NAVIGATING....

All I can say this morning is....things are coming together for our "Next Mission".  We're navigating and preparing.

I'm eager to get my other eye done (cataract surgery) and then...will be able to launch. Surgery scheduled for next Thursday, May 23rd.  

Can't give any more details at this time, but...can tell you, critical pieces are coming together.

As I say every single day and truly mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU!  I appreciate your faithful prayer, love and support!!

COUNTING THE DAYS....

After my successful  Cataract eye surgery on my right eye last Thursday, I can hardly wait to get the left eye done.  

It is scheduled for surgery next week.  It is so good to have crystal clear vision.

Today, I'm resuming my Physical Therapy (PT).  Making excellent progress on "Range of Motion".  God is so GOOD!!

I want you to know how much I appreciate your precious prayer, love and support!!

RIDING THE "RESCUES".....

Cindy and I spent a lovely "Mother's Day" together.  We had a delicious meal at Aubrey's in  Morristown after Church.

Then, back to our sweet little farm to ride our "Rescue" horses.  Here's Cindy on Phoenix, a beautiful Tennessee Walker.  

Hard to imagine such a majestic horse bound for the Mexico Dog Food plant... and we had the privilege to rescue this beauty.

Here's Cindy on Ti Gato (Little Cup Cake in Creole).  This Arabian was, likewise "Rescued".

I rode Ti Gato, my first ride since knee surgery.  Ti Gato is a sweetheart, gentle and wise.

This time, with our horses, brought my Cindy so much joy on this "Mother's Day".

Today, it's back to work on our little farm.  BTW, we're getting a nice Air Mobile Rescuer water purifier order from Operation Blessing ready for delivery.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! &....A TIME TO HEAL

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!  Where would we be....without our Mothers!

My Cindy is a wonderful mother and a magnificent Proverbs 31 "Lady of God"!!

PRAISE GOD for the gift of our Mothers!!

Looking back over this last year, I am so THANKFUL for excellent medical care and successful surgeries and wonderful HEALING!

  

THANK YOU JESUS!!

Have had both knees replaced (doing very well).  Just had cataract surgery on my right eye and eagerly awaiting, getting my left eye done.

BTW, following all of my surgeries, Cindy, who is also a very skilled RN, has lovingly cared for me during the recoveries.

My Cindy has had both shoulders done and she's doing very well.

We have had amazing surgeons and loving and caring and skilled medical personnel.

We are flat-out BLESSED & THANKFUL for the HEALING & the LOVE that we are experiencing.  

We are getting ready for the days ahead and for our Lord giving us the ability to walk and see and being free from so much pain.

So, dear Lord, here we are...send us!!  In the meantime, we're just enjoying our little farm with all of our critters...horses, donkeys, ducks, cats and dogs.  WE ARE BLESSED!!

In addition to these BLESSINGS, my Cindy has been faithfully putting in a wonderful garden.  Again, the BLESSINGS of our sweet SAVIOR!

On this beautiful Sunday morning, we're getting ready for Church. Little Mulberry Baptist Church is a wonderful and very sweet Church!  Life is good!!

6 LITTLE ADDITIONS....

Yesterday, we got our newest little ducklings.  They're settling into their new home here at the Hurston Farm.

It's a cool morning here and they're staying close to the heat lamp.

Life is good here at the Hurston Farm.

SMOOTH AS SILK....

Yesterday, Cindy and I dodged a couple of storms and arrived at Hamblen Hospital in Morristown right on time.

I was quickly prepared for surgery, rolled into the operating room and in 10 minutes the surgery was finished.  It was pretty much PAINLESS and  EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL.

Today, I'm looking through a right 20/20 eye.  PRAISE GOD!!

Now, in about 2 weeks, I'll have the left eye done.  It's hard to grasp how smooth and easy it is. 

PRAISE GOD for gifted Surgeons (Dr. Holt) and an excellent hospital and staff!

Folks, I'm SO THANKFUL for such excellent medical care!!  

I'm ever reminded of those who have little or no medical care and for those who are thirsty and for those facing extreme danger due to WAR!

I'm again THANKFUL for our Lord helping me to get in better shape to serve Him more effectively.  

Wow, new knees and a 20/20 eye ball and soon, will have the left one done.  LORD, You are so good!!!

Finally, I want you to know just how much I appreciate you and your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

DURING MY ROUTINE FLIGHT PHYSICAL....

In advance of meeting my Flight Surgeon, I had an Eye Test.  It was then discovered that I had cataracts and surgery was suggested...even though I could still pass the physical.

So...I scheduled surgery to do one eye and in a few weeks the other eye.  Today is the day.

We're having a major storm and the possibility of flash floods.  PLEASE PRAY that we get to the hospital and that the surgery goes extremely well.

CALM BEFORE THE STORM.....

Keeping a close eye on the Caribbean as we approach Hurricane Season.  Now is the time to begin building up our inventory of "Rescuer" water purifiers.

We've been in touch with Operation Blessing (OB) and will be sending them critical replacement components.  It is such a pleasure working with the folks at OB!

Even now, as I type, there are a dangerous series of storms crossing the Tennessee Valley and heading to our little town of Sneedville (blue dot).

I'm reminded of the 10 Virgins in Matthew 25.  5 were wise and 5 were foolish.  

The wise Virgins PREPARED and had extra oil to meet the Bridegroom.  

May we be guided and directed and PREPARED for the storms ahead. 

So, today, we're busy preparing for the days (and even HOURS) ahead.  May we be sensitive to the Holy Ghost for the days ahead.

REVIVAL IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS

We were encouraged & strengthened when we heard the News of REVIVAL breaking out as thousands of University of Tennessee (UT) Students gathered in Knoxville for "UNITE US"!

Over 5800 joined in this great "Move of God"!

I love to see the Hand of God moving so powerfully  among these young people!!

OVER 120 UT STUDENTS GET WATER BAPTIZED AFTER GATHERING TO LIFT THE NAME OF JESUS AT FOOD CITY CENTER

BTW - My good friends at WBIR did a wonderful job of capturing the Revival.

While RIOTS AND PROTESTS & HATRED are happening in Universities  across America, it is so encouraging to see this REVIVAL!!

We PRAY for AMERICA TO WAKE UP & "SMELL THE REVIVAL"!!

Let us JOIN TOGETHER IN PRAYER for this REVIVAL TO SPEAD ACROSS AMERICA AND AROUND THE WORLD!

A DUCK TALE....

Our duck population is about to double.  Our Pastor's wife is a school teacher.  

She incubates baby ducks as a good school lesson and we benefit from the little hatchlings.  

It's time to pick them up this morning.

This morning I prepared the warm cozy little duck home for our new residents.

Cindy is at Tractor Supply buying new little feeders & baby duck crumbles.

Ahh, life at our little farm is sweet. And all of this happening on this Sunday morning before Church.

The "Protesters", many of whom are NOT Students are being pushed back by Law Enforcers.  PRAISE GOD!

One thing is for sure, the "cover" is being pulled back and the pure EVIL is being exposed.  It is ASTOUNDING how many Professors and University staff are participating in these riots.

May the light shine on those who are shouting "KILL THE JEWS & DEATH TO AMERICA!"

We PRAY for our LORD'S WILL BE DONE!!

CRAZY TIMES...

In scanning the news this morning, it is disheartening to see what is happening on college campuses all across America.

The intent and demand from the protesters is for complete Jewish divestment with the Universities. Oh yes, and they are demanding, openly  DEATH TO THE JEWS!.    

That's NOT going to happen (in my humble opinion).  Frankly,  I find it hard to believe that such FLAGRANT VIOLENCE & ANTI-SEMITISM is playing out before our very eyes.

Where is all of this going?  I don't know but...I know Who does and I'm holding tightly onto His Hand!

Time to get on with this day and I PRAY for HIS WILL TO BE DONE ON THIS EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!!

All I can say right now is, our Lord is truly opening DOORS for us!

It's a bit early to give details, but suffice it to say...we're moving in the right direction!

Back to Matthew 7:7, may I encourage you to both memorize as well as use this AMAZING SCRIPTURE in your every day life.

I'll tie one other awesome acronym to share with you today.  It is:

ALWAY - SAY - A- PRAYER!

SEETHING ANGER....

What is coming out in U.S. University's nation-wide is quite ALARMING.  

In all my years, have not seen such flagrant ANTI-SEMITISM as what is unfolding before our eyes at Columbia University.

Here's more - COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY RABBI: JEWISH STUDENTS SHOULD LEAVE!

I can't help but believe that this outbreak of pure hatred is only held by a small minority.

But...as I see the flames rapidly spreading to other prominent U.S. Universities (YALE, HARVARD, MIT, BERKLEY etc, etc,)  perhaps, this belief is larger than I thought.

At any rate, I PRAY for our Lord to have His way in my life and lead and guide each step of the way!!

So, today we PREPARE for the days ahead.  Again, Jesus tells us that these days will come.  May we be OBEDIENT and sensitive  to HIS CALL!

The simple things in life are so precious.  It's just good to be home.

GETTING READY....FOR WHAT LIES AHEAD

On this  Saturday morning we're taking advantage of the time between missions. It's good to prepare for what lies ahead.

Of course, it's always good to seek HIS DIRECTION.  Jesus tells us that certain things must occur before HE RETURNS.  Just scanning the news, we find that Israel is front and center.

The recent  missile attacks between Israel and Iran certainly brings our attention to this volatile exchange.  We'll continue to monitor these "breaking" developments.  

I'm amazed at the level of hatred toward the Jewish people that is breaking out on our campuses.  

This hatred is certainly accelerating and increasing in intensity.  Again, we PRAY!

In the mean time we move forward, seeking HIS DIRECTION.

WHERE would our Lord want us to go and WHEN would He want us to GO?  We stand ready!

Here's a quick update on my recent surgery.  PT (Physical Therapy) is going very well and soon I'll be able to fly.

For now, we're taking care of our little farm and PRAYING & SEEKING His direction.

After the 16+ hour drive from MA to TN, we pulled up to our Sweet Cabin.

A very long road trip home.

So good to be home!  PLEASE PRAY for our family as we grieve for the loss of Cindy's dear sister, Sue.

ALMOST HOME

Cindy and I departed Worcester MA yesterday morning for the long ride back to our sweet home.

We found a nice comfortable bed in Staunton, VA yesterday evening.

I know that I've said this many times, but it bears repeating.  I am so THANKFUL for excellent roads and overall safe places to rest.  May we never take HIS BLESSINGS for granted.

HEADING HOME

We  attended the Funeral for Cindy's little sister, Sue, yesterday.  Many friends were there.  

It was good to see those whose lives have been touched by Sue.

This morning, we're on the road back to our sweet "Retreat Cabin".

Cindy is driving the first leg of our long Journey home.

Here's a snapshot of  route.

We'll likely stop somewhere.  We'll get as far as we can before we stop.

REST IN PEACE SUE

Yesterday morning, I boarded an Allegiant flight from Knoxville to Boston.

Upon landing, I was picked up by a lovely lady (my Cindy) and brought to a classic Worcester Bistro for an incredible breakfast. 

The purpose of our journey to MA is for the funeral of Cindy's little sister Sue. 

We will surely miss Sue.

Please PRAY for our family as we grieve for this loss.

Up early to catch a flight from Knoxville to Boston to meet my Cindy.

WAR DRUMS ARE BEATING!

We are monitoring the rapidly developing tensions with Iran threating a major retaliation.

What we may be seeing is a significant acceleration.  Not only should we PRAY, we should PREPARE for very turbulent waters ahead!

 A BIT LATE....

Usually, long before now, my rambling daily Blog would be posted. So here's what happened...

I got up this morning and began to write the Blog when...the phone rang and then the horses & donkeys were hollering for their food and the ducks needed to be let out.  

And then, I dashed to the Sneedville Hospital and had my PT (Physical Therapy) for the day.

When I finally got back to the Cabin and I checked my email I found that I had begun the blog but didn't finish it.

So...that's the series of events that led up to this late Blog.  It's better late....than never.

Between feeding the critters and heading to my PT, had an in depth  conversation with some of my contacts in Haiti. 

The situation there is absolutely horrifying.  WE PRAY!!!  

I can tell you this, with the direction from our Lord  we will go there when He clears us to go. Of course, we will not publish our travel itinerary for deep security reasons.

I know that many are suffering from the lack of clean water and are cut-off from getting it.  We will help as we can.

ON THE BRINK OF....EXPANDED WAR WITH IRAN

Looks like we are teetering on the edge with Iran threatening Israel with a "massive attack"

According to the "experts", this attack could occur any minute.  We are standing by and at the same time PRAYING.

I recall in the Scripture, the Disciples asked our Lord Jesus  to..."teach us how to pray".  

Well, Jesus did and at the beginning of the instruction He said..."Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven...".

So, like never before, shall we PRAY...FOR GOD'S WILL TO! BE DONE!!

As we PRAY, may we open our hearts & ears to hear HIS voice to us.  May HE guide us and lead us through these turbulent water.  

Remember, Jesus told us that these days would come.  Just read Matthew 24, as Jesus describes to us, in great detail what these days would look like.

On a practical and extremely important note, let me ask..."Are you prepared for hard times?"  The answer is.."most likely not".

I'm further reminded of the Words of our Lord Jesus as He gave the Parable of the 10 Virgins in Matthew 25.  

5 were wise and 5 were foolish.  The foolish ones put off or postponed replenishing the oil for their lamps.

In simpler terms for us...we should PREPARE NOW...while the stores are open and supplies are plentiful (mainly food & water).  

Take a look at your pantry and fridge and other vital things you may need i.e. medicine, batteries, etc. etc.

Of course, in any PREPARATION, we must include a provision for CLEAN DRINKING WATER!

MORE LONG ROAD TRIPS....

This morning, Cindy will be driving from TN to MA to prepare for her sister, Sue's funeral 

It is a 15 hour road trip.  PLEASE remember Cindy in your prayers.

Meanwhile, I'll be here at the "Retreat Cabin" (have several doctor's appointments) here until Sunday.  Then I will fly into MA to conduct the funeral on Monday morning.

BACK TO WORK.....

Our "Mission" to bring CLEAN WATER to a THIRSTY WORLD continues.

After all the hu-bub about the Solar Eclipse is finished and thankfully nothing "Bad" happened, it's time to get back to work.

BTW, we thought the 2024 Solar Eclipse was quite spectacular!!

We made some excellent contacts at the "Farm Where You Live" Festival last weekend. Now we're following up on those contacts.

We're scanning the news and continuing to build Air Mobile Rescuers getting them ready, and in-position to DEPLOY to our "Next Mission".....wherever that may be.

I'm very pleased and THANKFUL to you for your prayers during this time of intense Physical Therapy (PT) following my recent knee-replacement surgery.

So, on this lovely Tuesday, time "get back to work".

TODAY...IT GETS DARK THEN...IT GETS

LIGHT AGAIN - HAVE A HAPPY & SAFE ECLIPSE VIEWING

We've been waiting a long time for this day.  Where Cindy and I are in East TN, we'll catch a partial viewing of this astronomical phenomenon.

Apparently, eye protection is vital.  The sun-rays during the eclipse can burn a whole in your retina and you won't feel it.  So...don't look at the sun or have proper  protection.

There are many other opinions about what can and may happen during the 4-8-24 eclipse.  I don't know enough about the subject to write about it.

So, we'll just stay close to Jesus and enjoy the show.

A WONDERFUL DAY AT A LOVELY FARM.....

Yesterday, Cindy and Yahn, along with his family spent an absolutely lovely day on the Mills River Farm in Asheville, NC.

The event was "Farm Where You Live".  Many of the attendees were either farmers, homesteaders and or those that want to be.

We heard prominent speakers, including Joel Salatin, a very famous guy in these circles.  

Joel has written many books on farming and surviving in difficult times.

It was a pleasure meeting Joel and spending a few minutes with him. He was very impressed with the "Rescuer" water purifier.

For years, Yahn has been urging me to meet Joel and yesterday was our day to do so.

It is always a huge BLESSING to have my Cindy with me on such events.

BTW, all that Physical Therapy (PT) I've been doing is certainly paying off.  I was able to walk and talk to many attendees.  

PRAISE GOD for that total knee-replacement surgery!!

After this great event, we headed back to our beloved "Retreat Cabin".

Now, it's time to head to church.  Sure love our sweet church, Little Mulberry Baptist Church.

NOW EARTHQUAKES!!

New York City was struck by a series of earthquakes yesterday measuring 4.8 & 4.0.

It's been 140 years since the region has had a significant quake.  Fortunately, no serious damage or injury.  We THANK GOD for that.

Earthquakes certainly have the ability to get ones attention.  It's a good time to turn our eyes on to Jesus.

Meanwhile, Cindy and I, along with Yahn Gray and his family arrived in North Carolina to attend the "Farm Where You Live" Festival.

We love demonstrating the amazing "Rescuer".

What a remarkable tool to have during disasters...such as earthquakes.

So, it's time to set up and meet with some nice folks and a lot of farmers or those want to be.

WORLD ON BRINK!  SAD FAREWELL

The News today is quite alarming.  Major WAR could break out any moment.  WE PRAY!

The 7 World Central Kitchen (WCK) Humanitarian workers who were tragically bombed and killed breaks our hearts.

Though our hearts are broken, we continue to march forward on the Mission of saving lives as Jesus would have us to do.

On another sad note, Cindy's little sister, Sue died yesterday.  We are sad at this terrible loss.  Please PRAY for Cindy during this tragic and painful time.

Meanwhile, Cindy and I are heading to North Carolina  to the "Farm Where You Live" Festival beginning today.

PT & TEARS....

Here's a story that aired last night on WBIR CHANNEL 10 KNOXVILLE - 

"IT'S LIKE A BIG FAMILY" / HUMANITARIAN WORKER FROM EAST TN MOURNS DEATH OF 7 AIR WORKERS KILLED IN GAZA BOMBING

Our hearts are broken after the tragic mistake of killing 7 World Central Kitchen (WCK) humanitarian workers in Gaza.

I can't begin to tell you how much this hurts.  We've had the privilege to work with these and other incredibly brave workers in some of the most dangerous spots around the globe.

PLEASE PRAY for the families of the 7 killed World Central Kitchen (WCK) workers, and for WCK as they deal with this catastrophic loss!

Well, it's time to head to the hospital for my scheduled PT (Physical Therapy) following my knee-replacement surgery.

UP & ABOUT....

Due to some good PT (Physical Therapy), along with a lot of prayer support,  I'm beginning to range out from our sweet "Retreat Cabin".  

Yesterday, Cindy and I attended Easter Service at our home church, Little Mulberry Baptist Church.  It was good to get out and though still a bit weak, I'm regaining my strength.

Later this week (April 5-6), Cindy and I plan to attend the "Farm Where You Live" festival in Ashville, NC.  

We'll be demonstrating the "Air Mobile Rescuer" water purifier.  We look forward to meeting folks in this "Homesteading" Community.
