Spent yesterday getting ready and wrapping up things here at the cabin. Hope to be on the road back to Florida around noon today.
Have spoken with Paul, our mechanic, and the Little Donkey is all ready for a Test Flight following routine maintenance and inspections.
Also, Bob Bostic of "Deliver the Difference" already has 2000+ meals ready. Praise God for "rapidly mobilizing friends"!
I ask you to pray for me to have a safe journey back to Florida. It has been raining for 4 straight days here in Tennessee and all along the East Coast. The roads will be a bit treacherous with a lot of standing water and possible "flash flooding".
So, it's time to do the final load and make that thermos of coffee for the road. As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

BRACE YOURSELF!! HERE COMES HURRICANE JOAQUIN!
The Bahamas are getting BATTERED. We have friends on many of those islands. PLEASE PRAY for them!!
Joaquin is coming into even warmer waters fueling this monster! Here's the latest - MAJOR HURRICANE JOAQUIN BATTERS THE BAHAMAS; U.S. AWAITS LANDFALL
We're getting Ti Burik (The Little Donkey) ready for our "Next Mission" (Likely to be the Bahamas). Already have a call into Paul, our excellent mechanic, to get the little bird ready.
We're also "mobilizing" Water Mules to get Air Mobile Rescuers built and ready for "action".
Have also got a call into our good friend, Bob Bostic of "Deliver the Difference". Have requested a couple of thousand meals to add to the Air Mobile Rescuers that will provide clean water.
You may recall that several weeks ago, Bob "mobilized" very rapidly for Dominica and met us at the airport at 3:30am just prior to our departure.
Again, where would we be without so many who respond to the call? Surely, our Lord knows how to deploy His troops!!!
Now, we don't have a single penny toward this "Next Mission". Please PRAY about helping us to help these folks in the Bahamas!!
Definitely time to wrap up this "Retreat to the Cabin". I knew it was just a matter of time before the "battle cry" would be sounded. Today, I'll be "winterizing" the cabin and packing things away. Hope to be on the road to Florida in the morning.
As I always say, and mean from the very depth of my heart, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!
