THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES....FEBRUARY 2016

1-30-16 Tuesday 7:27 AM (U.S. Eastern Time) - Pooler, GA - "On the Road" - Report submitted by:  Air Mobile Joe

CHEAP GAS...FREE OIL & A LOAD OF LIFE JACKETS

Sometimes, in life, things just "come your way".  Yesterday was such a day.  Bought gas at $1.439 per gallon.  Now, that's CHEAP.

Had an Escape full of free aviation oil (pretty expensive stuff). When I went to share some of that free oil with my good friend and Brother in Christ, Dave Walen....he gave me a huge box full of "Life Jackets".  Yes, the Lord is GOOD!

We agreed to meet on I-95 in Dunn, NC.  Had a pleasant lunch.  Caught up on all that our Lord is doing in our lives and made the "great exchange"...free oil for free life jackets.

Dave, earlier, won a bid for a whole bunch of aviation life jackets and wanted to share the blessing.  Now, when I get back to Florida, I'll be able to offer "free" life jackets to all of my aviation buddies.

Afterwards, I "hit the road" and made it to Pooler, GA.  Just so happens that the "Mighty 8th Air Force Museum" is located here.  Mmmmm, after the blog, I'm heading over there to take in a bit of WWII Aviation History.

I should make it home by mid-afternoon.  This journey.... to sell an engine, meet with my Harris Agent, get some free oil, have a great "catch up" lunch and swap free oil for free life jackets is nearing the end.

Will have traveled over 3000 miles, going from Florida to the Canada Border (North Hero, Vermont) and back to Florida.  Our Lord has given GREAT TRAVELING MERCY!

There's something about a long "road trip" to sort out one's thoughts and spend some quality time with the Lord.

So, it's time to go get that "Free Breakfast" and spend a little time in the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum and ponder the great sacrifice that so many made for our freedom.

I've missed my Cindy and it's time to get home.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

GOT OIL....

Yesterday morning, I pulled into the McDonald's parking lot off I-87 in  New York.

Minutes later, Colleen, Barbara's daughter, pulled up next to me with a load (20 cases!!) of AeroShell Aviation Oil for the Little Donkey!

We quickly transferred the "Liquid Gold" to my little Escape.  This gift will keep Ti Burik in fresh oil for nearly a year!

THANK YOU Colleen & Tom for finding this wonderful donation!!

After that "valuable" stop, the little wheels on the Escape just kept rolling (for another 10 hours) until Ruther Glen, Virginia on I-95. Pulled into a Comfort Inn and got a good night's sleep.

Today, I'll be meeting with my great friend and brother and "counselor", Dave Walen.  Dave is super pilot / mechanic and....he's a lawyer.

He has carefully and methodically restored an old Beechcraft Twin Bonanza (AKA:  "T-Bone).  I'll share a little of that "oil gift" with Dave.

He has offered to fly Air Mobile "Missions" with that beautiful, grand, old airplane.  That's a serious offer and one that we will likely take him up on....multiple times!

Well, there's another 780 miles to this journey.  I'll likely roll into Cocoa, FL late this evening.  I'm very THANKFUL for the "Traveling Mercy" that our Lord has graciously provided!

As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

A "FERRY TALE"

Once the aircraft engine was delivered to Colonel Chase, it was time for this "Southern Boy" to head home....where things are a bit warmer.  Somehow, I understand why there are "Snow Birds"!

I drove the little Escape onto the Cumberland, a Ferry that crosses from North Hero Island to New York.

We crossed Lake Champlain.  There was some ice on the lake.  The Ferry's run regularly and it was a smooth ride to the "mainland".

My next stop was to see Nate, my Harris Associate.  We've worked very closely together to bring high quality, state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control communications to Haiti.

Well, Nate has a "Hobby" that is just amazing.  He's built a model train "world" that just takes your breath away.  I call it..."Nate's World"!

Here's some of the "Overview" of this incredible work of art that Nate has created.

Nate let me "drive" a couple of his favorite trains.  Here's a short video clip of one such excursion.

Then, there was the house on "fire" and the "Rescue".  I love this place!!

Here's another clip of the "overview" of Nate's World.

After our time in Nate's World, we headed out for a grand tour of beautiful Lake George.  This 32 mile long lake is so rich and full of history.

There are a number of lake boats like the Minnie Ha Ha that give beautiful tours of this lovely place.

After our tour and the excursion into Nate's World, we had dinner at the famous Sagamore Hotel.  What a nice way to end the day!!

This morning, I'll be continuing my long journey home and stop in Melrose, NY and meet Barbara's (AKA "Rambo in the Blue Dress) daughter, Colleen.

She and her husband Tom have arranged for Air Mobile to receive 20 cases of Aero Shell Aircraft motor oil.  THANK YOU, Colleen and Tom!!

Time to pack up and head south.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

2-27-16 Saturday 5:55 AM (U.S. Eastern Time) - North Hero, Vermont - Home of Colonel Michael Chase - Report submitted by:  Air Mobile Joe

"DELIVERED"!

After 1400+ miles, dodging tornadoes and heavy rain and ice and snow, the little gold Escape pulled into the driveway of Colonel Michael Chase's home in North Hero, Vermont.

Our Lord afforded great protection and an abundance of "traveling mercy" on this mission.

BTW, Michael is an F-14 / F-16 Pilot and has served our country with great honor.

It's no accident that he and his wife, Jaimie live on Hero Island.  This Island was deeded to the Soldiers of the Revolutionary War as a gift of appreciation from a thankful nation.

After arrival, we quickly unloaded the engine (Lycoming IO-540).  Jaimie and Russel helped to get the engine into position in front of the RV-10 that they are building.

We marveled at how our Lord brought the pieces together for this transaction.  We believe that this engine will serve the Chase Family very well for many years to come!

This is what the "finished product" will look like.  Michael and his family have worked on this aircraft for many years and they're almost ready to "hang the wings" on the beautiful fuselage.

So, it's time for me to pack up and hit the road for the 1400 mile road trip back to Florida.  Later today, I'll be picking up 20 cases of AeroShell Aircraft oil from Barbara's daughter Colleen.  Colleen has arranged for this great donation.

Then, will swing by Lake George, NY and have dinner with my great friend and associate Nate, from Harris.  Love to see friends "along the way".

It's 11 degrees with a wind-chill of 4 degrees here on North Hero Island.  A little chilly for this "Southern Boy".  Time to head south!  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

2-26-16 Friday 5:21 AM (U.S. Eastern Time) - Syracuse, NY - I-81 "On the Road" - Report submitted by:  Air Mobile Joe

A SOUTHERN BOY IN A SNOW STORM

When I hit that first patch of ice, my heart raced like crazy.  Had been watching the temperature dropping from the 30's to the 20's and the rain was falling hard.  It was just a matter of time before it turned to ice.

I put on the flashers, slowed to a crawl and prayed for a hotel.  BTW, I was on the phone (hands-free) with Gary (my Pastor) when I felt that little fish tail.

We prayed for safety and a hotel.  I had already been driving 13 hours and it was definitely time to"call it a day"!

At the next exit, in Tully, NY (just outside of Syracuse) there it was...that Best Western never looked so good and...they had a room.

The young man at the counter, Ray, was pleasant.  He was from India.  We spoke about the Lord, and the work that Air Mobile is doing in India bringing in clean water and food to the thirsty and hungry.  It was a good conversation!

This morning, it's a chilly 17 degrees and "Snow Showers" are expected through the day.  I'm about 270 miles from my final destination, North Hero, Vermont.

Time to fill the coffee thermos,  bundle up, and hit the road (slowly) and deliver an aircraft engine to Colonel Chase.

So glad that we secured that engine in the Escape with 6 cargo straps to keep it well in-place should there be any excessive maneuvering on the snow and ice.

As always, THANK YOU for your faithful and greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

STORM DODGER - "ON THE ROAD TO VERMONT"

As you probably know, I'm "On the Road" to Vermont to deliver an aircraft engine.

Colonel Michael Chase is building an airplane (an RV-10) and saw that Air Mobile had an engine for sale.  We made a deal, and now, I'm delivering it to him in Vermont.

A deadly line of storms spawned numerous tornadoes and I was fortunate to "weave" my way between them.  Even stopped at a Sonny's BBQ for a late lunch and just let one such storm blow right over my route.

There has been a number of deaths and WIDE-SPREAD damage from these deadly storms.  Here's more - TORNADO OUTBREAK KILLS AT LEAST 7

This is a long journey, 1400+ miles.  Drove until...I just ran out of steam last night and got a room in Lumberton, NC.

Up early, having a cup of coffee made in the little hotel coffee pot in the room.  Will be back on the road soon.

PLEASE pray for those who have been devastated by these terrible storms.

Looks like the worst of the weather has blown over and will, hopefully, have smooth sailing the rest of the way into Vermont.

As always, THANK YOU for your greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

HAVE ENGINE...WILL TRAVEL...WILL DODGE STORMS

Yesterday, Yahn & I, along with Doug (who took this shot) loaded an aircraft engine into our Ford Escape and, hopefully, today I'll be driving it all the way up to Vermont.  Yes, "Have Engine - Will Travel"!

Here's a closer look at the engine and how snugly it fits in the Escape.

Now, the challenge is getting that engine 1400 miles north to Vermont.  There's a wicked line of storms with multiple tornadoes along the route.

Already, the death toll is rising after those powerful storms and tornadoes tore through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.  Here's more - SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK: 3 DEAD AS MULTIPLE TORNADOES STRIKE THE SOUTH

Please PRAY for those in the path of these terrible storms!!

In the meantime, I'll watch & wait & pray until the path is clear before striking out for Vermont.  As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

AN "UNEVENTFUL" TEST FLIGHT

Those are the kind of test flights I like.  The front engine, on my friend's (Chris) aircraft had recently been opened up and inspected after a "prop strike".

The procedure, after such work, is to take the aircraft up for a thorough, 2 hour test flight.

The engine ran beautifully as we made a continual 10 mile circuit just off the east coast of Florida between Melbourne and Patrick Air Force Base.

Upon landing at Melbourne, Paul, the great mechanic that Chris and I share, did a thorough post flight inspection and buttoned up the aircraft.  Mission Accomplished!

This evening, our sweet Cindy is coming home from Massachusetts!  Yea!  We've really missed her!  She was able to spend wonderful time with her Mom and our Juliet!

Today, if all goes well, we'll be loading up an aircraft engine in our Ford Escape and driving it all the way up to Vermont, departing tomorrow!

However.....we're keeping a very close eye on the weather, as severe thunderstorms are expected in the South and snow and ice are expected in the Northeast.

Mmmmm, may delay my departure a bit.  Here's more - SEVERE WEATHER TO IMPACT SOUTH / MID ATLANTIC

As we prepare for this day, we seek our Lord's wisdom and direction.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

THE RICH AND THE POOR HAVE THIS IN COMMON.....

Most of the battles around the world center between...The"Haves & the Have Nots".

Even the elections in the U.S. are drawn along the battle lines of the "Rich & the Poor".  I was reading in Proverbs 22 today (today being the 22nd) and came across this simple and wonderful verse:

"The rich and poor have this in common, the Lord is the maker of them all"(Proverbs 22:2)

I pray that the Candidates who are running (all around the world) and the leaders that are in place, remember that God is their Creator.

They will stand before Him one day and give account of their lives!  There, that is my "Political Commentary" for the day!

Yesterday was an AWESOME day of ministry.  After attending our home Church, Redeemer, our Air Mobile Team headed to the Hospital in Orlando.  As you may know, we conduct 3 separate services each Sunday.

The folks in the Psychiatric Hospital are there because they've had deep problems in their lives.  Our Services are 100% Voluntary.  Each Service, is well attended by the Adolescents, the Acute Care Patients and the Adults.

I can't even begin to tell you what a joy it is to do this.  We deliver theGood News of Jesus and have the privilege to PRAY for numerous patients each and every Sunday.
We've been doing this for 18+ years and will continue to do so as long as our Lord gives us strength and the Open Door!

If you live in Brevard County, or the Orlando Area and would like to become an Air Mobile Team Member, we'd love to speak with you!!  This is such a sweet opportunity to minister and share the love of God.

Simply phone me at:  321-544-7757 or e-mail me at:  airmobilejoe@gmail.com and we'll discuss how you can help.  You'll be glad you did!!

Today, I'll be conducting a Test-Flight / Engine Break-in for a dear friend of mine.  Please pray that the flight goes well and the engine performs extremely well!  Time to head out into this beautiful day.

As I say every day and mean with all my heart, THANK YOU for your  precious prayer, love and support!!

LOVELY DINNER WITH DEAR FRIENDS

Tom and Lydia Snyder have been our friends for many years.  Tom is retired Air Force and has not retired from "Serving the Lord"!  Lydia has been Executive Assistant to the President of the "Jesus Film Project" for many years.

BTW, Air Mobile has had the wonderful privilege to show the "Jesus Film" close to 400 times in 20+ countries.  It is such a wonderful tool for telling the Glorious Story of Jesus!

We gladly accepted the "Dinner Offer" (we miss our Cindy's cooking) at the Longhorn. The food was absolutely delicious.

Ari and Lydia just had a blast together.

It's so good just catching up with dear friends.  We just spent a lovely evening with these wonderful folks.

Today, we're up getting ready for Church and then to the Hospital in Orlando where we'll be sharing the Good News of Jesus with both Adults and Adolescents.  It's such a privilege and blessing to be able to share our faith with those in need.

As always, THANK YOU for your vital and truly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

A MESSAGE FROM LOUISIANA

As some of you may know, I'm a "Certified Cajun" from Louisiana....born and raised in Baton Rouge!

During college football season, you'll usually find Peter and I, on Saturday night, at "Dogs-R-Us" watching our beloved LSU Tigers fight for the National Championship (our day will come!).

Well, this video popped up the other day and I'm just now getting around to it. After viewing it, I just had to share it with you.

It's time to stand up to the "street violence" that has devastated so many communities!!  I appreciate our law enforcement officers who are heavily engaged in this noble battle to take back our streets!

Here's the video -HEAVILY ARMED LOUISIANA POLICE CAPTAIN TAUNTS LOCAL GANG IN VIDEO CHALLENGE

NOTE:  Be sure to watch the video to the end!

Today, the U.S. Primaries carry on in full-swing with voters in South Carolina and Nevada voicing their support for which Candidate will eventually represent their party.

There is definitely a "Mood Swing" in America.  The political battles taking place certainly demonstrate that.  Here's more - SOUTH CAROLINA & NEVADA VOTES TO TEST "ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT" MOOD

Well, it's time to get on with the day that our Lord has made.  We, in the Hurston household, sure do miss our Cindy.  We know that she's having a good time with her family in Massachusetts.  She'll be home soon!

As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

HAD TO SHARE THIS STORY!!  & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CINDY!! & A "MOVING" EXPERIENCE

Came across this story and just had to share it with you.  This is not the first timethings like this have happened.

I'm reminded of how our Lord brought the Gospel to Cornelius and his family through Peter in Acts 10.

Surely, Jesus is "moving" in Syrian Refugee Camps and.... all over the world!!

Air Mobile has had the awesome privilege to go into some of the hardest to reach areas of the earth to share clean water and the "Living Water" of Jesus!  Praise God!!

Today, is my Cindy's Birthday.  She had planned to spend this day up in Massachusetts with her Mom.

We miss her, but we're so glad that she can have this quality time with her family and especially her mother.  Happy Birthday, Honey!!

Yesterday, had the blessing to help our eldest son, Steve, move.

We were able to "squeeze" almost all of the excess stuff into a storage unit.  Moving is rarely easy or fun, but it's nice to spend the time with family.

We'll be doing a bit of work on the Little Donkey today.  One of the vacuum pumps went out on the last flight into Haiti.  So glad to have 2 Vacuum pumps on-board.  Also very appreciative to have a good mechanic in Paul.

Time to head to the airport and get the Little Donkey ready for....the next mission.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

GOOD MEETINGS  - INTERESTING POLITICS

Began yesterday with a meeting with our Local Congressman, Bill Posey.  It was a joy to share with him the recent success that we have had in putting in all new Air Traffic Control Communications (ATC) into Haiti.

Harris, the company that has provided all of the equipment and support for this much needed installation is in Congressman Posey's District.

I must admit,  it is a nice thing to see "Revenue"flowing  from Haiti to the U.S.  We are encouraged and hopeful that there will be more improvements to the Haiti ATC System!!

Polls are funny.  They can tell all sorts of things and....sometimes they're even right.  It's not an "exact" science, but quite interesting none the less.

Since jumping into the 2016 race, Donald Trump has maintained a solid lead.  But today, one poll, has Ted Cruz leading "The Donald" with Rubio coming in 3rd place.  Here's that poll - SURPRISE: DONALD TRUMP FALL BEHIND TED CRUZ IN NATIONAL

However, in other polls, Donald is still leading by a wide margin.  Mmmm, could things be shifting?  We'll soon find out.  Here's another poll taken yesterday - TRUMP LEADS REPUBLICAN FIELD BY MORE THAN 20 POINTS!   As I said, we're into some pretty interesting politics in America.

Our prayer is that our Lord will put the leader into place that HE wants there!  So, it's time to get out into this day.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

A "MILD" WEATHER DAY IN AMERICA

After experiencing, what could well be, the coldestValentine Day on record, mild and pleasant "spring-like" weather will prevail all across America.  AHHHH!

Nice to get a "break" from thebitter cold and sometimes violent weather.  That is not a BAD thing!

Here's more on this "Incoming Spring" - RECORD WARMTH. SPRING FEVER HEADED TO THE PLAINS; MIDWEST, NORTHEAST, SOUTH WARM-UP THROUGH THE WEEKEND

So often, we complain about the "bad" weather.  It's nice to report on (and give THANKS) for pleasant weather for a change!

OK, I'll admit that I keep a very close on the the weather...it's a "Pilot Thing".

And yes, a lot can be said about "Climate Change" because...."Climate does change"!  It's been doing that for a long time....enough said!

Well, my Cindy had a pleasant flight up to see her Mom in Massachusetts and...the weather is quite pleasant there today.

Meanwhile, I've been working diligently on gathering as many bits and pieces and various components to build up our Air Mobile Rescuer inventory....just in case that "Old Man Weather" raises his ugly head and does something bad!

This morning, I'll be meeting with our local Congressman to give a report on Haiti and how we've been able to help Haiti improve it's Air Traffic Control (ATC).  We're so THANKFUL that our Lord has opened that door in Haiti.  Air Safety has truly elevated with the help of our Lord!!

So, on this beautiful morning, it's time to head out into this day...that our Lord has made.  God bless and THANK YOU for your invaluable and truly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

"BON VOYAGE" CINDY ON A STORMY MORNING

Cindy has been planning to go up and see her Mom in Massachusetts for some time.

This morning, as we were getting ready to go to the airport, a Tornado Warning came over our Emergency Weather Radio.  Severe WX, with possible tornadoes, was coming our way.  Our location was the black arrow and red #4.

The problem was that these storms were between our home and the Orlando International Airport.  We watched and waited and prayed, not wanting Cindy to miss her flight.

It's so good having good radar, Emergency Radios, and Warnings over our cell phone telling us about this bad weather.

The storms passed over us and we scooted just on the other side to the airport.

Got my sweet Cindy to the airport right on time.  She's now on her way to snowy, very cold Massachusetts.  We're going to miss her, but so glad that she can spend this time with her Mom.

Yesterday was a good "Freight Day" for Barb in Haiti.  Volunteers, Lydia, Ed and Doug, had been working for days preparing a good load of supplies for Haiti.

They loaded up 2 full pick-up trucks and a trailer and drove them down to Miami to go on a ship to Barb.  This will be a great blessing to many!!

Please pray that Cindy has a good flight to Massachusetts and safe travels on those snowy roads.  As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

TIME TO GO HOME

The "current" mission in Haiti came to a close...for now.  We have 10 Air Mobile Rescuers in reserve...to keep the clean water flowing.

We had a number of significant meetings and multiple opportunities to share the love and grace of God!

As we left the "Village" for the airport, one little guy was up early and bid me farewell.

The Little Donkey was already fueled and ready for the ride home.  Would have headwinds and a bit of weather along the way.

After doing a thorough pre-flight, had a word of prayer and pushed the throttles forward for home.

That "stalled" cold from between Cuba and Haiti caused me to have to climb to 16,500'.  It's rather "chilly" up there (25 degrees...brrrr) and....the Little Donkey does not have a heater.

But I do have plenty of blankets and pillows for the long ride to and from Haiti.  I snuggled up under a blanket and let the auto-pilot do the work.

Flying for me is a "Spiritual Experience".  I'm still amazed after all the years and thousands and thousands of hours of flying that our Lord has given me this grand privilege to be able to do this!

After passing the cold front, the rest of the flight was smooth and uneventful.  When I landed, Cindy and the Air Mobile Team were already at the Hospital in Orlando bringing the love of God to those who are "shut in".

That gave me time to slip into a CVS and buy some chocolate, a rose and a nice card.....just in time for Valentine Day.

It is good to be home!  THANK GOD for a safe journey and for you, my friends!   We so appreciate your precious prayer, love and support!!

ZIKA VIRUS IN HAITI

In the cool of the morning, here in Haiti, with the smell of "Deep Woods Off" in the air I write this rambling blog.

There is very little news of the dreaded Zika Virus in Haiti, but several people coming from Haiti have brought Zika into the U.S..  "Off" and other "Deet-filled" mosquito repellents are the best ways to avoid Zika.

Folks, let us PRAY that Zika does not break out here and that this terrible virus will be contained!!

Our "current" Mission to Haiti is drawing to a close.  Have "replenished" our Air Mobile Rescuer stock, keeping clean water flowing.

Have had multiple meetings regarding Air Safety and been able to share the love of God, through the Open Doors, that He has put before us.

Happy Valentine's Day!  BTW, do you know the story of Saint Valentine?  Bill Federer, who wrote this article, does a good historical study.  Hope you enjoy the article - HERE IS THE TRUE ORIGIN OF VALENTINE'S DAY

I was saddened to hear the news that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died yesterday.  He was a man who had a strong moral compass.  He will be missed greatly!  Here's more - U.S. SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ANTONIN SCALIA FOUND DEAD AT WEST TEXAS RANCH

The "Bridge" in the Village is all done.  Now, Barbara doesn't have to climb quite as many steps.  This is a good thing!  Thank you Church at Viera (CAV) for funding this great project!!

I'll be checking the weather and getting ready to pack it up in Haiti.  Will fuel the Little Donkey and prepare for the flight home.

This has been a wonderful mission and I THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!  Air Mobile Joe

HAITI...."UNCERTAINTY"

Being in Haiti at this time, certainly brings the reality of the grim situation to light.  Haiti is a "mess".  The "Interim Government", formed at the last possible hour before Martelly stepped down, is extremely fragile.  Haiti is a"Powder Keg".  Let us PRAY that it doesn't "BLOW"!

This story, in my humble opinion, "captures" what's going on right now in Haiti - HAITI POLITICAL CRISIS: UNCERTAINTY IS THE ONLY THING WE KNOW FOR SURE"

Again, I beseech you, PLEASE PRAY FOR HAITI!!

Meanwhile, we're here on a "mission" to bring clean water to the thirsty and God's love and grace in the midst of the turmoil.

Just moving about Haiti is a great challenge.  There are random "check points" all over the place.  The police are usually looking for a "gift".

Yesterday, after meeting with Missionaries, John and Lorne in Port-Au-Prince, we were heading back to the "Village".  John's vehicle got stopped and the police were asking for some money.

I was in the vehicle ahead and pulled over.  John phoned me and asked what he should do?  I asked John to hand his phone to the policeman.

I quickly explained that these were missionaries doing God's work for the people of Haiti and...THAT GOD WAS WATCHING THEM RIGHT NOW!  The policeman quickly told John to "be on his way"...at NO CHARGE!  Praise God for His Grace!!

John and Lorne are interested in bringing clean water to Haiti.  It is so desperately needed!  John is with the Four Square Mission and Lorne is a true water expert.

We spent some time in "Joe's Depot" where I explained how the Air Mobile Rescuer works.  We had a great time discussing the challenge of clean water and how our Lord is helping us to help others with this remarkable machine!

We look forward to working with these precious gentlemen in the days ahead!  I love how...."Our Lord knows how to deploy His troops"!!

Today, I'll be working in "Joe's Depot" bringing a couple of Air Mobile Rescuers "back to life".  The Rescuer can be refurbished so easily.  We've had units in continual operation in Haiti for over 12 years.  Only God knows how many lives have been saved by the clean water provided by these remarkable machines!!

So, as I say every day, and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your precious and invaluable and greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

A DISCUSSION ON GRACE

The other day, was in a meeting with a ranking government official regarding Air Safety.  The conversation came around to "Faith".

Of course, having been "personally" overwhelmed by God's Amazing Grace, we spent some time on this wonderful subject.

I never cease to marvel at how our Lord OPENS DOORS for us to share His great love with others!

Even as I simply shared my story, of how the Lord pursued me and kept pouring His grace into my life again and again, long before I accepted Him, the Grace of God was flowing into my friend's heart.

Yesterday, had some great meetings regarding the continuation of the pursuit of Air Safety.  The cooperation between the Mission Aviation Community and the Haitian government is yielding super results and giving God's favor and grace in high places.

Today, I'll meeting up with a dear and old friend, and fellow missionary, Fred Morrissette.  Fred and I go way back and it all began in Haiti 38 years ago.  He's in Haiti to build a new clinic in the drought stricken Northwest.  It'll be great spending some time with Fred today!!

I'll also be meeting with some other missionaries who have a ministry of bringing clean water to the thirsty.  Oh, we have a lot to talk about.  Looking forward to meeting them today, also!!

Sitting at my "Haiti Desk, have time for that second cup of coffee before I hit the road.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

DREADFUL DROUGHT & A NEW BRIDGE IN THE "VILLAGE"

Haiti is experiencing the worst drought since 2001.  Over 1.5 million Haitians are facing severe food shortages and starvation and malnutrition are taking their terrible toll.

On my flights into Haiti, I had noticed that the Central Plateau was not as green, but I had no idea how serious this drought has become.

This is certainly a matter for PRAYER!  It is all the more reason that we fly into Haiti on a regular basis and work hard to keep the clean waterflowing.

During periods of drought, as Haiti is experiencing, clean water becomes even more scarce!  Here's more -NUMBER OF HAITIANS NEEDING FOOD AID SPIKES AMID DROUGHT

It was a blessing yesterday to service an Air Mobile Rescuer that has been operating in the Jacmel area.

The operator was in and out of the "Village" in 30 minutes.  Praise God for this opportunity to bring clean water to the thirsty!!

May I ask you to pray for RAIN in Haiti as well as much needed food to the hungry.

Yesterday was productive in the arena of Air Safety.  Had wonderful meetings with Dave Carwell of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) and Engineer Cesar from OFNAC (FAA of Haiti).

We are developing a wonderful system of cooperation that truly increases safety in the air.  Again, PRAISE GOD!

To those of you who have visited Haiti and stayed in the "Village", you know that there are plenty of stairs.

Recently, a new construction project has been launched to help Barb to not have to walk as many stairs.  The answer:  A BRIDGE!

This new addition will save Barb so many steps, as she'll be able to go from her "little house" to the main office / kitchen area across the "Bridge".

It's time for me to get on with this day.  BTW, it looks like rain today.  That would be an answer to prayer!  As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

A QUIET DAY IN THE "VILLAGE"....& IN HAITI

The raucous Parades of Mardi Gras have been cancelled because of the fear of violence from "anti-government" protesters.  Usually, here in the "Village", you can hear the music and parties roaring on Mardi Gras.  Not last night. Things were strangely quiet.

Haitians love Mardi Gras and it's a huge part of their culture.  This cancellation is a BIG DEAL!

One does not know which way things will go.  Haiti is in a very precarious place and violence could break out at any moment.  We PRAY that peace and wisdom will prevail.  Here's more -HAITI POSTPONES CARNIVAL AS PRESIDENT STEPS DOWN AMID UNREST

For me, I welcomed the peace and quiet.  Spent the day studying the Word of God and napping.  It wasglorious I felt your prayers!!!

Today is a new day and there is plenty to do.  Have an Air Mobile Rescuer "Operator" coming this morning to pick up a replacement unit.

Our "System" truly works and has for over 12 years.  If a unit needs "Service", the operator simply brings the unit to the "Village" and is given a replacement unit, right on the spot....all at NO CHARGE!

We work hard to keep the clean water flowing!  By God's help and grace and your prayer and generosity, we have 337 Rescuers in operation throughout Haiti!!

Will also be in meetings with local pilots to discuss the operation of the new Air Traffic Control (ATC) System and how it is working.  There is such a wonderful partnership between OFNAC (FAA of Haiti) and the local pilot community to continually improve this system.  We have seen our Lord move in mighty ways in this arena!!

We're particularly thankful to MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) who is helping to monitor the ATC quality.  These pilots fly every day and can detect interference or any such anomalies very quickly and report them.

In that way, we're making major strides toward establishing high quality performance and continually improving the system.  Truly, the skies are safer!  Praise God!!

So, it's time to head out into this day that our Lord has made.  As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable and precious prayer, love and support!!

FAT TUESDAY...AKA "MARDI GRAS" IN HAITI

Yesterday morning was chilly, but the skies were clear and the upper level winds were strong. Mmmm, could even get a tailwind.  Yes, it was time to go to Haiti.

The Little Donkey (Ti Burik) had been fueled and loaded for several days.  The trip to Haiti had been delayed due to sickness and the death of our dear friend Nita.

On this chilly Florida morning (actual 36 degrees) I bid my Cindy goodbye and headed to the airport.  Pre-flighted Ti Burik, had a word of prayer and took off.

Climbed to 15,000 feet and bundled up in blankets.  The temperature up here was 28 degrees.  The air was clear and smooth.  Love that!

The winds were out of the west at 50 knots but I managed to squeeze out at 16+ knot tailwind.  That should get me to Haiti pretty quickly.

Managed to maintain 195 Knots (225 MPH) for most of the flight.  Oh, I LOVE tailwinds!

Just before sunrise, I broke out "Breakfast".  Jerky Bacon is DELICIOUS, it's actually "BODACIOUS"!

Cindy, because she loves me, encourages me to eat a healthy breakfast so....I blended a lot fruit with that delicious bacon!

Then came the moment....the glorious Caribbean sunrise at 15,000 feet.  Sometimes, I just get overwhelmed at the goodness of the Lord to allow me to do this!!

Well, I think a record was broken for the "Fastest flight to Haiti (in Ti Burik)!!  Landed 4 hours 15 minutes after take-off!  Normally the flight is 5+ hours.

Haiti, as you probably know, is in a pretty "turbulent"state.  The now, "former" President Martelly stepped down on Sunday and turned the Government (power) over to a hastily formed "Interim Government".

After landing and unloading, headed back to the "Village".  The streets were strangely empty and things were quiet.  Always, THANKFUL for that.

We had vital supplies that Barbara needed for the orphans.  The Little Donkey carried in a good load.  Here's a typical "Donkey" load.

Today is MARDI GRAS and usually, Haiti is really "partying". But today, things are quiet.  It appears as if the main Mardi Gras Parade has been cancelled.  We'll see what happens.  We PRAY for peace and God's wisdom to prevail.

Plan to stay close to the "Village" today.  Will check to see how our "Rescuer" inventory is faring.  It's such a blessing to be able to help clean water to flow to the thirsty!!

Folks, we're in this thing together.  Your love. prayer and support are vital and greatly appreciated.  THANK YOU!!

MANNING'S THE "MAN"!

Payton Manning was Legendary, & now that Legendary status is gold!  What a great defensive game against a very powerful, but contained Panther team.

Yes, it was a great game  and I'm very happy for Payton (the oldest Super Bowl Quarterback)!  Here's more - BRONCOS OUTLAST PANTHERS - CLAIM 3RD SUPER BOWL TITLE

Late yesterday evening, President Martelly officially stepped down from office, leaving Haiti in the hands of a newly selected "Interim Government".

We pray that Haiti takes advantage of this "breather" and has orderly elections in April.  Again, we PRAY!  Here's the latest - HAITIAN PRESIDENT MICHEL MARTELLY STEPS DOWN

Folks, we had an awesome day yesterday.  After attending our home Church, our Air Mobile Team arrived at the Orlando Hospital and quickly split up into 3 services.  This is such a blessing, to be used by our Lord in this way, to minister with adolescents and adults in a "lock down" facility.

Can't give any specifics (Confidentiality Rules), but I can say that our Lord moved in a might way. Can't even begin to express the joy of having this open door to share the GOOD NEWS of Jesus!  We never take this for granted and we're extremely grateful for this privilege!

Up early this morning, enjoying a delicious cup of coffee and gazing into the sparkling sky on this chilly morning (42 degrees but feels like 39 degrees).  I absolutely love reflecting and praying during the early hours.  Such a peaceful time.

So, as I say every single day, and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

A HOT DEBATE & AN INTERIM GOVERNMENT...IN HAITI

Yesterday evening was the 8th and final Republican Debate before the New Hampshire Primary and it was full of "fireworks".

It's difficult for me to say who won the debate, but we certainly saw some of the Candidates under a lot of pressure.  Again, we're just praying for our Lord to lead in this matter!

Here's a "Snapshot" of the GOP Debate -  GOP DEBATE IN A MINUTE

Meanwhile, Haiti reached an agreement on an "Interim Government" yesterday paving the way for President Martelly to step down.

This will give Haiti a "breather" and allow them to organize elections to complete the "Run-Off".  Again, we PRAY for our Lord to lead in this matter also. Here's more - HAITI CRISIS: AGREEMENT REACHED TO AVOID POWER VACUUM

Yesterday, I had the honor (though with great sadness) to lay our dear friend, Anita to rest.  Funerals are difficult, but our Lord's grace is sufficient.  Please remember to pray for Anita's family as they deal with the sudden loss of this of this precious lady.

This morning, we're getting ready for church and then the 3 Services at the Hospital in Orlando.  This is such a JOY!

Who's going to win the Super Bowl?  It's likely Peyton Mannings last shot at glory.  He's been a great quarterback!!  Panthers are favored to win....but experience goes a long way.  PEYTON MANNING CHASES CROWNING GLORY

Time to get ready for church and head out the door.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!  We never take it for granted and we're extremely grateful for it!!

SAYING GOODBYE TO A DEAR FRIEND

16 years ago, our new neighbor, Jon, told Cindy and I about his sister, Nita.  She was a "Computer Guru and Space Shuttle Engineer".

Nita designed our first website and assisted us in numerous projects related to NASA.  She was a remarkable woman and a great friend.

Nita died suddenly this week and will be laid to rest today.  Her family has asked me to conduct the funeral.  It is my honor to do so, but with sadness.

Nita loved the Lord and had an awesome propensity to help people.  Her wise, steady counsel and generous heart has blessed many.  We will miss Nita!!  Here is Nita's Obituary - OBITUARY FOR JUANITA MELTON

I am also very pleased to tell you that Barbara has returned to Haiti.  Yesterday morning, I put her on a flight from Orlando to Miami and then to Haiti.

Barb is much stronger now and all of the tests have verified.... "what she does not have".  Thankfully, there was no neurological damage done and she is continuing on the road to recovery.

Barb called us yesterday evening to inform us that she arrived safe and sound back in Haiti.  THANK GOD!

As I've been sharing, Haiti isNOT a "SAFE" place now.  The political situation is quite explosive.  Please remember to PRAY for Barb as she navigates those dangerous waters.

Please, also PRAY that the transition of power from President Martelly to the "Interim Government" will take place without violence and loss of life.  Here's more on this developing tragedy - CRISIS IN HAITI TURNS DEADLY AS POWER VACUUM LOOMS

Yesterday, I was at the airport (Space Coast Regional) checking on our Little Donkey when I noted a beautiful Corporate Jet on the ramp.  Out of curiosity, I went up and asked the pilot if I could take a peek inside.

Come to find out, the Pilot was an old friend whom I'd not seen in 24 years.  Back then, he was just learning how to fly.  Now, he's handling this beautiful jet.  My...."How time flies"!

Then, to add to the "wonder of the day", parked directly behind the beautiful jet was a helicopter that I'd seen on TV numerous times before...."The Trump Helicopter".  Mmmmm, wonder what it's doing down here?

One never knows what one will find at a local airport.  That's one of the reasons I love hanging out at the airport.  It's a "Pilot thing"!

Time for me to study the Word and find the Scripture(s) to share at my dear friend, Nita's, funeral.  Please pray that our Lord will use me this day for His glory!  As always, THANK YOU for your greatly appreciated prayer, love and support!!

WHEN PEOPLE CHOOSE LEADERS

As I observe the "Political Campaign" going on in America with debates and accusations and promises, etc. I realize that we have an amazing opportunity to actually participate in the choosing of our leaders.  All the more reason to PRAY for guidance.

Unfortunately, in our neighboring Haiti, things are quite a bit more complicated, difficult and dangerous.

This Sunday, President Martelly will step down and there is no "clear successor" because the final "Run-Off Election" has been indefinitely delayed due to corruption and violence.

Hopefully, an "Interim" Government will be in place when he leaves.  Again, we PRAY for wisdom, peace and grace to prevail, as Haiti crosses this next threshold.  Here's more - HAITI'S LEADER VOWS TO LEAVE POWER ON SUNDAY AS PROTESTS INTENSIFY

I have good news concerning my Cindy.  She is much better and the "nasty" virus has left our home.  PRAYER & REST WORKS!

Also, Barbara got most of the results back from the battery of tests and no "smoking gun" was found.  Barbara was likely injured on that horrendous road trip to Anse-A-Pitre and the wicked fall, when she was filming the interview, in the Refugee Camp.  She is doing so much better.  So many have prayed and called and visited checking on our intrepid Barbara!

So, it's time to head out into this day that our Lord has made!  As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR CINDY!

Cindy is feeling better and we thank you for your prayers!  We're all taking it easy to allow our bodies to fight off these viruses.  PRAYER....& REST is POWERFUL!

Barbara should be getting all of her test results back today.  We're so thankful for having Barb with us during this time.  She is doing so much better.  Again, THANK YOU for praying for Barb!

It's easy to be "busy".  There are so many needs all around us and they're all crying out for attention.

So, when one slows down a bit and just "rests", it's a perfect time to seek His WISDOM!  Proverbs 4 DELIVERS the mail and urges us to seek His Wisdom with all of our heart!

Here's a link to Proverbs 4.  If you have just 5 minutes, click on the link and let this minister to you - PROVERBS 4 NKJV

We're monitoring the situation in Haiti and PRAY that a good resolution will be reached and that proper elections will take place and there will be a smooth transition for the new government.  Here's the latest - OAS MISSION CHIEF 'HOPEFUL' HAITI CAN SETTLE POLITICAL CRISIS

Today, we'll just "lay low" and rest and yes, seek God's Awesome WISDOM for our lives.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!

LET US REMEMBER.....4 BRAVE CHAPLAINS & PLEASE PRAY FOR CINDY

First of all, I'd like to ask you to PRAY for my Cindy.  On Sunday morning, while going into our home church, one of our dear friends, Dawn, was quite sick.  Cindy went and prayed with her and her husband brought her to the hospital.

Cindy followed up on her throughout the day and we all prayed that Dawn would get better and she did.  However....yesterday, Cindy succumbed to the same illness and last night was a tough night.  I almost took Cindy to the ER, but prayer prevailed.  Today, Cindy is quite weak, but slowly recovering.  PLEASE PRAY for my Cindy.

Now, I'd like to share  a story that I read this morning, that brought tears to my eyes.  It has been long forgotten, but should not be.  So, today,  I share it with you and..... encourage you to"pass it on" -   THE LITTLE REMEMBERED TALE OF 4 BRAVE CHAPLAINS!

Today, so many are willing to "KILL" for their god, but our Lord would have us to "lay down our lives for one another".  May we all remember the "4 Brave Chaplains"!

BTW, after Cindy ministered with Dawn at our home Church on Sunday morning, our team went to the Orlando Hospital and we had 3 more services with patients who could easily be forgotten in a "lock-down" facility.

Let me be very clear.  I am not sharing what we do at the Hospital to boast, but to share how our Lord has put it on our hearts to do this.  It is our joy and privilege to share the LOVE OF GOD!

As you go through this day, look for ways to reach out and help those less fortunate.  You may even save a life today.  Our Lord will lead you where He wants you to go.  I pray that prayer for myself, as I need Him every day.  Left on our own...we're a mess!  Today, be blessed and be a blessing to someone who needs it.

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

TED CRUZ WINS IOWA!

In a bit of an"Upset"(particularly to Donald), Ted Cruz pulled off a victory in Iowa.  His first words...."To God be the Glory".  Here's more - CRUZ: TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

This is the "First Stop" of our political process to select candidates for President.  On the Democratic side, it was a "Razor Thin" victory for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders.

Next stop:  New Hampshire.  As for me and my house, we're PRAYING for our Lord to lead our country in these turbulent times.

We had a remarkable day yesterday regarding critical supplies for Haiti.  Vickie of  Alternative Pregnancy Center (APC) came through with a nice load of baby food / formula and baby goodies for Haiti.

We then rushed to another very nice lunch at Dixie Crossroads. We met with Mark (the son of Joe who introduced me to Jesus many years ago) and Doug Maners, Missions Director for a great church who wants to send teams to Haiti.

We laid out future plans to bring Bible School students to Haiti for some "Actual" mission experiences and training.

Then, on this "whirlwind" day, we rushed down to Melbourne to meet Vickie in a Walmart parking lot.  She had more supplies for the babies in Haiti.

Again, I never cease to marvel at how our Lord puts it on peoples hearts to help the helpless.  God is GOOD!

As the day wrapped up, I found myself at Ron's home.  Ron worked for CSA (Cartridge Source of America) for 12 years and is one of the smartest "Computer Geeks" I know.  Ron, truly has a gift.

Recently, my Computer did an unsolicited  "UPDATE"that totally messed up my mind....and computer!  For the last month, I've been doing "work-arounds" to get the blog out.  Ron went through the system and found a number of "bugs" and then found a way to "reverse" the infamous "UPDATE".

Yea, I got my computer back "the way it was".  Oh, it's so good having a great computer geek at hand.  THANKS again, Ron!!

We heard from Dr. Steve yesterday evening and Barb should be getting the test results back today.  During this time that she has been in the U.S. with us, she has met with so many folks whom she has helped with "rescue adoptions".  It's exciting to see how our Lord has used this great lady of God!

Meanwhile, the situation in Haiti continues to deteriorate.  The OAS (Organization of American States) has traveled to Haiti to attempt to help steer Haiti out of this mess.  Some are saying that the OAS is "not welcome".

This coming Sunday, President Martelly will step down and an interim government has yet to be formed.  This is a sad situation and Haiti needs Wisdom to steer through this.

Please PRAY for our Lord to grant His wisdom and peace in this matter.  Here's more -HAITI OPPOSITION ALLIANCE DECLINING TO MEET WITH OAS

It's a very foggy morning and the visibility is almost "Zero".  We'll soon be heading out into this day that our Lord has made.  What adventure lies ahead?  Only He knows.  May His will be done!  As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

4 SERVICES & DINNER WITH A COUPLE OF DOCS

Yesterday was a long day!  We attended our home Church, Redeemer, and Joe Armfield, a great Wycliffe Missionary shared on his recent mission to Papau New Guinea (PNG).

Then, it was off to the Hospital in Orlando, where our Air Mobile Team delivered the Word to 3 separate groups, the Adolescents, the Acute Care Patients and the Adults.  It is such a blessing to bring the Good News to those who are having a difficult time in their lives.

We then headed to the home of Dr. Aaron.  There, we met another Doctor who has an interest in helping the Haitian refugees who have been brutally ejected from neighboring Dominican Republic (DR).

The plight of these refugees is grim as they languish in the "make-shift" refugee camp right outside of Anse-A-Pitre on the southern border of Haiti and the DR.

Here's an interview that I conducted with a Haitian Refugee living in a "Cardboard" house. Note:  The interview is interspersed with English and Creole.

Cholera had recently raised it's ugly head there, and for now....is somewhat under control. YOUTUBE - JOE HURSTON IN ANSE-A-PITRE

This interview was conducted several weeks ago.  Our "intrepid Barbara was doing the filming.  At the very end, she was walking backwards and the ground had a slight dip and she fell.

She got right up and finished the interview.  That's our Barbara.  That's also part of the reason that she lost strength in her extremities.  She is recovering and doing much better.  THANKS again for your prayers for Barb!

Back to our lovely and delicious dinner, yesterday evening, at Dr. Aaron's.  During our fellowship time, we discussed the logistics of getting a medical team to minister with those who are suffering in this "make-shift" camp.  Please PRAY that our Lord leads us in this endeavor.

Today, we'll be gathering vital supplies for our next "Mission".  We hear that Alternative Pregnancy Center (APC) has baby food and formula.  We'll be there this morning.

Barbara will also be getting the results from the battery of tests that she has had recently.  It's been such a blessing having Barb with us!

So, it's that time.  Need to head out and see what our Lord has for us today.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and vital prayer, love and support!!
