GOOD TRAINING...

Spent some great time flight training yesterday.  Had a bit of weather and just waited it out.

Here's a look at the size difference between the C-172 and the C-208.  I'm standing by the C-208 (Caravan) waving.

The Caravan is an extraordinary "freight hauler".

Fed Ex has a large fleet of Caravans to deliver to small and out of the way locations.  It is an AMAZING aircraft!!

In this shot, standing next to the little C-172.

BTW, the humble C-172 is likely the most common trainer aircraft in the world.

It is extremely stable and forgiving but helps to nail down and polish critical maneuvers and learn the basic fundamentals of flight.  Wonderful airplane!

While waiting out the rain, Glen posed Scenario Based Training (SBT) questions to see how I did on the regs and the logic.

We also had some more training in the "Classroom" (the hangar).  He's demonstrating the turns around two points.

Finally, that little black cloud passed and Glen and I spent an hour going over maneuvers.

Now, I know I've shared this with you before.  I have nearly 9000 hours and hold the Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Rating.  Never took the time to get the CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) Rating.

Now is the time.  The plan is take the years and years of flying, often in hostile and dangerous areas and impart the things I've learned to other student pilots.

I also want to encourage the students to fly for the Lord.  We need MISSIONARY PILOTS!

So, the training goes on and I'm getting closer and closer to the Check Ride.  Looking forward to it!

Today, Cindy and I will be back in the Hospital as Chaplains.

Also, our home-church. Redeemer is celebrating it's 12th Anniversary.  Cindy and I were in the very first service of this wonderful church and have been there ever since.  We appreciate our Pastor, Gary Ginn.  He's a good brother!!

THANK YOU, as always for your faithful prayer, love and support!!!

PLANNING & TRAINING...

Was blessed to have Joe Prussel & Yahn Gray over to the office to work on a strategy to get Air Mobile Rescuers ..."into all the world".

As I look at the Global Map and see all the places that we've been able to place these "life-saving" devices, I humbly thank God for opening so many doors around the world!

And....we've just begun!  We've been able to continually improve the Rescuers after having placed over 1300 units in 47 countries.

We're working on a new Power Point to help to explain the incredible power of the Rescuer.

And today, I'll be back in the air in the C-172 training with Glen Gray toward getting the CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) Rating.  Loving the training!!!!

Had a blast yesterday on WPIO (FM 89.3).  It's a joy to help with the Annual Fund Raising to keep these wonderful Christian Radio Stations on the air.

Time to head to the airport to go fly that sweet little C-172.

THANK YOU, as always, for your faithful prayer, love and support!!!

7.5 QUAKE STRIKES ECUADOR / PERU BORDER

Awoke to the news of this powerful (7.5) earthquake that struck on the Equcador / Peru border.

Fortunately, the quake was very deep and there are no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Here's more - 7.5 POWERFUL EARTHQUAKE HITS ECUADOR / PERU BORDER

BTW, we've worked in both Ecuador and Peru following earthquakes and massive floods.  We have many good friends there.

We're following this story very closely.  We're praying for guidance.

Later today (4:30-6:00 PM), I'll be on WPIO (89.3) in Titusville.  Have been invited by Carol Henry (Co-Founder) to assist in the Annual Share-A-Thon.

Carol is a dear friend to Cindy and me.  It's always a pleasure being "On The Air" with Carol.

We love this radio station, a true beacon of light proclaiming the Good News of Jesus.  If you're in the area, tune in.

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

HOME AGAIN....AHHH

I'm simply THANKFUL to be home following that rapid delivery of much needed food and supplies to Haiti.

The recent riots and protests have caused tremendous suffering to the most vulnerable.  So glad we could help.

I never cease to marvel at how folks step up and help us to help others in time of need.

A very special thanks to Brian at Disaster  Logistics Board for the great supply of MRE's (Meal Ready Eat)!

BTW, that Grand Caravan carried 2000 pounds of supplies!!

And a special THANKS to Remote Area Medical (RAM) who loaned their Grand Caravan to Air Mobile to accomplish this mission.  PRAISE GOD!!

"Surely our Lord knows how to deploy his troops & ASSETS"!

God bless you RAM & THANKS AGAIN!!

Now that I'm home, it's back to study and flight training toward obtaining the Certified Flight Instructor Rating (CFI).

That flight to Haiti and back (11 hours of flying in a single day) certainly helped me to work on my basic flying skills.

The autopilot was inop, so John and I "hand-flew" that Caravan for the entire mission.

So, it's back to studying the FAR's (Federal Aviation Regulations...😏exciting stuff).

And will be back in the cockpit of the little Cessna 172 this weekend.

Oh, I do love to fly and am THANKFUL to our Lord for giving me the privilege to do so!

Tomorrow, Cindy and I will be on WPIO (89.3) in the afternoon (between 4:30-6:00pm).  We'll be joining Carol Henry, Co-Founder of WPIO for their annual Share-A-Thon.

We love this radio station and it's always a joy to be with Carol "On The Air".

It's time to have that 2nd cup of "Joe" and read the Regs.  Ever wonder where the name "Cup of Joe" originated?

As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

THERE & BACK AGAIN....

In addition to the wonderful tool loaned to us by Remote Area Medical (RAM) the incredible Cessna Grand Caravan...we received the "Go-Ahead" to fly to Haiti.  PRAISE GOD!

After Yahn loaded this super bird, John Kater and I launched at 4:30am yesterday for Haiti.

BTW, through so many generous ones, we had vital supplies including a full load of MRE's  (Meal Ready to Eat)...and so much more, baby formula / milk etc. etc.

Folks like "Deacon Johnny" went above and beyond to assure a full load for this mission.

The on-going strikes and violence in Haiti have caused many to face hunger and even starvation.

The weather cooperated for our flight to Haiti and I absolutely love the Caribbean sunrises.

Upon arrival into Haiti, our faithful ground crew (some of these young men, I've known since they were teenagers, now some of them are grand fathers) quickly unloaded the Caravan.

After fueling, and a quick turn-around, John and I pointed the nose of the Caravan back to Florida.

Our Lord gave us a nice tailwind, and we even hit 207 knots (238MPH)!

And...I even got home in time to take my Cindy out to dinner for her birthday.  GOD IS GOOD!!!

So, what's on the schedule for today??  Not sure, but I believe our Lord is up to something and we're ready!

As always,  and I mean this with all of my heart, THANK YOU for our precious prayer, love and support!!!

NEXT STEP & HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY!!

Arrived at Remote Area Medical (RAM) early yesterday and picked up the vital piece of equipment...The Cessna Grand Caravan!

Now that we have this tool in hand, we'll be able to deliver the load of vital supplies when the time is right.

For now, WE PRAY!!  The Cessna Caravan is a GREAT AIRPLANE!  Love flying it!!

Upon landing at Titusville, Yahn loaded the critical supplies.  Now, we await the CLEARANCE from the Lord to Go.

And...today is very special.  It is my precious Cindy's birthday.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY!!

I PRAISE GOD for bringing this amazing Lady of God, a true Proverbs 31 Woman into my life.  I love you, Cindy!!!

So, today, we continue to gather supplies and await our NEXT STEP.

MOVE....

Been following the situation in Haiti and feel it's time to move toward gathering the supplies for the next shipment.

Remote Area Medical (RAM) has generously offered vital equipment that will be a tremendous blessing to the people of Haiti.

We PRAY for those who are trapped and vulnerable.

We're THANKFUL that for the last 2 days, there have been only a few outbreaks, but....many are saying that today, the Riots will resume.

WE PRAY THAT PEACE RULES & REIGNS IN HAITI!

So, this morning, I'll be leaving the beloved "Retreat Cabin" and head to Knoxville to pick up the equipment for Haiti.

Oh, let me tell you a little story.  After arriving at the cabin on Saturday morning, I listened to the messages on the phone.

There, in the saved messages, was a message from Stan to me.  I just listened to it and smiled.  I sure do miss my friend and fellow aviator.  I hit the save button.

Somehow, I feel that Stan would be very pleased with the fact that Air Mobile and Remote Area Medical are working so closely together.

BTW, this photo of Stan and I was taken just after the Haiti Earthquake and just after we met for the first time.

There in the background is the Little Donkey (before it was painted) and also, my little blue motorcycle.  Again, I sure do miss Stan!

Well, it's time for me to drive to RAM Headquarters and pick up that equipment.  As always, THANK YOU for your precious and invaluable prayer, love and support!!!!

I'm holding steady at the Tennessee Retreat Cabin awaiting news from Haiti to plan our next move to help.  It's rainy and cold and a perfect day to rest and study God's Word.

The equipment offered to us by Remote Area Medical (RAM) is ready for pick up when we are assured that can get it into Haiti.

WE PRAY FOR GOD'S PEACE TO RULE & REIGN IN HAITI!!

AN EQUIPMENT GIFT....A DASH TO THE MOUNTAINS & DEALING WITH A "GREMLIN"

I was speaking with Jeff, the CEO of Remote Area Medical (RAM) the other day and he offered a piece of equipment that would be very beneficial to the people of Haiti.

Naturally, I accepted the offer and drove all day and night to pick it up.  THANK YOU RAM!  Arrived at the cabin at 3:30am, thus this late blog.

This is a perfect opportunity to check all the plumbing and be sure that the "winterizing" is all in place.  It is.  Love the "Retreat Cabin"!!

Meanwhile, am receiving request after request from Haiti.

The situation there is still volatile and quite dangerous.  Here's more:  "DO NOT TRAVEL TO HAITI" - U.S. TELLS CITIZENS CITING VIOLENT UNREST

It is EXTREMELY difficult to get IN or OUT of Haiti at this time.

WE PRAY!!

Dave and James have worked all week on N337WB inspecting and running out a fuel flow anomaly (AKA:  A "Gremlin").

They've tracked the problem to a component that is on-order.

Dave will return to his home base in Wilmington and James will continue to trouble-shoot until we get N337WB "Ready for Action"!

So, this morning, I'm enjoying a good cup of coffee and the view from the Cabin.  Will be securing the equipment for Haiti tomorrow.

THANK YOU, as always, for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

UNREST IN HAITI...PLEASE PRAY!

We have been getting multiple requests from Missionaries in Haiti for...PRAYER / FOOD/ WATER / PROTECTION.

A series of violent protests have disrupted life to the point that the country is basically "shut down".

The U.S. Embassy this morning upgraded Haiti to Level 4 - DO NOT TRAVEL TO HAITI

Due to widespread, violent, and unpredictable demonstrations throughout Haiti, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens to defer all non-essential travel to Haiti due to crime and civil unrest. For U.S. citizens in Haiti, the Department advises U.S. citizens in Haiti to strongly consider departing as soon as they safely can do so. U.S. citizens ...

Here's more on this unfolding tragedy - LEVEL 4 - DO NOT TRAVEL TO HAITI

The Canadian Embassy closed and the U.S. Embassy is ordering all NON ESSENTIAL Personnel to leave as soon as safely possible.

This story just in on Haiti - HAITI'S PRESIDENT SAYS HE WON'T STEP DOWN AS VIOLENT PROTESTS GRIP THE CAPITAL!

We are working behind the scenes to get help there, where it is desperately needed.  PLEASE PRAY for our Lord to give His direction for these dangerous and violent times.  Please PRAY for those that are in harms way!

We are gathering food and supplies at this time. We also needs funds to help us get it there.  PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING US...TO HELP THOSE IN SUCH NEED!

I know that I say this every single day, but I mean it with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY... &....THE REST OF THE STORY

Yes, I bought Cindy a pretty Valentine Card and some Godiva Chocolate (her favorite).

And...Cindy likewise gave me a lovely card that warmed my heart and plenty of almond covered chocolate...my favorite.

But, do you know the real story behind St. Valentine?  Many stories have been written about this remarkable Saint.

I like this one.  THE STORY OF ST. VALENTINE

As we usually do, we've turned this into a tremendous marketing event for chocolate, flowers and cards.

However, it is also a good thing to show your love for your loved ones.  And the chocolate is a nice bonus.  That's not a bad thing after all.

May you blessed on this Day of remembering and expressing love.

Of course, the greatest act of Love ever given to man is... Jesus!

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious LOVE, PRAYER AND SUPPORT!!

INSPECTIONS....TRAINING & RECOVERY

Dave and James have been inspecting N337WB and doing run-ups on this pretty bird.  It will continue today.

Had a great day of flight training with my Instructor, Glen.  This is where we are on this "Journey".

Glen, the Instructor, is role-playing as the Student Pilot.

I, as the Instructor, have to tell Glen, the Student, exactly what to do and I can't touch the controls...unless the student does something very stupid or dangerous.

All I can say is...Glen should get an award for being a very "bad" student.

Yes, my  "Growth Curve" as an instructor is definitely on the upswing.

And...I didn't have to take the controls on the entire flight.

Overall, the lesson went great.  After nearly an hour, we were down wind for runway 18, and I told my student, Glen, that this would be a full stop.  He asked, why no more touch and goes?  I just said...let's make it a full stop.  He obeyed and advised the tower.

After landing, I smiled and told him I wanted to stop.... while I was ahead.I felt that the "bad student" was going to test me further.  Glen smiled and said OK.  End of Lesson for today.

My quest for the CFI Rating (Certified Flight Instructor) goes on.  We fly again on Saturday morning.

Glen is a GREAT INSTRUCTOR!!

I'm also very pleased to report that Ariana is recovering beautifully from her surgery.  She'll be going back to school soon.  Cindy and I truly can't THANK YOU enough for your prayers for Ari.

And, likewise, THANK YOU for your faithful love, prayer and support!!!

A PRETTY BIRD / AN R.V. CHAPLAIN & FLIGHT TRAINING RESUMES

Dave Walen flew the "red eye" to Phoenix to inspect N337WB.

There he met the owner, James.  James has agreed to sell his pretty bird to Air Mobile at an AMAZING PRICE!

THANK YOU JAMES!!!!

Dave has been going through the log books on this aircraft and is very pleased with the detail and completeness.

After Dave arrived and did the initial inspection, he simply said...."The photos did not do the aircraft justice!"

He'll be taking N337WB up for a test flight today and if all is well, he'll be aiming that pretty bird to Florida...where the Little Donkey eagerly awaits the fresh engine.

While Dave was inspecting the aircraft, I was blessed to be visited by Jim.

I call him Jim R.V. Chaplain.  Jim travels all over the U.S., including Alaska and Canada, in his RV and simply helps others along the way.

He brought in Justin, a friend and we had coffee and great fellowship.

Meanwhile, Ariana is recovering beautifully from her surgery.  Can't THANK YOU all enough for your prayers for Ari!!

And, this morning, I'll be back in the air, continuing my flight training toward the Certified Flight Instructor Rating. Good to have my Instructor, Glen back.

He's a Captain for Regional Airline and it's good when our schedules allow flight training.

So, time to have that second cup and head out the door to go FLY.  I love it!!  As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

A LITTLE HELP FROM A FRIEND....

As many of you may know, Dave Walen is a great friend and "Water Mule".

Dave has joined Air Mobile on "Missions" all around the globe bringing clean water and relief to the suffering.

Yesterday, Dave boarded a Frontier Airlines flight to Phoenix, AZ.

His Mission:  Inspect and if approved, fly N337WB, a Turbo Cessna 337 back to Florida.

This will be a MAJOR STEP toward getting the Little Donkey (AKA:  Ti Burik) back in the air!

BTW, Dave stepped up to this mission because I am staying close to home to assist in Ariana's recovery following her successful surgery.

And Ari is doing very well.  THANK YOU for your prayers for her.

I should be hearing from Dave later today as he inspects the logs and the aircraft.  Dave is, among many things (Pilot / Lawyer / Musician / Actor....), an excellent aircraft mechanic.

You know, as I write this blog today, I'm reminded of those wise words spoken to me many years ago by my first-ever Pastor, Roy Stockstill.

I was feeling all "anxious" about a mission when he said..."Son, don't forget, God knows how to deploy His troops".  Very wise and true words!

So, today, I'll be studying out of the very interesting and exciting (not really) Federal Aviation Regulations in preparation for my Certified Flight Instructor Rating.  Gotta know the regs!

As I say every single day, and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for standing with us with your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

We would also like to THANK the wonderful staff and especially our surgeon, Dr. Westmoreland for the amazing care, love and skill shown to us.

Everything went exactly as planned and the overall experience at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando was absolutely amazing!

So, today, all is quiet and peaceful in the Hurston home.

BTW, I am completely over the infection I had several days ago and feeling great.  God is so GOOD!!

OK, let me tell you a secret.  I'm sitting here going over all of the comments and love shown by our blog and Facebook friends.  I'm getting a little "teary"😂 at so many expressions of love for our sweet Ari!  God bless you all!!

PLEASE PRAY FOR ARIANA...

Today, our Ariana will have surgery.  PLEASE PRAY that all goes extremely well!!

Cindy and I have been BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE to have Ariana as our daughter.

When we helped to bring Ari from Haiti for life-saving surgery 11 years ago, we did not know that she would be our daughter.

But, as our Lord would have it, we adopted this precious girl and what a joy she is!!

Ari has a heart of gold and a very quick and keen mind.  She's a Straight-A student at Park Avenue Christian Academy here in Titusville.

She published her first book recently (Parasols & Peril on Amazon). It's a fun read and great adventure with a wonderful ending.  She's already working on book 2 in the series.

When we brought Ari to India with us last year, she proved to be an extraordinary missionary.

Oh, we're so THANKFUL to our Lord for bringing Ari into our lives!

So, today, please remember to pray for our Ari.

And, as I say every day and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

We had a wonderful F.U.E.L. meeting at the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum in Titusville, FL. yesterday.

Though our group was small, our Lord Jesus was surely with us.

Pastor Kruse (in the yellow shirt) is working hard to provide a place to RE-FUEL on Wednesdays.

Again, it's always a privilege and joy for me to share in these FUEL Meetings.

After the meeting, I headed straight home and rested.  Keep that fever away!  Will be doing the same thing today, resting and studying.

I have a special PRAYER REQUEST.  Please pray for Ariana, as she will have surgery tomorrow.  We are believing God for it to be extremely successful.

SUPER SUNDAY TO MONDAY....

Cindy is from Massachusetts and of course, I had to pull for the Patriots.

WHAT A....DEFENSIVE GAME.  We must hand it to Tom Brady, he is the best!

The Rams defense was incredible, but not quite good enough to stop the Patriots.

Before the Game, Cindy and I went to the Hospital, as we do every Sunday, and brought the Good News of Jesus to those who are suffering.  I believe that New Names have been written down in Glory!

What an awesome privilege and we're so THANKFUL for the OPEN DOOR for these 21 years to minister in this Hospital.

Well, here we are on Monday morning.  My prayer is that our Lord has His way with me today.

I know that I say this every single day, but, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

A GREAT DAY AT THE "GREAT OUTDOORS MISSIONS DAY!"

Oh, I love this church and the community at the Great Outdoors in Titusville, FL!

Ari and I manned the Air Mobile display and just loved every minute of it. My Cindy was working at the hospital.

The community in the Great Outdoors has funded many Air Mobile outreaches around the world following devastating disasters.

Yes, we love these folks and especially appreciate the opportunity to meet them and share the latest updates on where we've been,  where we're going and what we're doing for the cause of Christ.

And, we're certainly not alone.  This great church supports many mission outreaches, including our dear friends at Prison Book Project.

Ray Hall, the Founder, has provided Air Mobile with literally THOUSANDS(!) of Bibles over the years.

THANK YOU RAY!!

It was also a blessing to run into Gloria from Pakistan.  She and her brother, Steve, have an amazing outreach in Pakistan.

Gloria shared that Steve would be traveling to Pakistan next week.  Air Mobile donated a water purifier to their mission several years ago.

What a perfect opportunity to send an extra ceramic filter back with Steve to help keep that clean water flowing!!

And, we were joined by another great friend Doug Rodante.  Doug has joined Air Mobile on missions dating back to 2004!

We've been around the world together many times!  Doug is a GREAT pilot and a Documentary film maker.

We took advantage of the good set-up and Doug interviewed me for a video documentary aimed at helping to secure a LARGE aircraft for immediate deployments around the world.

Here's a little clip from that interview.

So, on this beautiful Sunday morning, we're preparing to go to Church and then to the Hospital to bring the Good News of Jesus to those who are hurting.

THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

MISSIONS DAY....IN THE "GREAT OUTDOORS"

We're very grateful for the Believers in the "Great Outdoors Church" in Titusville, FL!

This GREAT Church has supported the efforts of Air Mobile around the world.

Today is "Missions Day" and it's an honor to set up a display with the Rescuer water purifier.

And...we're going to include something new in the display...our "Delivery System".

Typically, following disasters, the best way to get the Air Mobile Rescuer into hard to reach areas is by motorcycle.  And...another benefit is that the motorcycle can provide the POWER to run the unit.

It just so happens that we have a little motorcycle and it's the right color...YELLOW to match the Rescuer!

BTW, if you'd like to come out and see us, WE'D BE BLESSED!!

The address for the Great Outdoors Church is:

144 Plantation Dr.

Titusville, FL   32780

Just tell the Guard at the Gate that you're there for Missions Day!

So, it's time to get on with this beautiful day in sunny Florida.

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious and invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

WHERE WE'VE  BEEN....WHERE WE'RE GOING

Recently, my good friend Joe Prussel asked me to lay out all of the places we've deployed Air Mobile Rescuers.

WOW!  And, we've only just begun!!

BTW, the "Color Code" doesn't mean anything.  I was just running out of arrows.

Yesterday, I mentioned how my good friend and Brother in Christ, Joe Polozola encouraged me with Psalm 103.

I'm still listening and being blessed, not only by that Psalm, but by the others.  David had an awesome gift and is still sharing it...2700 years later!  AMAZING!!

One thing I failed to do yesterday is, share a link to that great Psalm (103) with you.

Here it is, with a single click....ENJOY - PSALM 103 NKJV

So, today we're working on placing some more arrows on the map.  It's encouraging to see all the places that we've been, but we're also aware of how many places we've yet to go...WITH HIS HELP!

And as I say every single day and mean with all of my heart, THANK YOU for walking down this road of life with us.  Your prayer, love and support is invaluable!!
