THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES.....JUNE 2020a

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!.

244 Years ago, the Great Experiment began and today, it is still alive!

PRAISE GOD!!

Cindy and I are proud to be Americans and are so THANKFUL for this great nation!!

Now, as never before, we must stand up and PRAY for God to continue to BLESS AMERICA!!

We hope and pray that you are BLESSED wherever you are.  STAY SAFE!!

Have had a couple of folks ask me....how do you keep the "critters" out of your beautiful Victory Garden? Have a couple tricks.  Here they are.

The first one is an "Orbit Yard Enforcer".  It's a very cool motion activated sprinkler that simply chases the "intruders" out of the garden.  Don't have to kill-em, just startle them and they run away.

Here's how it work....

Now, the other one, I was a bit skeptical over, but it too works...if you work it.  Identify the leaves that the bugs love.  In our case, it is the pole bean leaves.

Get a glass jar with a lid.  Sneak up to the bug and just flick the leaf and they just fall right in.  I've "captured" over a hundred and counting.

And, the good news is, the bugs only like the pole bean leaves. The tomatoes and the other vegetables are not on the bug's menu.

Now, there are so many wonderful lessons here.  Jesus gives us the parable of the "Sower & the Seeds".  Good idea to put good seed into good soil.

Folks the best soil is the Word of God!  Every day, we're planting seeds.  May we strengthen our Soil with God's Word.

When the enemy comes to "steal the seed", may we chase him out with the Word of God.

BTW, the Critter Chaser is called the "Orbit Yard Enforcer".  Here's a link - ORBIT YARD ENFORCER

Well, those are my rambling thoughts on this beautiful 4th OF JULY CELEBRATION!!

REMEMBER TO PRAY for our LEADERS.  They certainly need it!!

And...THANK YOU for rambling down this road of life with me. We so APPRECIATE your precious prayer, love and support!!!

HARVEST TIME....

One of the sweetest moments in the "VICTORY GARDEN" is HARVESTING!

This morning, in a 5'X5' section of the garden were the Beets.

And are they beautiful!  It was time to harvest them.

One of them is the size of a baseball!

Even the beet tops are delicious & and very nutritious!!

We all know how good beets are for us (you've probably heard the "Super Beets" commercials) and the many benefits of "Nitric Oxide".

Well, we have a lot of good nourishment and health and even enough to share.  PRAISE GOD!!

Again, please forgive me for going on and on about the "VICTORY GARDEN", but there are so many lessons and demonstrations of GOD'S BOUNTIFUL GOODNESS TO US!

Just had to share this "Harvest" moment with you.  Can't begin to tell you what JOY this sweet "VICTORY GARDENhas brought to me and Cindy.  GOD IS GOOD!!!!

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support and walking down this path of life with me!!

WHAT A DEAL....

Sitting in the Victory Garden yesterday evening, had some thoughts about "planting seeds".

I never cease to marvel at HOW GOOD OUR LORD IS TO US!!

Just putting a tiny seed into "good soil" can yield so much!!

Even if you're on a limited fixed income, this deal is almost too good to be true.  Yes, I believe we are coming into some very difficult days.

COVID-19, whether real or not is causing GLOBAL WOES for BILLIONS OF PEOPLE.

Frankly, I don't know how much is real, very few of us do.  The bottom line is...WHAT CAN I DO / WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Again, my simple suggestion is.... consider PLANTING SOME SEEDS FOR FOOD.

Assess your situation and fill in the weak spots.  Maintain an extra supply of food, clean water, batteries, etc.  In other words...PREPARE!

Not only will this be of great benefit, it will also give you some peace of mind during these difficult days.

And, I'd also like to add that Cindy and I have had a blast with this garden.  It has been so rewarding!!!

We PRAY that our Lord will intervene and give America another chance.  We pray that the "new normal" will not be too bad.  But....if not, at least we've done something.

These are just some of my rambling thoughts. Take them as you will.

And...I know that I say this every single day, but I truly appreciate your precious prayer, love and support!!!

WHAT TO BELIEVE???

There are so many conflicting reports coming out regarding COVID-19! Is it real?  Is it exaggerated?  What should I do?

If I am asked, what do I believe?  My answer is..."IF YOU ERR ON ANY SIDE, ERR ON THE PREPARE SIDE!!

In that way, you are more PREPARED for what might come.  Folks, we are presently in the CALM BEFORE THE STORM!

I urge you to be like the 5 Wise Virgins in Matthew 25.  They went out and bought extra oil for their lamps while the market was still open and prices were normal.

As for me and my house, we don't want to be like the foolish virgins who assumed that the wait would not be too late.

OK, PLEASE forgive me for going on and on about the STORMS COMING.

Who would have ever thought that things could change so RAPIDLY.

MANY STORMS HAVE ALREADY HIT....violence in the streets, millions dead around the globe from COVID-19, economic collapse, millions unemployed, terrible fear and anger.

Our nation is under ATTACK from a deadly virus and extremely confusing and conflicting information.

Our nation is EXTREMELY DIVIDED!  It is true....A HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF WILL FALL!

MAY OUR LORD BRING PEACE & UNITY TO AMERICA!!

Meanwhile, AIR MOBILE MINISTRIES IS ALIVE & WELL!  The Little Donkey is ready for action.
A number of Air Mobile Rescuers have been built and ready for immediate deployment wherever needed.

WE STAND READY TO GO!!

So, what am I going to do today?  Heading back to Walmart and continuing to stock up...while we can.

May I encourage you to do what you can, while you can, to get ready for what might lie ahead.

And, I want to say just how much I appreciate your invaluable and precious prayer, love and support!!!

STORM CLOUDS BREWING.....sobering thoughts

I'm not speaking about "Meteorological" clouds either.  Folks, America and the world is skating on very thin ice right now.

Between COVID-19, which is very real, and indeed crippling the worlds economies and taking untold lives and the RACIAL tensions that are exploding and so many other forces that are shaking our world, this is the time PRAY!!

I can't urge you enough to PRAY for our Leaders, here in America, and the Leaders around the world to have GOD'S WISDOM for the STORMY days ahead!

I know that Cindy and I have taken measures to grow our own food and PREPARE for the days ahead.

We've urged you to consider doing the same and we still do.

This is not the time to PANIC, but is the time to PREPARE!

We're THANKFUL that stores like WALMART are still open and doing business and well stocked.

It's relatively easy to drive most anywhere.  Fuel is incredibly cheap and readily available.

NOW is the time to assess your situation, look for the weak gaps in your provision and fill them.

Our PRAYER is that these things will pass and life will go on, but in many ways, changed forever.

We urge you to lean heavily upon our Lord Jesus and SEEK HIS DIRECTION for your life and your family.

May we SEEK HIM in all our ways and we shall FIND HIM!!

I realize that these are sobering words and never forget, we serve a MIGHTY GOD WHO IS ABLE TO KEEP US!!

This morning, Cindy departed for the Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.  PLEASE PRAY for her to have a safe journey there and that she is PROTECTED from COVID-19 as she works with those who are suffering.

And, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!

CLOUDS IN THE VALLEY....

Cindy and I are enjoying a cup of coffee and just watching the clouds coming through our beautiful valley.

Had a lovely rain last night and the garden is happy and just pushing out so many healthful greens and vegetables.

So glad we put that garden in several months ago.  It's like having our very own Vegetable Market.

You might want to consider putting in a "Victory Garden" yourself.  It's not difficult and you can find so much information on YouTube.

We chose the Lasagna Garden method and it's worked very well.  Here's a short description of the Lasagna method.  Check it out.  LASAGNA GARDENING MADE EASY

Cindy will be here for another day before returning to the Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.  Our Lord is using Cindy in a wonderful way there but...we'll all rejoice when her "Travel Nurse" assignment is over.

So, on this rainy morning, can't work in the field so...Cindy and I will make the trek into Rogersville and go to Walmart to buy supplies.  So glad that Walmarts are still open.

It appears that COVID-19 is gaining strength in certain areas and we're ever mindful to "Stock up & Prepare".... while we can.

We trust all is well with you, who wander down this road of life with us.  We're so appreciative for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

SHIFT....

Cindy had a few days off at the Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.  So....she headed to the "Retreat Cabin" for some much needed rest.

It's a very pleasant 2+ hour drive through some beautiful country. So glad to have Cindy "home" for a few days before heading back to the Hospital.

It was time for our dear Sister Barb to head back to New York.  We so enjoyed having this intrepid Lady of God with us.

After Cindy arrived, I drove Barb to Knoxville for her flight home.

Barb, as you may know has been responsible for more than 3000 children being  adopted, including our Juliet and Ariana.

THANK YOU, Barb and Bon Voyage!

BTW, Barb will be going to Africa in the next week to bring in critical supplies to those who are in desperate need.

Today, we'll be dodging some Thunderstorms in the mountains of East Tennessee and battening down the hatches at the Retreat Cabin.

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious prayer, love and support!!

STAY CLOSE.....

"Social Separation" may be a good idea when it comes to people, but....

STAY CLOSE TO JESUS!!

The "Headlines" are difficult to take in.  Wear a mask, don't wear a mask.  Open, Don't Open.  And, the list goes on and on.  WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

May I urge you to...STAY CLOSE TO JESUS.  Just what does that mean? Well, it entails PRAYING, LISTENING & OBEYING.

I find myself listening to the Word of God more than ever.

Psalm 91 is one of my all-time favorite Scriptures.

Our Lord promises to PROTECT us in so many ways, including "PESTILENCE" (VIRUSES).

When I experience "ANXIETY", and I do, I PRESS IN CLOSE TO JESUS.

There,  I find HIS PEACE & HIS GUIDANCE.

In HIS PEACE, one can hear HIS DIRECTION.

Now Folks, I certainly have not "mastered" this.  But, I'm heading in the right direction.

I carry plenty of hand-sanitizer and have my mask ready and I'm armed with Psalm 91!

I don't know where you are in all of this.  My PRAYER is that you too PRESS IN CLOSE TO JESUS.  Believe me, things go better when we do!!

Just thought I'd share these things with you today.

I so appreciate having you on-board this "rambling blog" with me.  THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

FROM HAZARD....TO THE RETREAT CABIN

It was time to wrap up our visit with Cindy.  We searched out an "Open" Park and enjoyed an old fashioned "Picnic" in Perry County Park.

Fixed a "feast" and enjoyed "Social Distancing" from anyone else.  The Park was quite empty.

We bid Cindy farewell and PRAY for her PROTECTION & HEALTH as she returned to work at the Hospital.

We all enjoyed our brief time together and look forward to the next "break" between shifts.

Had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL ride from Hazard, KY to the "Retreat Cabin" in the Mountains of East Tennessee.

In the midst of all of the new infections, according to the statistics, the U.S. Death Rate from COVID-19 is dropping.  We're THANKFUL for any encouraging news.

Here's more - U.S. DEATH RATE FALLS FOR THIRD DAY IN A ROW

WE PRAY FOR THIS SCOURGE TO END!!!

And Folks, behind the scenes, we're continually PREPARING and stocking supplies away...while we can.

We don't know what tomorrow holds but....WE KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW!!

So, back to the "Retreat Cabin" and the Victory Garden and the "Peace" in the midst of the storm going around us.

We PRAY for our Leaders here in the U.S. as well for the Leaders around the World.

Simply put..... WHAT THIS WORLD NEEDS IS JESUS!!

THANK YOU for rambling down this "Road of Life" with us.  So appreciate your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

A HERD OF...."WILD HORSES"

We headed to the top of mountain near Jackson, KY where horses run wild.  The story is true.

Ari had a lovely "Horse Encounter" with a sweet paint.

These horses just roam free up here and it's an amazing experience to get up close to these lovely creatures.

Even Barb had a "close encounter" with one of these "wild" horses.

We've really enjoyed having Barb with us!

BTW, the horses were not very wild...unless you tried to saddle them!

Along the way, we came across a "swinging" suspension bridge.  So many beautiful spots here in Kentucky.

Kentucky is slowing "Opening Up" and Applebees served a delicious dinner.

It's so good spending precious time with Cindy "between" her shifts at the hospital.

This evening, Cindy will be back on job at the Hospital.

We continue to PRAY for your safety and health as she ministers to those who are suffering.  GO CINDY!!

Today, we'll be heading back to the "Retreat Cabin" in the Mountains of East Tennessee.

GOD IS GOOD and we're sticking close to HIM!!

THANK YOU, as I say every single day and mean with all of my heart!!!

ARRIVED IN....HAZARD

It was a lovely drive to Hazard, Kentucky from the Mountains of East Tennessee.  BEAUTIFUL country for sure.

So good seeing Cindy who is off work for a few days, where she's on a 13 week "Travel Nurse" assignment.  Behind her little apartment is a lovely river.

Cindy is working in a large Psychiatric Hospital here in Hazard.

Her job entails a lot of responsibility & is quite challenging.  Cindy is a great nurse with a lot of compassion, love & skill.

PLEASE remember to PRAY for Cindy as well as for ALL of the Health Care workers around the world who are fighting COVID-19.

Hazard certainly has an interesting history and of course the "Dukes of Hazzard" adds to the "mystique".

We, of course, brought our 3 dogs (Andy, Benjie and Honey) who miss being able to run freely as they do at our "Retreat Cabin".  But....they love being with Cindy.

Someone had the idea to build the "Mother Goose Inn".  The goose on top was built from the extact skeletal structure of a goose.  Interesting....

So, today we'll be exploring more of Hazard and the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, we're being cautious and careful wearing our masks and using plenty of hand sanitizer.

I'm just glad to spend a few days with my Cindy!!

THANK YOU, as always, for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

ON THE ROAD TO...."HAZARD"!

Ari, Barbara and I will be heading to Hazard, Kentucky today (remember the "Dukes of...").

Cindy has a few days off from the Hospital and has invited us up to explore this quaint little town.

Cindy is on the "front line" of the COVID-19 Battle.  Our Lord is using her in a mighty way.  We're very proud of her courage, love and skill.

PLEASE continue to PRAY for Cindy's protection and health!

So, on this rainy, stormy morning, time to load up and head to Hazard.

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!

PEACEFUL MORNING....

Up early and spending some glorious time just meditating on our Lord Jesus and weeding.  Never thought I'd enjoy weeding so much.

I must admit, I glimpse at the news from around the world and....it can be pretty discouraging.  That's the reason I run to Jesus and seek HIS PEACE and you know what?  IT WORKS!!

I do encourage you to "KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS"!!

Here at the cabin, there's always things to be done.  This morning, will be working on getting electricity to the barn.  Kind of an important task.

My good friend and neighbor, Rich will be assisting me.  Rich loves greens and vegetables, so part of his pay will be paid in "produce".

Time to get the 20' extension ladder out and go trace down the short.

As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADS!!

Awoke to text messages and phone calls from my kids wishing me...Happy Father's Day.

Headed out to the garden and....kind of got lost.  Couldn't get enough of the beauty and life exploding in the "Victory Garden".

I know I go on and on about this, but please just bear with me.

Took a little tour at "ground level" and thought I'd share it with you.

Yesterday, my Cousin Nancy asked this question...."What is the secret to your beautiful garden".  My simple answer..."GOOD COMPOST".

Simply put, GOOD SEEDS IN GOOD SOIL produce GOOD FRUIT &..... VEGETABLES.

So, on this beautiful FATHER'S DAY....may you all be blessed!!

And, as always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

CINDY & ARI 5K - BENJIE ROLLS & AN IFR MORNING

Cindy and Ari ran a Virtual 5K.  Oh, they really ran the whole 3.1 mile, and sent a shot of the beginning and the end to qualify & run.

I followed along in the Escape to be sure they were safe. At 2.7 miles they were running strong.

At the end, Cindy was greeted by Benjie and Honey.

And here's my Sunshine among the Sunflowers in the Victory Garden.

And, at the end of the day, Benjie rolled the dice with Barb and I in our on-going Yahzee match.

It was a good day!

This morning, here in the Smokies, the ceilings are IFR (Instrument Flight Rules), but the Hummers can find the Necter.

And, this morning, Cindy's heading back to the Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.  We'll see her next week.  Sure going to miss her!!

As always, THANK YOU for your precious prayer, love and support!!!

A GENTLE RAIN....& AN ANSWER TO PRAYER!!

Woke up to a lovely, gentle rain this morning.  No need to water the Victory Garden.  The Lord is doing it for us.

Again, please forgive me for going on and on about this wonderful garden.  It still amazes me that some tiny seeds can produce such incredible results.  GOD IS GOOD!!

Cindy made it to the cabin yesterday afternoon.  It wasn't long before she was out in the garden weeding.  We're so THANKFUL for this wonderful source of food and nourishment.

BTW, the background noise is coming from the cute little red 1975 Honda 90CT.

IF....the rain stops this morning, Cindy will be running a 5K Race to support the Hospital where she is working in Kentucky.

I never cease to marvel at Cindy's energy, love and dedication.

Now, I must admit, it's difficult to watch the News in this lovely spot.  So much turmoil and anger and sickness and suffering going on in America and around the world.

I find myself leaning heavily upon our Lord Jesus and seeking His direction for each step.

I encourage you too, to FIX YOUR EYES ON JESUS & not on the "News"!

Had a wonderful thing happen yesterday.  Received an urgent text message from a Missionary in Haiti, Kim Joseph.

Her Air Mobile Rescuer water purifier had malfunctioned and she needed that machine to bring in life-saving clean water to her village.

We have Refurbished units in Port-au-Prince to swap out at no charge.  The problem is Kim's Mission is in Northern Haiti and the road to Port-au-Prince is impassable.

I remembered my good friend, Dave Carwell of MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship).  I called Dave and asked if there were any flights to Cap Haitian (in the North of Haiti).  He replied...rarely did MAF fly to Cap.

Dave and I prayed and I simply asked if he could let me know when the "next flight to Cap" would happen.

BTW, you may recall that several weeks ago when I flew the Little Donkey to Haiti, I hand-delivered a 2 pound bag of M&M's with peanuts to Dave.  He loves M&M's!!

Then, I called Matt Brian in Barb's Village.  Matt and I had refurbished 11 units on our last mission to Haiti.  Matt volunteered to get a replacement unit to MAF IF....a flight came up.

Several hours later, Dave called and said..."We just got a flight to Cap for tomorrow morning.  Get us that replacement unit and we'll bring it!"

AN ANSWER TO PRAYER!!!

I'm so pleased to say that as I type this blog, an Air Mobile Rescuer is on it's way to Cap Haitian to bring Kim's Mission CLEAN WATER! PRAISE GOD!!!

THANK YOU DAVE & MAF!!!

I LOVE IT WHEN OUR LORD PUTS A PLAN TOGETHER!!!

Well, time to get on with this lovely, rainy day in the Mountains of East Tennessee!!!

As always, THANK YOU for your invaluable prayer, love and support!!!

IT'S NOT OVER.....

The reports are flooding in around the world...that COVID-19 is far from over.  Cases are spiking and the death toll is rising.  WHERE ARE WE GOING??

Folks, it's a good idea to continue to PREPARE and stock up on vital supplies as we can.  WEAR A MASK and plan your time out wisely.

Yesterday I had a number of errands to run and among them was some "good-old fashioned BARTERNING" with our dear friends, Richard and Teresa Suarez.

Now, I had intended to just bring them a nice "mess" of greens and assorted goodies from our Victory Garden....for free.

Well, they've had a group of  "Rhode Island Reds" that have given them beautiful brown eggs for years.

BTW, Richard and Teresa have shared their delicious eggs with us (for free for years).

So, I delivered the greens and they in-turn gave us some delicious eggs.

The famous Barbara Walker, looked on to be sure the transaction was fair...LOL.

I suspect that these kind of transactions will become more normal in this "Crazy World" that we're finding ourselves in.

Above all, PUT YOUR TRUST & FAITH IN OUR LORD JESUS!!

He will guide us and lead us each step of the way!!

Cindy just finished an over-night shift in Hazard, Kentucky this morning.

Later today, my Cindy will be driving back to the "Retreat Cabin" for a few days of rest.

Please PRAY she has a safe journey home!

I'm so PROUD of how Cindy is serving others who are in pain and suffering!!

Time to head out to the garden and do some weeding and harvesting.  GOD IS GOOD!!

As always, THANK YOU for your faithful prayer, love and support!!
